🎁 Day Eleven of the Yule-Twelve Festival 🍿I totally forgot to put this one on my schedule yesterday! I hope none of you panicked lol. I loved the extra Yondu lore sprinkled in this holiday special. Finding out that Peter is the reason Yondu started collecting all those dashboard doodads honestly melted my heart. It made their relationship feel even more layered, like this quiet unspoken love that was always there from the start. And the Mantis reveal! I really appreciate them branching into her connection with Peter more and what that means to her. It felt super meaningful without being too heavy. Just a gentle expansion on his found-family story! Drax and Mantis continue to be the best comedic gift! Their chemistry seriously never misses. I always find myself laughing uncontrollably when they are on the screen! I do wish we got a bit more Rocket (justice for our beloved trash panda lol), but for a holiday special this one totally worked in a cute, lore-rich way. And the Kevin Bacon cameo??? Completely random and ridiculous, but somehow it worked. I loved the little warm holiday hug from Marvel!Happy Holidays everyone! This concludes all of our holiday watches for the year & I absolutely loved every single one of them 🎁✨ Thank you for hanging out with me!Thank you for your support on Patreon!Relax and enjoy 🍿🌿SYNC ALONG LINK: https://youtu.be/aE_GHIDCsD8I watched this on Disney Plus

Definitely don’t search for anything on the new Avengers movie. New teaser was released today!

Richard

Oh this is going to be fuuuuuun. That Kratos line sent you :D. Remy is so extra in this vid haha I love it, so cute. Yes Kevin Bacon is a really good musician and he's done a ton of music parodies on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

kaliwali

Welp looks like I'm logging off for the day LOL

kaliwali

I loved it! Great christmas vibes haha

William

With respect to the Kevin Bacon of it all: in case you forgot, Kevin Bacon was mentioned by Peter in the first GotG film, and Mantis mentioned him again in Endgame. Him being included here, while a big surprise and a lovely treat, was also a pretty logical conclusion. ;)

kaliwali

I didn't forget! I know how much Peter absolutely loves him. I've never seen him in anything personally & I think all of the comments about his career went over my head lol. But it did feel full circle for Peter which I loved!

William

I wish you the best of luck in avoiding the rampant spoilers online concerning upcoming MCU stuff, because they're out there. I'm EXCELLENT at avoiding such things, and yet they've managed to find me somehow, so yeah...good luck. Happy Holidays! PS: Agent Carter was an AWESOME show. I wish there was more of that one.

Darian Harman

This film knocked Charlie Brown AND The Grinch off of the Christmas podium for me. It's #1, #2 and #3. Turns out all I want for Christmas is goofy aliens chasing Kevin Bacon.

Robert Foxx

Is anyone else really hoping that Doomsday just end the MCU? The sooner it dies the quicker it can comeback better.

Łukasz Jarczewski

Unfortunately, Marvel has painted itself into a corner. The return of RDJ and Chris Evans can be officially interpreted as: “We don't know what to do, the MCU is in a bad place right now, and we want to make a lot of money again. And what names will draw crowds to the cinema?” Personally, I don't like the idea of Downey Jr. coming back. And now the news about Evans. Ugh. I'm afraid that by bringing back old familiar actors, they want to distract us from the quality of upcoming productions. I'd like to be wrong, really. I hope that at least the next Avengers movie will be watchable. Although I have my doubts, considering that the actors came to the set and there was no script at all. Yikes!

Mister Lou

This was Mantis' story. And I love her scenes with Drax. Also this had an unexpected payoff to a joke in EndGame. Rocket: how much for the gun? Bucky: not for sale. Rocket: okay how much for the arm? -- Rocket: oh, I'll get that arm!

pinkdino99

The biggest lesson you can take from this is that Cosmo is a good girl ! Disney bought Marvel and after Phase 3 (End Game) launched Disney+. They asked Marvel to create as much content as possible for the new channel, quality be darned. This led to a glut of content that no longer had Kevin Feige’s meticulous attention to detail upon. Indeed if you got five minutes with Feige to discuss a project you could be considered fortunate. This has led to a series of flops in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and has also placed potential new fans into a quandary where in able for them to watch a new movie, they needed to have sat through hundreds of hours of content to understand what the heck everyone was talking about. It was akin to doing homework ! So the brakes have been firmly put on. All existing projects were finished, anything in pre-production had been halted. Marvel are now 100% focused on quality over quantity. There will be less projects, and those projects will have Feige’s undivided attention. In addition these projects will be more self contained which should encourage new viewers to jump on board. Oh... and we get X-Men.

pinkdino99

I disagree, I believe Doomsday is a finale to what was before in both the MCU and FOX's Marvel properties and the start of what is to come.

