I wanted to do a whole week's worth of commentary on AI art but then got bored with the idea.

In my defense, this one was a fast-moving video, so it wasn't immediately obvious to me that it was AI. Here's a link to it! (Unpopular opinion: I think AI-produced "art" is fucking rad, but it obviously needs restrictions.)

Also I went to New Jersey to see my friends that I love so much (Wild Pig Comics, Bill and Dani from All New Issues, and the Comic Geek Speak Guys) and I got all wistful and emotional about seeing them. So:

Here's what I think about while scooping the litter box:

At least one of you follows me here and I hope you see this, I love you and you deserve an extremely good partner. (Even if you're not the person I'm talking about, you can just apply that to yourself you badass single human.)

I have never felt so trolled by a user's manual.

Think I figured it out.

Thanks for being my audience for these, I love making them so much!!

So what does the laundry smell like after Fennel scoops up the smell?

Monica Gallagher

I love these little glimpses into your world!

Oliver

Great comics (as ever). The troll-manual one in particular really tickled me (and almost redirected my tea towards my keyboard).

Tim Pendergast

Never had a cat that liked laundry, although I had one that liked the laundry basket: He would jump in when it was empty (a very rare thing!) and lick it!

Hugh Eckert

"Serial Bird Murderer" would be a great band name/album title.

Patricia Rodriguez

I love your comics! I'm sorry your friends are not becoming suddenly single. The politics of today are pressuring so many to distance themselves from the LGBTQ community. It breaks my heart. 🥺

Oh! I don't know if I'm misunderstanding you, but moving away from the queer community isn't the issue; I just happen to have a lot of queer friends whose long-term relationships are ending. Actually, I guess I could just end that at "I happen to have a lot of queer friends!" It's normal stuff, just sad, and even sadder that it's happening to such great people. But I guess I'm at the age where myself and my friends are subject to midlife crises and their aftermaths, you know?

Your lines are so clean and expressive! I love looking at these daily comics, and the panel with you holding Fennel had such a sweet, peaceful expression it inspired me to sketch that face and make a similar doodle of myself <3

We had one of those smartflaps, so the neighbour’s very smart cat wouldn’t enter through it. At some point, one of our cats’ microchip malfunctioned and we had to disable the smart function. By then, this very smart neighbour cat had learnt that he can’t get in that way, so he never even tried again!

I enjoy these a lot! Thanks for sharing them.

William Cole

Ah, I hope my Garden State treated you well!

Robert Tucker

I think AI is a tool like any others, and like any other tool it can be used for good or ill. It's just an easier tool than most in the field of visual art

Sabine Dem

I love your daily comics so much! They are funny and quirky and they have cats in it! What else do you need to brighten up your day? :-)

Ruth Merriam

One of our cats is obsessed with pulling things through the holes in the side of the laundry basket. He's also wild about jumping into, and subsequently knocking over, my husband's hamper (lightweight IKEA model). The latter has to do with the delightful smell of daddy's dirty laundry.

I would love to have a snuggle weekend with longtime friends. That sounds like bliss - except for the sleeping on the floor bit. Air mattresses, double-height, ftw. So I'm not the only one who has OOBEs while cleaning out the litterboxes? Again, thank you for these tender moments in your life.

Ursus Ridens

Ten thousand thanks for these dailies. But um, robot cat door? Do you think maybe that it was meant to work best with robot cats? (The ones you have seem much better than robots would be.)

Ursus Ridens

I for one welcome our new smartflap overlords.

Amy Crook

I absolutely adore these comics! Also if you've got a morning-person friend who wants to live with 8 cats in upstate New York, we could use someone to get the kid on the bus and keep our plants from dying. XD

Patricia Rodriguez

Oh now I understand what you mean. I'll be honest, with the political climate targeting the queer community, it makes me hyper vigilant over these things. Thank you for clarifying! ❤️

I have seen AI art that was definitely neat, but the fact is people are using it as a replacement for PAID WORK, and while AI art for fun is fine and cool, the PAID WORK REPLACEMENT definitely needs to come under restriction (emphasis on the fact it cannot be copyrighted because the copyright belongs to the AI, which cannot enforce the claim, is one way)

Minzoku Bokumetsu

I have absolutely had thoughts enter my head when cleaning up or standing near something absolutely horrible, about consuming said horrible substance, and 🤢🤮 (I have thankfully never followed up on any such disgusting impulse)

NJGR

Well, that sure was a turd whirlwind of a story! Rosie stinks us out of house and home lately (new prescription food), so we're never tempted to go back to the Old Turd Toosie World. -Jess

Eventually! But man, the SHADE I had to fumble through to get there!

I want to sign up for that App and meet your amazing (and also single) friends, however I fear I'm on the wrong side of the globe for it to be of any use, all the way 'Down Under'.
