I absolutely love this show so far, bro! Clint has always been one of my favorites because of how deeply he loves his family. So seeing him try to navigate this messy, chaotic, post-Endgame world hit me just like I thought it would. There's something so human about watching a man who has saved the world a dozen times struggle to be present for a movie night. Or to convince a waitress that he really doesn't expect them to pay the bill. He's tired. He's still grieving. He's trying. You can just feel how much he wants to get home for Christmas and be with his family again. And then there's Kate Bishop. Chatty chaos in its truest form. I love how she storms into Clint's life like a tornado. She's absolutely convinced that she can keep up but is always two steps away from total disaster. Their dynamic is a really refreshing and fun surprise! She looks at him like he's this mystical hero, while he's just trying to keep her from being crushed by the consequences of his own past. Of Ronin's past. Watching his exhaustion with her wild energy is actually a bit healing? Like they're teaching each other how to balance it all out. Or at least, trying their best to lol. These episodes have a really awesome mix of holiday warmth and real emotional shadows. The show doesn't shy away from Clint's guilt and struggles. You can see them in every wince and flinch at the mention of Ronin. But it also gives so much space for humor and humanity. The LARPing, the gooey arrows, the awkward "welp, guess I'm a mentor now". It feels like a reminder that even when we feel the most broken, there's still room for light and laughs. I can't wait to finish out this show with you all next week!Thank you for your support on Patreon!Relax and enjoy 🍿🌿SYNC ALONG LINK: https://youtu.be/NwvQLkr-G9wI watched this on Disney+

If there was actually a Rogers The Musical I think I would buy tickets to it. Anytime I re-watch Captain America scenes where he says “I can do this all day” in my head he’s singing it 😂

kaliwali

I had that stuck in my head the entire rest of the day 🤣🤣🤣

Phil Stubblefield

Yay! I've been looking forward to this one. Thanks, Kali! 🏹 😁

Giancarlo Gasparin

Hailee Steinfeld is on such a run. From voicing Vi in Arcane to Spider-Gwen in the Spiderverse movies, and now Hawkeye. She’s so much fun to watch.

Dave Hill

So looking forward to hitting this series up again with you later today!!! :)

rubberkidney

thank goodness they made a series about this hawkeye adjacent girl, and not actually hawkeye. that would have been horrible.

Joe

Excited about this one. The series is inspired by a great run of comics by Matt Fraction about Hawkeye, Kate, and Pizza Dog. The art style from the intro is directly out of the comics. If you are ever looking to dip your toes into the comics, I think it would be a good one to check out since it does not depend on other story lines and you like the characters. You mentioned recognizing the fiancé. You may have seen him in other things, but you saw him recently as Joel's father in the Last of Us flashback in season 2. Kate is such a great character and I am looking forward to continuing her journey with you.

Darian Harman

Lol. Not "bro". This is a yearly rewatch for me, and you're posting this just in time. I'm glad they didn't go as dark as the comics went with this story, but as Joe's comment below states, it's recommendation-worthy.

I've been really loving this one so far! How perfect did it work out too for you to watch this during Christmas time haha. I know you're really enjoying too because it's really highlighting all the reasons that Hawkeye ended up in your top Avengers list! The humble, unassuming, family man, torn between what he wants to be, and what he has been. Kate is awesome too, and I really love their dynamic! The tracksuit mafia is soooo unserious too in the best of ways, and I love them for that LOL. Made for a very fun car chase too! (except the fate of that Challenger). Great reaction, bro!

pinkdino99

Hey bro. Clint's face looks a heck of a lot like mine when I am subjected to musicals. I know you love Clint and his family, but that is the biggest departure from the comics which is so surprising knowing Kevin Feige. In the comics Barton did not have a family. He briefly married one of my fave Marvel characters Mockingbird (Bobbi Morse) whom he had an on and off relationship. Morse actually shows up in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (recommended yadda yadda yadda...) but has no mention of Hawkeye in that show. Clint in the comics is a bit of a hothead and a bit of a loser. He started out as a criminal before joining The Avengers where he constantly butted heads with Cap. The car chase scene with the Track Suit Bros is almost panel for panel what was in the book. For anyone that wants a read this series is based on Hawkeye v4. v5 is awesome too for more Kate Bishop (in LA), then All New Hawkeye v1 and v2 are also amazing. Some incredibly stylish art in these books (the covers for v4 are so inventive), and they are really funny.

2026-09-07 13:00 A lot of reactors miss this, as it's just background dialogue hard to pick up without subtitles, but someone in the kitchen does mention Gary while Kate is rushing through chasing Armand. I'd like to think that she picked up on that. The other, less interesting explanation, is that she knows who's (by name, at least) the head of service for her mother's own fund raising gala.

