Hey everyone! I hope you're all doing well and feeling excited as we step into a few brand-new adventures together. This week is the official launch of our Sci-Fi era, and I genuinely couldn't be more excited for it! This has been a long time coming, and I'm so ready to jump in. Here's what's coming up: 🎟️ The Prestige (Sorry for the delay- Uploading Tomorrow!)Between some rough seasonal migraines that graced me on Friday and then Easter weekend with the family coming in hot, this one fell through the cracks last week! But I'm super ready to dive into the magic and mystery of this one. Thank you for your patience!🎟️ A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the ForumOur next movie ticket pick by Sterling! This one totally surprised me as a pick- comedy, drama, and wait... a musical?? This will actually be my first ever musical reaction, which is so fun and a little nerve-wracking in the best way. Huge thanks for this unexpectedly exciting pick!🌌 Battlestar Galactica (BSG) Begins! As suggested, I'll be jumping in with the Miniseries that apparently sets the whole universe in motion! I've heard so much about the depth and emotion in this show, and I'm already bracing myself to fall deep into this world (is it called a 'verse like Firefly???)✨ Star Wars - A New Hope (Episode IV)Yep, you read that right- we're going in release order! After all of your amazing feedback and opinions, I'm watching Star Wars the way YOU experienced it when it first came out. Starting with Episode IV feels like a wild concept, and I'm really curious to see why George Lucas chose to begin the saga this way. I know how special this series is for so many of you, and I feel honored to finally begin the journey here. ☣️ The Last of Us - Season 2, Episode 3 (Late Sunday Night Drop)I'm heading back in Sunday night. I'll be real with you all. I'm still reeling from the episode last night. It really flipped my entire perception of the show and I can't help but go into the next episode with a mix of caution and curiosity. Holding space for whatever comes next, but it just doesn't feel the same.. 👀 MCU UPDATE: I'm taking this week off MCU content while I get YouTube caught up with WandaVision episodes. Next week, I'm jumping back in with Black Widow! See you all there!Thank you as always for being here and sharing these journeys with me. I know this week is going to be so much fun, and I hope you're excited for it! 💚 Kali

Yooooo BSG and Star Wars!!!! This is the Sci-Fi week!! I’m sooooo god damn excited! You will love both BSG and Star Wars. When does BSG come out today or tomorrow? Edit: Btw you are gonna fall in love with Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell. All of their scenes together are amazing!

Oh wow I don't know think I've even heard of "A Funny Thing..." before, or if I have I've long since forgotten. Seems to be included in Prime video in most places. Looking forward to this and all the other watch alongs!

Star Wars is the definition of space opera. Heavy sci-fi and drama. It changed the sci-fi genre forever. Wonderful cast and story. My ADD cannot wait for this reaction. Never seen BSG, so I'm excited for it. What a wonderful week to come.

The fact that you're opening the doors to the amazing worlds of both Star Wars and BSG in the same week is sooooo cool and exciting!! Can't wait to kick both of these off over here. And having Prestige this week too is just the icing on the cake haha Looking ahead, I watched Black Widow for myself over the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. So definitely looking forward to seeing you watch that next week!

Imho BSG is the greatest Sci-Fi show ever made. The mini series to start out is one of the best introductions to a show I’ve ever seen! It’s a 3 hour movie and it’s amazing! It goes by soooooo fast!

I picked a really really good fucking week to sign up for the Patreon! Couldn’t have timed it better! She’s literally reacting to two of my favorite Sci-Fi/Space dramas ever made! I’m sooooo excited! My ADHD is not gonna be able to handle the wait LOL 😂

Joined when I saw you are doing Battlestar! So excited!

Even the astonished face emoji doesn't go far enough in communicating how incredibly exciting it is to be part of this amazing channel! 😲 Thanks for this amazing content, Kali!

Very hyped for your Star Wars journey to begin! Just so you can get your head in the right space first, you have to think about what kind of impact this first movie had in the analog 70s. It was the time of disco and punk, bell-bottoms, gas shortages, and leftover hippies jaded with fresh cynicism after the Vietnam War and Watergate scandal. The cultural phenomenon Star Wars caused was absolutely huge; no one had seen anything like this before. One of my aunts said she saw it 20 times at the theater that summer. Adjusted for inflation it is still one of the highest-grossing movies of all time. In my opinion they keep getting better but of course I’ll be eager to get your take on that, as well as who your favorite characters are, etc. Much like the MCU, the Star Wars Cinematic Universe spawned a huge wave of comics and merch, book series, spin-offs, and the like. Can’t wait to see how it unfolds for you.

Looking forward to your Star Wars journey! And yes, release order is the best way to experience it! 😊

Oh wow, I am excited that my movie ticket fell on such an iconic week! Do you mean to say that you have never seen a musical? Or just that you have never reacted to one on the channel? I will leave my story about Star Wars until the reaction.... But I do have a question! Are you going to react to the Wookie Christmas Special? Truly iconic cinema history! LOL I am in the boat with many and have never seen BSG. I have heard good things about it just never gotten around to watching. So you will be giving me an excuse to watch along! Have a great week!

MotoDork

I don’t know if you’ve watched Star Wars yet, but if you haven’t I would implore you to watch the despecialized versions of all three.

Doug Watson

Oh Kali, I really wish you could watch the version of Star Wars I saw originally. It's so much better without all of George Lucas' special defects. Anyway hope you enjoy it.

Russell Rutigliano

Oh dude BSG is amazing you will love it. One of the best sci-fi shows ever made. Get ready for one heck of a journey! Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonell are out of this world good in it. Every scene they have with each other is can’t look away TV.

Richard

One thing that might be interesting about the launch of Sci-Fi era, will watching a modern show like BSG make Star Wars seem "dated"? SW is very much about older, more traditional values, when people believed in good and bad and not everything was a gray area. Will be an interesting contrast in styles.

McShades

With Star Wars you kind of need to go in release order otherwise the prequels will ruin some plot twists from the original movies. That said, you could watch Andor (Final Season 2 starts today), Andor leads into Rogue One Movie which then leads into A New Hope. Yeah I know, it gets complicated with all these prequel movies and tv shows, lol. To keep it simplified you can just watch everything in release order. Also, since you've never seen the originals, watching the Lucas re-released versions of the films will be fine, besides, I believe you can only find the untouched original films on VHS tapes.
