As I mentioned in last week's daily comics, I had lunch plans with my brother on Hourly Comic Day, so I planned to run out-of-state errands and enjoy my day out instead of killing myself to get ALL of my hourlies done the same day.

Last week's dailies will also explain this (deserved) jab at Fennel. 😏

Did this realization change anything? Of course not.

Look, sometimes they're GOOD poop dreams.

(It's the best antique store. The best.)

(Here's the second-best:)

Nobody would put this on their wall unless they planned to eat you later.

Jocelyn Mackenzie (formerly of Pearl and the Beard) is incredible at everything. I usually belt out the lyrics on Push (self-empowering pop with a string quartet!) because they're so fun to sing, but she's also a magnificent lyricist, and I owed her a more thoughtful listen.

In the YMCA gym, we were spread out super far from each other, and the acoustics were just... [imagine having a conversation during a middle school basketball practice] <- like that.

Someone clip us out of the Martinsburg Journal for me, please.

I love Shane and Pang but Mazzy-hug was the highlight of my day.

Pip sometimes forgets that he gets fed upstairs because HE can not stand to eat next to the SWINE that are Ollie and Fennel.

Kinda forgot that these need to be replaced eventually. (They're not even that expensive, I'm just being a little bitch.)

Props to Fishball for inspiring me to improve my drawings of lumps under & over bedsheets. She always nails it.

That's it! Thanks for humoring my decision to take my time on these instead of hurrying through them last Thursday. I already rush through my dailies, I felt like I owed it to myself to make some comics that feel more polished and finished. (These are still a bit rough, but more finished than the dailies!)

Speaking of comics that are more polished, this week I'm going to schedule my return to Elephant Town. Secret Project is STILL in limbo, so I told my editors I was going to get back to my own projects and I'll just drop everything when they're finally ready to go. I'll keep y'all posted. :)

Danielle: puts a necklace on Ollie so he can't kill birds... :D Also Danielle: eats a whole pre-killed bird at once... D:

Monica Gallagher

AHH your dailies/hourlies/lifelies are always so beautiful and fun! And now that I know Serial Killer Cross-Stitch exists, I need to know what other terrifying slogans are out there, lying in wait!

Rachel E.

Kinda makes me want to make one of my own Serial Killer Cross-stitches (as a joke, of course) so my family can donate it when I'm gone. 😁

Jamie Noguchi

GAHHHH!!! The discipline it takes to do these every year, you amaze me!!

Amy Crook

Aah I love these! And now I will unironically rec you fancy-ass mail-order dental floss, cocofloss.com which works magic on my sad little gums. it's very gentle and thorough!

Ross Carey

A huge thank you for leading me to "My Giant Nerd Boyfriend* *now husband) by Fishball. It's wonderful.

dcorsetto

HAHAHA this is the floss Luke ordered that we were both a little disappointed in because they don't TASTE like the scent they advertise! (I think they needed to emphasize "scent" on the packaging!) I was so bummed by the lack of flavor I didn't consider the texture - I'll give it another whirl, thanks!

Amy Crook

hah! i thought it might be, tbh i cared not about flavor when the texture was exactly what i wanted, it's exactly like my beloved discontinued floss

dcorsetto

You mean the discipline to lazily text myself an hourly record, and then draw it out over the course of four days?? Hahaha!!

dcorsetto

I'm still cackling at this, I can't believe I didn't notice until you said something.

dcorsetto

Oohh finding a replacement for a beloved discontinued thing is so satisfying!

Leak

Oh? I could have sworn this was on purpose... :)

Leak

Spoilers! ;)

Dean Reilly

I can only assume that the cross-stitch came with a set of wind chimes made from human fingerbones.

dcorsetto

I read that as "human fingertoes" and, yes.

Robin the Bun

one thing i miss about twitter is Hourly Comic Day. Also, i wish either of my cats would sleep with me. but my bed is small and they are butts

Andy Ihnatko

It occurred to me on Feb. 1 that doing "Hourly Comic Day, But On Venus" would be a 100% attainable goal for me. A day on Venus is 243 Earth days. So, assuming we start the day at 8 AM (and I post an "hour" later), I don't even need to post my first strip until May 2. And then, I'll have more than ten days to post the next one.

