Back at it this week! We had my old college friend in to model again and I love her so much. :)

Five minute warmups...

... blended in with sketches for the final pose...

Since that last sketch was upside-down, here it is rightside-up next to a photo of the final sketch on watercolor paper...

Actually, hold the phone, I REALLY liked that last five-minute sketch. Computer, zoom in.

That was a fun one. :) Okay, proceed.

I didn't outlaw yellow entirely, but I've been very mindful not to use yellow ALONE. It's always mixed with a little green or orange now.

Ah, and then I tried to outline everything. I stopped when I realized that I was doing fine without the outlines - or the shadows indicating a background, ugh! - and left some of the shapes un-outlined.

But since I'd already laid in purple shadows for the background pieces, I went ahead and painted the furniture in:

... the same colors as the fabric they were draped in, instead of picking a unified hue. *tosses paintbrush into the air*

Ah, well. IT'S A PRACTICE!! And within that practice, I still had a few favorite parts.

I am SO glad I left her face subtle.

And her chest and right shoulder. And I even loved this sorta ambiguous monster hand!

Still don't know what happens within a Knee, but I think I'm faking it well.

And this foot was hard, but it turned out pretty okay!

We're doing the next several months without our comrade Tim, as he's putting his time & energy into teaching swimming at the college, and we miss him already! We'll survive somehow. Maybe we'll just start talking to him as if he's there anyway, and make up his answers to our questions.