"...the biggest departure from the comics which is so surprising knowing Kevin Feige." FWIW, the MCU has never been obligated to follow the existing comics all that closely, per Fiege himself some years back. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

kaliwali

This was so much fun! Looking forward to next week already!

William

Fellow Clint Barton fan here as well, so I've been looking forward to this reaction from you. I'm sure you're going to love where this goes. ;)

Eric Stewart

I never watched this because I thought it would suck. But it's definitely worth watching!

I cannot overstate how much I love this show. It's goofy in places, but intentionally so. When it dips into the emotional stuff it does so very effectively. I'm glad of the addition of Kate Bishop to the MCU, she's such a blast! I kind of hate that they subtitle Nathaniel's (Clint's youngest kid) side of the conversation on Disney+. It's clearly meant to be unintelligible. It makes the reveals of Kate's notes more poignant when you don't know what he's saying. So many of my favorite moments from this show are still to come in the second half! 🤩 I love a good musical more than most, but... Wow. That Rogers musical looks corny as hell. 🤣 Definitely an off-Broadway production.

Onno Smits

Kali is so offended someone doesn't like Imagine Dragons! 😂

eladrin22

This was the first time I noticed "Stane Tower"... Obviously named for Obadiah Stane. Given what he did in Iron Man one, if she didn't destroy it, someone else should have XD

Phil Stubblefield

And I'm pretty sure she just got married to some no-name, lame-o dude... Uh, Josh Allen, I think? 😉

Lastboyscout73

Pizza Dog....Fury...ok I'm sorry but I could not stop laughing.

Joe is right about the Matt Fraction/David Aja comics run storyline and aesthetic for the show. Hawkeye's Ronin alter ego was part of a previous comics run, but the Fraction/Aja run references it as part of his past (it's one of my favorite Avengers comics series). While the Hawkeye show is the first time Ronin was specifically named, we knew that's who he was when we saw him in Endgame because we were familiar with that comics run. In the comics, Pizza Dog belonged to the Tracksuits and both Pizza Dog and Hawkeye saved each other while he took them on, and Hawkeye gave him a slice of pizza as he recovered. The name for the Japanese mafia is actually pronounced "YAH-ku-za" (it is a combination of the words for 8, 9 and 3, which add up to 20, a worthless score in a Japanese card game similar to 21, implying that all Yakuza have no worth outside of the gang). And Clint was called Ronin for that persona because ronin translates from Japanese to "wanderer", and it referred to samurai who had no lord to serve in times of peace (like those in The Last Samurai feared becoming), so they wandered the country looking for work as bodyguards, mercenaries and such. So Clint was like a ronin because he was lost after he lost his family. Also, "Save the City" (i.e. the "I can do this all day" song) was written by legendary stage and screen composer Marc Shaiman, whose work you've previously heard in A Few Good Men (he did a lot of work for Rob Reiner, as well as the music for Hocus Pocus, the South Park movie and Mary Poppins Returns). And "P-Y-M" gave me a good chuckle. Looking forward to the second half next week. Cheers!

I really enjoyed this show when it came out. Can't wait for you to watch the next three episodes. You'll love them. Trust a bro. I had a good chuckle when you mentioned the dog being Nick Fury. I immediately thought to myself Nick Furry. Lol. Also, Hailee Steinfeld is great in this show, but as another recommendation, she's great in Bumblebee movie. The Transformers movies are hit and miss, but that movie in particular is great.

Just finished my re-watch. So, I remember watching WandaVision alongside the rest of the internet when it was being rolled out weekly. The amount--as well as the absurdity--of the theorizing was off the charts. However, I believe you have just ascended to a level of ridiculousness that tops pretty much every wild theory I have ever come across. Ever. I love it so much. My stomach hurts from laughing. The most amusing thing about it, though, is that I ACTUALLY understand how one might stretch themselves to that conclusion. I'm going to get a migraine if I don't stop laughing. OMG. Anyhow, this show definitely gets me in the feels. More so with each re-watch, even. The first half makes me tear up because of how much I care about these characters, the second half just steamrolls my heart.

The Amazing Webhead

Good reaction! This show is based on the 2010 Matt Fraction Hawkeye comic run with the same premise of Clint teaching Kate Bishop as the new Hawkeye. That comic introduces Kate, Pizza dog, & the tracksuit gang so it’s cool they’re being as close to the books here. If you notice, the credits background is the art work of that comic. Clint is a great character in the comics. He’s more cocky but awesome. I say the best interpretation of him is his portrayal in the animated series, Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes which is a amazing show & is a more faithful adaptation to the source material in terms of stories & the Avengers characters. Highly recommend it.

Joe Blankenship

I love Hailee Steinfeld. I can watch her in anything.

