I felt there was a need of an overview for beginners here at Patreon. What are the best tutorials to get started? With so much content, it's getting harder to find what you need, especially when you are new to this community. So let me help you on your way with this little overview! Of course you can always check all of the video content through this overview post or by using the search filter 'overview' (<-- just click it and you'll see)

Learning how to draw

The tutorials here at Patreon are a step up from the You Can Draw This videos that are free to watch at YouTube. In the videos here at Patreon, I will walk you through the entire drawing and painting process. So this includes making a sketch, the part we skip in the You Can Draw This videos, but which is quite crucial in the creative process. I have created a video about how you can easily sketch from life (this video is also attached to my ebook about sketching) Or you can get started with the Learn to Sketch series!

Watch the Learn to Sketch classes

Want to learn more about painting realism? Then learning about edges and values is very important. I have made an exercise that is great to train yourself when it comes to this subject. I have attached multiple images of a cloth to the lesson so you can try this exercise multiple times.

But I have also made a Flo's Fundamentals series. In each class we cover a different subject like clouds, rocks, fur, fabric and more.

Learning all about Procreate

Are you still fairly new to Procreate or do you just want to know about all the features and how to get started painting? Then you'll want to check out my Skillshare class Procreate 5: The basics of Digital Painting It's a great base to get started with before you dive into the more advanced tutorials.

These classes are a great place to start, but of course you can also just pick a subject you like in the OVERVIEW POST.

Have fun creating! And remember, you can always reach out to me if you have any questions. I'm here to help 😊

Hello, I am a new member, just found you through design cuts. All I can say is that your tutorials are awesome, have learned so much already and have just begun.

Art with Flo

Thank you so much! That's great to hear ❤️

Marie Torsnes

hi! i really love your tutorials and i am so glad i found this page! ive been following your sketching tutorials but i notice i overthink and spend too much time on small details that in the end make my drawing look misproportioned.. do you have any good tips for me? ☺️

Hello Flo I have been trying to contact you for days on YouTube with no response. I purchased your bundle and was charged the full price of over $160 instead of the discount price of $ 25.00. What can we do to correct this. Thank you

Art with Flo

Please Ray, there’s no need to comment the same text on a whole bunch of my Patreon posts. Like I said in my first response: I responded to your YouTube comment right away, three days ago. The best way to reach me is by emailing me at floortje@artwithflo.com and giving me the email address you used for your purchase. That way I can find you in the system and issue a refund for you.

Thank you so much for your Tutorials! For the first time I am confident that I can realize my childbook-project! :) I'd love to learn more about painting with watercolors, especially big cities like New York. I find it very difficult to paint so many small houses in different distances or do a background with watercolors with the view of this huge city. :)

Art with Flo

That's great to hear Angelika! I'm happy you're enjoying my tutorials. Painting big cities with watercolors sure is challenging, to be honest I'm not even sure myself where I should start 🤪 But I'll keep this subject in mind, thanks for the suggestion

Angelika

Wow - when even YOU find it difficult I am lost xD

Angelika

😃 But a human with amazing skills! I am a beginner and trying to paint New York City with water colors right now - it's kinda relieving that you think it's difficult too. But your videos help a lot!

Thanks for the information. I joined the $15 a month patreon on my computer. When I go to my ipad where procreate is and go to patreon.com it says I only have a free membership with Art With Flo. How do I get my ipad to be able to access the paid patreon videos so I can download the brushes and pallettes. Thanks.

Art with Flo

On your iPad you might be logged in with your Apple ID instead of your email address. Please make sure you log in at Patreon in a browser like Safari or Chrome on your iPad and then use your log in details 👍🏻

Susie Buckman

hi Flo thank you so much for all that you have taught me and the amazing person you are you are helping me grow my skills as an artist even though I am only 11 you inspire me to do more art and at a very early start in my life my mom also loves ur videos and likes to follow along!

Art with Flo

That's so great to hear Susie! I think it's wonderful that you are starting at a young age. Keep creating!

Hi Flo - this set of videos especially the first two really jelled for me the drawing style of moving from rough sketch to refined drawing - I've made the mistake in the past of going for perfection right from the first line drawn. I very much appreciate your teaching style and your level of output of new projects - looking forward to using one of the Christmas themes recently posted for Christmas card.

Art with Flo

For prints I'd suggest making a canvas using the dimensions in inches and then setting the dpi to 300, Procreate will give you the proper amount of pixels then.

Art with Flo

Thank you Dennis, I'm delighted to hear that. I might want to work on some more videos that are similar to those first two. Have fun with your Christmas card project!

Lydia Ortiz-Lugo

Hi Flo, I have a few questions about printing as well. I'm new to your Patreon account, and I'm not sure if you cover this elsewhere. If I want to print stickers, what are the correct pixels size (canvas size) to use? Can I use a DPI higher than 300? Do I need to use CMYK, P3 or sRGB? Thanks for your help!

Art with Flo

That totally depends on the size of the sticker. Usually printing companies give instructions on minimal file size and color profile to use.

Flo, you are one of the best instructors I've found. When you start with basics, you mean it. You don't assume a level of understanding. In the short time I've cruised your page, I have learned so much more about drawing, and gotten a better foothold in Procreate than any package that I've tried. Thanks so much. More space paintings, please. :D

Art with Flo

That's really wonderful to hear, thank you so much!

I’m brand new to Procreate and to you Flo, but I did 4 different YCDT tutorials yesterday and I loved it so much I became a member and plan to work on my sketching in Procreate for the first time. Thanks for your great content!

Thank you so much, that's wonderful :D If you ever have any questions, please feel free to reach out. I'm here to help
