The lamp looks great, though! And most of the closet is organized now.

The Scott Adams thing needs some context, because that tweet seems innocuous. I'm not up-to-date on every belief he holds now, but he's had a history of being hellbent on "proving" stereotypical differences between men and women and it's just... exhausting.

The book is Secret Ceremonies by Deborah Laake, the alpha male douchebag was a dude in Prometheus.

My housemate makes incredibly hot fires in the woodstove! And always lets me know if he's leaving the room while it's still roasting, so it doesn't go to waste. :)

I'd had chicken stock simmering for 6 hours right when Mark texted me. Soup and a scandalous book (the aforementioned one) and all three cats in a warm cozy room was a delicious treat.

And that's what we get for wearing exclusively black underwear.

Every confrontation. Why am I like this.

The post was about a bill that was introduced in WV senate that's trying to ban drag shows, but targets trans people?? The Venn diagram between drag queens and trans people is like, a sliver (trans drag queens are actually called "trans queens," which was news to me).

Drag shows are a different topic, but I was just so mad about trans people being dragged into it. I can't tell if the bill was written out of ignorance or malice.

ANYWAY, this week's dailies got heavy! Let's move on to something that's only literally heavy.

I feel like the strongest person on earth every time.

100 Gecs and Fever Ray!! The show will be ridiculous, I am STOKED.

Malice, to answer your question.

Jeremy Hornik

The GOOD BOOK/SCANDALOUS BOOK panels seems like they should be a meme

dcorsetto

I'm leaning in to reading trash instead of my favorite prose and so far it has not disappointed me.

Ken Carlile

agreed. It's all malice, and as the parent of a couple of gender-nonconforming kids, it's exhauting and terrifying.

Jemaleddin Cole

Oh man, I'm very lucky that last year Ottobar here in Baltimore started having shows again (at first you had to wear a mask and have been vaccinated, but that's less common) so I've been trying to see all the old bands I like before they stop touring and lots of new ones as well. Live music is just the best.

David Poole

We have the same malice going on here in Idaho.

Chris Driggers

Fever Ray! Their music is terrifying and I love it 🤣

Drazi

What nifty thing did you draw these in? Also, yah, malice. Especially since it's your state. The universe is currently hell for trans folks. And getting worse. 😭

Patricia Roy

I absolutely love these daily comics <3 :D

Laura J Testa-Reyes

Sometimes I think it would be nice to live in a red state for the lower cost of living, and such, and then I see things like the bill you talked about, and I remember why I live where I do. *sigh*. Such hatred.

dcorsetto

I was so bummed when I moved in and they told me the fireplace wasn't safe to use! So I figured this was a great alternative to having a live fire. ;)

dcorsetto

Ooohh yess!! Luke and I went to Ottobar at least three times for some great shows last year - somehow they kept bringing in our favorite nobody-knows-them bands!

dcorsetto

This is a half-used daily planner someone was getting rid of! It's called a Passion Planner, but I'm already picking out paper stock to have my own design printed and spiral-bound when this is up. :)

dcorsetto

On the other hand, if you're white/straight-presenting/cis/etc etc, living here gives you a much-needed voice for the state. And if you're not, there are viscously protective small towns like mine that will at least keep you safe in your neighborhood. (Tbh, though, Shepherdstown isn't really a cheap place to live, unless you're moving from an expensive city.)

Laura J Testa-Reyes

True, and since I pass as all those things, I could probably go anywhere. My wife, on the other hand, does not click those boxes, which is why she has speicfically asked if we ever move, to make sure that it is safe for her.

Monica Gallagher

I love these so much! And I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets excited about SOUP!!

