We had the pleasure of drawing my old college pal again tonight, whose proportions are my faaaavorite, they're so fun!!

Started out with five-minute poses that I wish we would've done the whole night:

Michael liked the fourth pose - the seated one - and wanted it for the rest of the night, but it was the only pose I didn't like! It was too stiff!! So luckily we settled on something a bit more open and loose.

Our model was so sweet about trying to put one foot out front JUST because she remembered I love foreshortening!! What a sweetheart!

The purple one was probably 40 minutes of the same pose. After that, the stool she was leaning against kept slipping, so the next 40 minutes were a slightly altered pose.

Can you tell that she was trying to simultaneously lean against, and clutch inwards on, the stool her arm was on? Props to our hard-working model for keeping the pose together for us!

I was a bit lazy about the planning on this one, but I really liked the colors and the lighting was fun. I was mixing a wide analogous scheme of colors together in my little plastic Prang palette the whole time: yellow-orange, red-orange, red-violet and violet-blue. Idk if that counts as analogous - it goes so far as to include complimentary colors - but it felt analogous.

I'm still not super confident about my use of color in general, but I do feel more confident about my knowledge of little tricks like using split complimentary or analogous color schemes to "fake it" successfully!

(I love typing "analogous" here because when I'm 4 letters in, Patreon comes up with a notice about the language I'm using. Insert smirking emoji here.)

They are all beautiful, but I agree you seem extra inspired in the 5-minute pieces! The way you can capture so much depth with just one puddle of shadow on her torso is really remarkable.