Lastboyscout73

I panicked when I didn't see it anywhere. Now I feel dumb, but I'm glad to see it was posted! Now I have something to watch on Christmas! Sorry Kali... Kali, since you asked, yes there is a teaser out there for Steve Rogers return in Avengers: Doomsday. I am extremely excited! I do hope you consider watching at least the 1st season of Jessica Jones, it has one of the best villains ever portrayed in Marvel live action. I decided I couldn't wait and watched it when I got home from work. I just love this Christmas special and I hope someday we do get another one. The first song that you heard is very catchy and you can find it on YouTube if you want to revisit it. Kevin Bacon actually has his own band, I don't remember what it's called but yeah, he can play and sing.

Onno Smits

Fun that they got Kevin Bacon for this! In that scene in his house he's watching the 1964 sci-fi film "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians". I've never seen it, but apparently it's very very bad, extremely cheesy.

Onno Smits

With regards to your Superhero Odyssey; Staying flexible and "chasing the wind" sounds like the way to go! Worst thing you can do is burn out on all the superhero stuff if you want to catch up by December 2026 (which is smart for good YouTube algorithm numbers). Exactly like you mentioned, a lot of the things are disconnected so you watching out of release order is not that critical. And we simply don't know what is, and isn't, going to be important for films still coming down the pipeline. My personal list of MCU projects I'm excited for you to still get to (at some point): - Moon Knight (show) - Werewolf by Night (special) - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (movie) - Agatha All Along (show) - Thunderbolts* (movie) For something grounded, completely not superhero nor sci-fi related: - Ted Lasso A short but sweet show (34 episodes). I've seen other reaction channels do it and getting good numbers with it as well.

Kahoetek

I recently discovered your YouTube channel and it's quickly become one of my favorites - so much so that you're also the first Patreon account I've supported. You're an absolute delight! I hope you, your husband, your daughter, and the cats have a fantastic Christmas and New Year!

Daniel Morgan

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years Kali!!!!

Joseph Olson

Another reference point for the next time you play "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" (it's a trivia game, if you've never heard of it). Also, the phone calls Kevin Bacon had on the special were with his real-life wife, Kyra Sedgwick. A good Kyra Sedgwick movie to add to your (I'm sure) already long list is "Phenomenon". She co-stars with John Travolta, along with Forest Whitaker and Robert Duvall. It's sappy, romantic and tragic, but the tragedy is uplifted with connection and community. Not a box office smash or an award winner, but I liked it. Finally, the song that plays during the beginning and end of the special is "Fairytale of New York" by The Pogues. A unique Christmas song for sure.

Chuckles1004

Totally agree, love the Drax and Mantis chemistry. Don't know how many Kevin Bacon movies you've seen, but KEVIN BACON! 🤣🤣🤣

Andy Jordan

So happy you loved this Special. Between Hawkeye and this (and Iron Man 3), Marvel's an exceptional job with Christmas material. They mentioned Footloose in particular because, in Infinity War, Quill calls it the greatest movie ever made. Footloose is a classic, and I hope you'll get around to it, although his best performance is probably Mystic River, in my opinion, but Apollo 13's a classic too. You've seen him a couple times so far: as Jack (Tom Cruise's opposing counsel) in A Few Good Men, and also in an uncredited cameo as the guy racing Steve Martin for the cab in Planes, Trains & Automobiles. And yes, he is a talented musician in real life: he has a band with his brother Michael called The Bacon Brothers, and they've been putting out albums since the '90s. Although, in my opinion, the most gifted guitarist primarily known as an actor is Jeff Daniels: he's not just a good guitarist, he's exceptionally talented, and if you haven't seen him play his song "When My Fingers Find Your Strings", do yourself the favor. Nebula giving Rocket Bucky's arm was more than just because Rocket likes prosthetic limbs. Also in Infinity War, Rocket tried to get the arm from Bucky, and Bucky said "It's not for sale", and then left. As he left, Rocket said: "Oh, I'll get that arm." Your mentioning how literal Drax is reminded me of when the original GotG came out, and I heard a lot of autistic kids were so happy that there was a superhero like them, a literal-minded hero they could understand. Being on the Spectrum myself (I was diagnosed very early in the late '80s), I remember wishing I'd had someone like that to identify with then, but how happy I am that autistic kids have that today. I'm better with metaphor now, with a lot of work and patience, but it's still the way my brain naturally operates, and I still have to make effort to integrate metaphorical thinking, too. So, I'm glad you mentioned that about him, because it reminded me of how nice it is to have perceptions like that have a voice in our narrative media. I hope you and yours are having a great holiday season so far, as well as everyone else here, and I'm looking forward to see what the final 12th Day brings. Cheers!