NJGR

Oh, Danielle. We're in the same boat in North Dakota with SO MANY anti-trans bills masquerading as something else. I'm spending a lot of time tracking bills and writing letters, and colleagues are testifying left and right (censorship issues in libraries). It's malice, because the legislators responses are rude and dismissive when confronted. We also have a shitty one that would make giving ANY mRNA vaccine illegal in the state that is going through the process, so I am hoping intelligence will prevail (but I'm not sure if it will). BUT I also want to tell you how much I love these AND commiserate on the nervous sweating issues. My underboobs and armpits are jerks! Hmph.

Bori Vekony

+1 for nervous sweating, yikes! As for the scandalous book, I just recently said fuck it, and bought a light D&D-ish fantasy novel instead of A: heavy non-fiction or B: brainy fiction. What happened was that I actually started reading it and having fun, instead of putting it in a prominent place to remind me to start reading it, but actually just making me feel guilty for not reading.

Jemaleddin Cole

They had some of my long-time old-school faves, so I saw Bouncing Souls, Youth of Today and Agnostic front and it was like being a teen again, but to old to get in the pit. 😀

Ruth Merriam

Cleaning is often determined by exposure to light. I feel seen. I'm also running out of energy to be angry all of the time. I feel like I've been raging against the stupid and viciously spiteful for 50 years now.

Pavel Curtis

Okay, I have multiple standing lamps with stripped threads, just like yours, and I want to know much more about your dowel-and-PVC fix!!

Minzoku Bokumetsu

I don't really have a sweat issue unless I'm LITERALLY exercising or in the summer sun, but definitely avoid reading social media if I post anything contentious, especially as a direct response =p Also saw a tweet about, "How do we explain drag to children *whine whine*" "Sometimes adults like to play dress up" EASY PEASY "...but what about the BIGOTRY"

Fox

I enjoy these daily comics a lot!

Ursus Ridens

See, e.g., Legends & lattes : a novel of high fantasy and low stakes by Travis Baldree. The world's first cozy sword-and-sorcery book (I think). Or just go pick up almost anything by the late Terry Pratchett.

Justin du Coeur

*So* there with you on what it's like to engage on those political arguments. I tend not to sweat per se, but it's common for me to wind up so angry that I am literally shaking. (And sleep tends to be poor when I get het up like that.) (And while I haven't had bottled water in a fair number of years, I remember that feeling of accomplishment.)

Tim Pendergast

I wonder what my somewhat conservative parents and grandparents would think about all this drag queen hate today as I recall finding a flyer from a drag show they all saw in New Orleans before I was born and when I asked them about it they explained it to me in a very matter of fact way: men dressed as women singing and dancing. No muss, no fuss. How the world has changed in 50 years!

Tim Pendergast

I am now afraid to adopt any new lamps for my place for fear it will look even dirtier and more disorganized than I think it is already. That and the full knowledge that no room in it will look as great as that one in yours!

Bori Vekony

Legends & lattes is exactly what I'm reading right now! 😀 And Pratchett is a long-time favorite, I have practically all his books...

M Aidan

I love these so much ❤️

Haunted Hermit

As the one that moves the water jugs, I agree… but only that it IS a BIG accomplishment, not that it feels like one. 😅😅

Kate Wheeler

I had to say out loud to my partner just now: "DANIELLE CORSETTO JUST MAKES THE BEST COMICS." Reading through these is a delight.

Naufragous Kat

I just finally bit the bullet and Patreon’d for the sake of these comics, and I am loving them! I may be predisposed to this opinion because I know Scott Adams is and long has been Quite Problematic (I know Gannett finally pulled Dilbert chain-wide I believe sometime last year), but honestly, at this point I don’t think a tweet like that would come off as innocuous. I think just asking a question like that may be at least low-key signaling a certain viewpoint.

dcorsetto

Yeah, at this point he's not even making an effort to have the argument "that was taken out of context" be valid. Thank you for signing up here!! I needed to scratch the itch of wanting to make comics that are done in a day, now that I'm in the middle of this superlong 600-page slow-moving graphic novel... so I'm glad others are enjoying that scratch, too. :)