Michael Jantze

What a beating. Relax. Enjoy the dark winter. Read a book (not yours). ;-)

Michael Jantze

You will STILL fall behind. You know that’s how it works.

Minzoku Bokumetsu

I bought a whole entire new thing of nibs and wore one out from barely drawing anything =( nibs, man!

Joanna

It's silly of me, but I have to ask: the tall guy in the back of your yoga studio photo, does he actually have an amputation, or did you just leave out his other leg when you were drawing that? (I can't manage yoga with all my limbs intact, I'd be amazed at someone doing it while one down.)

Dirk Bergstrom

I think they're all doing a one-leg pose, and his other one is obscured behind someone.

Zombicatures by Stan Yan

I've yet to do this once. I need to do this one year, since I stopped doing 24 hour comic book day (after 10 years in a row of doing and running events for it). Too bad it's always at the end of Caricature Resolution, but if I do it the quick and dirty way like I did this year, I think I should have enough energy to do it next year.

M Aidan

Huzzah!!

Andy Ihnatko

(1) How dare you, and (2) Fair.

dcorsetto

It was an entirely enjoyable beating. I'd been enjoying the dark winter a little too much alreaday!

dcorsetto

Then some outrageously talented 20-something on Venus casually posts their collection of hourly comics chronicling one 5,832-hour day on Venus, all completed in one Earth day, and calls it "a sketch."

dcorsetto

Look it up! I may need to have them in the future; for now, my brother's been the guinea pig.

dcorsetto

Hah! I didn't draw his foot by accident, and just shoved a tiny dark shape below his crotch to suggest a foot - same as the drawing of me, but he can probably get it up farther!

dcorsetto

TEN YEARS of 24HCD?!?! Stan, I think you can give yourself a break - that challenge is WAY harder than Hourly Comic Day! Amazing. Cool that you did Caricature Resolution, too! I've only managed to do the whole January challenge once!

Zombicatures by Stan Yan

Yep. This is my collection of all but one of my 24 hour comic stories: https://www.amazon.com/Fail-Year-Stan-Yan-ebook/dp/B00G1VNIG0?ref_=ast_author_dp&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.B47W4F32p6iQU-F5A1DP1TQ6Q6SYChTP5qx66nsW_MJgCb1juLweuwb4PCwZuNrgTpoMQRty2i__9Qhu1Wm_uO1LTv2lusBo8g4SO59wISUOEoENuE7l_kGfVRMdKR9OHZAigFaUhGrxyouGCOUYKmfRxTaauTVms5qVLV0X2n3mXp1TEBTdUAqyDTBWaImwdKdQaVQBC0T47T6NoYB7ioXm2fT73jNF1esZvUzmea0.b51eMM1a-7hW_9n3Jw7ajG5pFuwZ594yXU9D5yzTWvA&dib_tag=AUTHOR

Zombicatures by Stan Yan

I've done Caricature Resolution every year since 2020. I almost feel incomplete. I'm sure it won't last forever. If I've got to work on two books at once one year, I guarantee I won't do it.

Meisterj

The finals look so cute and detailed. I always loose steam if I try making them too detailed and didn't quite get to them this year. Thanks for sharing a peek into your day, it was a busy one

Andy Ihnatko

And they've added a comment that says "RRRGH why do I even TRY to draw ragnak manya? I _SUCK_ at drawing ragnak manya!" And at one glance I can see it's clearly a perfect drawing of a ragnak manya. Even though I've never been to Venus and have no idea what a ragnak manya looks like, or even what (or possibly who) it is, but nonetheless...

dcorsetto

I definitely assumed you meant "Ragnarok manga" until you wrote it that way four times.

Andy Ihnatko

Ragnarok manga? With layouts/breakdowns by Walt Simonson, finishes by Hajime Isayama? I'd TOTALLY buy that comic!

Theadora

I've had one; they took material from the roof of my mouth. It worked great, and as long as I use an electric toothbrush (to keep from pushing my gums away from my teeth like I did with the manual) and change the head every 6 months I'm unlikely to need another. Best of luck!

Tim Pendergast

I wonder if they can cover all the places I used to have teeth?