Richard

I like this for the nice, simple, plausible origin story. Inspired by a hero, wanted to be one. Clint trying to navigate being a mentor to someone of the opposite sex presents different challenges; but then again he mentored Wanda very effectively so he had some experience. Plus, hey, father of a teenage girl. The one thing I don't like, and never will (something that's only become "acceptable" recently) is men punching women in fight scenes. No no no no. I don't want to see that, that is something ugly that many real women have to endure. Fortunately it doesn't seem to affect Kate too much, I guess her training hardened her. I like this format, you can get through a series without having to drag it out and it's all fresh in your mind.

kaliwali

YES! The Last of Us flashback! That has to be where I remembered from and couldn't place it because it was such a small scene lol. Thank you for helping my horrible memory 🤣 I've picked up a few MCU comics but I'll def add this one to check out!

kaliwali

Valid points about punching but I feel like when it's in a fight scene and full on combat, it's different. And that's speaking from someone that would definitely feel certain emotions if it felt like too much. I love the three episodes now! Andor definitely changed the way I want to view shows haha. Sure it's an extra hour, but it just feels like movies which I've loved!

kaliwali

I looooove that this one is closer to the books with characters! Pizza dog makes me lol. And the Tracksuit gang is actually hilarious 🤣 I'm not sure how I would handle a more cocky Clint. I think I love him in this version! But I'd have to see the comics to really know for sure lol.

kaliwali

LOL I knew this theory was a wild one to put out there but I'm glad you could get some good laughs out of it 🤣🤣🤣 But now I'm nervous for the second half of this show this week. Can't wait to finish it!

kaliwali

Nick Furry BAHAHA I love it 🤣 I haven't' seen any Transformers films yet! Gotta add those to my eventual list!

kaliwali

Thank you so much for the proper pronunciation!! I had no idea, clearly lol. So I appreciate it and the extra awesome info! Interesting about the "Save the City" song as well! Very neat honestly. And P-Y-M LOL. Took me a second there, eh? Guess I gotta deep dive back into MCU again! Spent too much time away!

kaliwali

LOL I'm so sorry for this theory 🤣

kaliwali

honestly, how dare she 🤣

kaliwali

I didn't think about the subtitles that way but YES. I kinda hate that too.. I feel on/off about subtitles. Sometimes I like them when my brain is feeling a little slower lol. But mostly, I end up feeling disappointed I watched it that way for a few scenes. This is one of those times. Definitely loving this show tho! I can't wait to wrap it up this week!

kaliwali

I'm glad you gave it another shot!!

kaliwali

Let's gooo! Can't wait to finish this one this week!

kaliwali

Ahh, okay! That makes sense!

kaliwali

Totally valid and understandable!!

Joe Blankenship

She's really good in The Edge of Seventeen, with Woody Harrelson.

Phil Stubblefield

I'm sorry, Richard, but I cannot disagree with you more strongly about the issue of men vs. women in fight scenes. Perhaps it's because I'm a little guy who also had chronic health issues growing up, but I know a number of women (including my wife!) who could probably kick my a** in a tussle. (Not that I've ever been in such an altercation or ever plan to be...) Like you, I was raised with the rule "Never hit a girl", but our culture has changed substantially in the past 50 years, for good or for bad. If a woman with demonstrated physical skills has chosen to participate in a full-on fight scene, then I have no problem with her being treated as an equal. Note that this is *VERY* different from the types of situations to which you allude when referring to being punched as "something ugly that many real women have to endure." In those cases, I agree with you wholeheartedly and absolutely abhor violence against women! (Or children, or any unwilling victim for that matter!) 🚫 SPOILER ALERT: Another example occurs at the end of the Firefly episode Our Mrs. Reynolds when Mal knocks out Yo-Saff-Bridge. I've seen reactors wince at that single punch even though Saffron had previously drugged Mal, knocked out Wash (with a spinning back kick, no less!), and then left the entire crew of Serenity at the mercy of a bunch of scrappers who might very well have killed them all. So you can't punch a violent, murderous sociopath just because she has breasts? Sorry, I don't buy it.

pinkdino99

Bro... I've photographed my Hawkeye v4 covers in the hobby section of Discord if you want a look.

Giancarlo Gasparin

As someone who was born and raised in Miami, I didn’t need more reasons to dislike Josh Allen. She could’ve done better, imo. But that’s probably just the salty Dolphins fan in me talking lol.

Jonathan Spahn

I love the clock on your table 😍 I've never seen one like that. Maybe you'll tell us what it is? 🫠 Hawkeye is one of my favorites. I'm looking forward to the 2nd half with you 😉

FatLittleButterfly

the drawing of hawkeye costume in the diner is actually comic accurate lol

Al Paka

It's not Christmas, but I finally have time to watch it. Hawkeye is simply heartbreaking and funny at the same time ^^
