These episodes cracked open the hearts of every single character & I was totally here for it. Even Baltar and the cylons, in a way? We got to really sink into those messy, complicated layers of everyone's minds. The regrets, the longing, the choices that they'll never outrun. It felt so intimate and raw. Episode 8 felt like we were actually onboard the Galactica watching the fights go down. Rooting for our favorites, breaking right along with them, feeling their frustrations and pains. Then episode 9 came in and just hit me with all of the emotional chaos. I admit I never really had much of a thing for Kat. She was okay, but anyone that disses on Starbuck doesn't have a place in my favorites. Then this episode right here is what reminds me why I love this show so much. It's not just about space battles or mythology (even though YES that stuff is incredible and I love it as well). It's about the way these characters keep stumbling forward with all their flaws and still show up. Once again, this show brought a character forward that I didn't really care for and made me care way too much. And I can't help but be so impressed by that alone.See you all next week for more! One of my favorite parts of the week! BSG!

"His fluids are still in her vagina!" Put that one at the top of the list of, "Things I wasn't expecting to hear Kali say today"! LMFAO

Kat was never a favorite character of mine either. She was too much like Starbuck and it never felt like she earned the ego and attitude she had, it just made her unlikeable for me. I always have conflicted feeling with this episode because of that. Kat was a criminal and may have contributed to the success of the Cylon attack by trafficking them in. So now we have to ask, can enough good deeds make up for bad ones? With Kat, I can appreciate and applaud her courage and fortitude in her sacrifice - but it comes with an asterisk.

I recommend that you watch the extended version of Unfinished Business on your own to get more New Caprica scenes.

kaliwali

True and good points! I also disliked her for the same reasons. Her attitude sucked, a lot.

Buckle up, what's coming up next is epic. :)

I had such a hard time watching episode 7. Was like watching a show underwater! ...oh right it was the tears 🥲

Thanks for taking the time to try to get the extended version of Unfinished Business for us. I see that you have already agreed to watch it, I hope during your rewatch. I feel that the only advantage that the standard episode has is Bear's music in the cold open. It's really beautiful and the scenes are cut so well to it. Other than that, I love the extra scenes in the extended version of this episode because I want every but of lore that I can get!

I think one of Lee's character flaws is that he has a semi-rebellious side of him, and that attracts him to Kara. But Kara's living it fully-- she's got SO much attitude behind her actions so when Lee's around her, he kinda... de-matures, in a sense. It's like he starts absorbing that aspect of her and it amplifies his own messy side. But, as Dee lectures him, "And the truth is, you're a soldier who needs a war. You don't want to hear it because you think that your father's the soldier, and you sure don't want to be like him." Because he's not, he kinda crumbles and starts making awful decisions that seem uncharacteristic-- but it is very him... when he gets in too deep into his hotshot-side.

The theme for this whole set of episodes was definitely how messy we all are. Perfectly imperfect as a race. And we just have to embrace that, and learn, and keep moving forward. Everyone was highlighted in these: Lee, Starbuck, Adama, and of course Kat. Her episode showed just how amazing this show can be in all of the ways. I really never thought much about her beyond just being an agitator side-character, yet her death hit harder than most of the big moments we've had in this show so far. And the theme that Bear McCreary composed for her.... my goodness

"His fluids are still in her vagina" while knife-handing cracked me up lol

McShades

When the shows played we couldn't hear anything outside your house. So your good...

kaliwali

Yes! This is such a great explanation of Lee

kaliwali

Omg yes. McCreary's score for Kat's final walk to her ship was goosebump city 😭 So powerful & really made you feel all of the emotions 10x harder

kaliwali

That's good! I looked outside after to see what the heck was happening and I guess they compiled all the leaves on our road and of course put them right in front of our house and that's where they were bagging them up 🤣

Marek Stępień

Not wanting to spoil anything, so I'm going to say just this about the next two episodes: From action to mythology to astrophysics :)

KJ

I feel bad for Sam and Dee. And even Lee. Kara really messed them around and messed them up. So messy.
