Because if you can't text a person's phone number, what on EARTH else would you do with it??

(Okay, I'm projecting: I loathe a phone call.)

I have no idea if any of my Shepherdstown folks here remember the use of the word "crucial" in town in the early aughts, but I remember so many things being "croosh" back then. Maybe you can't make "fetch" happen, but "croosh" sure did.

(Attention: Cat. <3)

Personally I admire Nicole's dedication to Stromboli's new name.

OH! PS! Chapter 9 is up on the ET website! It's the one where Kris's dreams get  kinda saucy.

She doesn't need a cell, because that is not the way she connects with people. I take it because her "aunt" (I think that is who owns the tea house) probably phones her, and she doens't really know anyone else in town, and is an introvert, why would she need a cell. I do still make phone calls. But I am probably the same age as Miranda's aunt.

OMG a call-out 😻 *swooning* So either I was so immersed that I just thought "crucial" was happening everywhere, or I was carrying it around with me to my further-out hangouts and spreading it like a small benign virus. Every so often I still have breakouts where I will use it again - often in the classroom? Go fig. Man those were the damn DAYS. I have some photos from that era that you oughta see. Also no one ever call me ever please.

Jessica Bernard

No no, Danielle did in the comic lol I didn't even see your comment also misspelled her name.

And here we see the UPside of having a Nicole in your life.

Joanna

Well... Stromboli doesn't have an ear tipped, so she hasn't been TNR'd.

Dean Reilly

I'm with Nicole here, encountering a twentysomething without a cell phone would be like finding a unicorn.

dcorsetto

THANK YOU, how did I not catch that?!

dcorsetto

Ahhh another friend I can count on to only text me or stop by when they swing into town. ;)

Cab

I looooove the dynamic between the two!!

M Aidan

Oh I love Miranda ❤️

Hugh Eckert

I think some places are moving to the green line tattoo on the belly. I know it's standard for pets/adoption candidates...

Hugh Eckert

Not a huge fan of phone calls myself.

NJGR

The sideways face and heart eyes make her look demented, which is... really on point for that character, in a lot of ways! - - Neal

No cell phone here either. Not enough social cues in texts for me to figure out what a person actually means. Don't mind a call but it has best be important!

Douglas Appelt

Oof. Nicole is a *handful*. Wayyyy too much energy for me to hang out with! :D

Joanna

Trap, Neuter, Return. It's the most humane and effective way to deal with feral cat populations

TinaFoo Spencer

Can totally relate to the *meh* goodbye to the human, but all the love to the cat!

Chris Kalin

Oh, so they only have to shave the cat/dog (like they would for surgery) but then don't have to actually guess if it's a battle scar or an incision scar because there's a tattoo there? That's smart, I've never heard of that! I'm one of the lucky 10,000 today!

E

I like this but I kinda object to Nicole trying to name the cat that seems to have adopted someone else…

Theadora

I don't think they'd even need to shave them, just get someone to hold the claws out of the way and look through the fur. :-)

Sky

You are *so good* at making dialogue that flows with realism and character personality.

dcorsetto

!! Thank youuu that means a lot to meeee!