David L

That was the best MCU Movie/special I've seen since Endgame. I checked out after Wandavision and the Captain America/Falcon show. Thanks for reacting to it, Kali! Merry Christmas! 🎄☃️🎄

Joe

What a lovely reaction. As usual, the use of music in the Guardians movies was great but was fun to have a real band this time. That was the Old 97s that was dressed as an alien band. Plus, really liked the Smashing Pumpkins song they used when they surprised Peter with the lights at the end. Really appreciated your thoughts on the MCU at the end. I think it is great you are listening to us on things like order but also you are making up your own mind. I do think it becomes more inconsistent after Endgame, but there is still lots of really good stuff (both shows and movies) for you to get to ahead. I really like the last two movies they released, so I hope it is a sign of things to come. Plus there are still other great roads to go down like X-Men and Daredevil (I got very excited at your possible Jessica Jones mention, as the first season is one of the best seasons of a superhero show.)

Onno Smits

What is your favourite Kevin Bacon movie? Mine has got to be Apollo 13 (1995).

James Park

Another great reaction, if you want to add a great Kevin Bacon movie to your list Tremors 1990 is awesome, happy birthday for tomorrow and merry Christmas

Lastboyscout73

I know Kali would for sure love Ted Lasso, it is one of the most amazing shows out there, imo of course, I wanted to suggest it to her but she has so much on her plate already.

Wil Castillo

This was a good watch. I've never seen this before. You might as well add Footloose (1984) to your watch list. Some other good movies with Kevin Bacon that I would recommend are: - Apollo 13 (1995) - Tremors (1990) - The River Wild (1994) - Cop Car (2015) - Crazy Stupid Love (2011) - Beauty Shop (2005) - Patriots Day (2017) - Taking Chance (2009)

Chuckles1004

Apollo 13 is great but my favorite is Tremors. 🤣🤣 Also, my favorite X-men movie, X-men First Class. Of Course, a Few Good Men.

Fred Aczon

Yea Kevin Bacon sings and has a band with his brother called........wait for it........The Bacon Brothers.

Paul Carroll

hi happy holidays thanks for doing guardian of galaxy christmas special you should do the Harry Potter christmas special they returned too hogswort castle for a christmas special its great!

rubberkidney

turn the ac on for christmas

M1 Maz

This was the perfect Christmas vibey special to watch! In the most Guardians way possible - so funny and wholesome at the same time. I really wasn't expecting so many little lore drops sprinkled in and I loved that! I also love how well your superhero journey worked out that you got to watch both Hawkeye and this during December! That's why I'd never stress over your path through all these movies and series, and all the little side journeys you go on along the way. This odyssey is uniquely yours and everything has been working out perfectly for you!

Morah-SDG

I never actually saw this, because I also hadnt picked up a lot of MCU post endgame, and I thought this was so wholesome and fun and great! Actually really liked the songs!

Jose Morales

I loved this special so much. I have watched it at least once each year since it came out. All of the lore was great. I also agree with you about there not being enough Rocket. He's my favorite Guardian, and possibly only second to Iron Man in the entire MCU.

Quote #11 of 12 - “Sooner or later, though, no matter where in the world we live, we must join the diaspora, venturing beyond our biological family to find our logical one, the one that actually makes sense for us. We have to, if we are to live without squandering our lives.” - Armistead Maupin

Heidi Elizabeth Marcum

This is a fun Marvel short. I am not as big a fan of the Guardians of the Galaxy as most Marvel fans, but this is definitely fun. So, thank you for watching and posting this for us, Kali! :) Sincerely, Heidi

I always thought Kevin Bacon was such a good sport, agreeing to appear in this feature and play himself, especially with all the strays he catches from Mantis and Drax. Really funny stuff. I haven't seen a ton of Kevin Bacon stuff, but there is one work of his that I saw and really liked; a TV show called The Following, from 2013. Kevin Bacon plays an FBI agent who is hunting a serial killer obsessed with Edgar Alan Poe. I was told about it by a friend because I'm a big Poe fan, and it didn't disappoint. If I recall correctly, it ran for 3 seasons.

LeSteeler

This was a fun Christmas Special, once again shoutout James Gunn who is doing great things as co-CEO of DC Studios now. The post Avengers Endgame fall off is not because most of the things aren't as connected, I actually like stories that can stand on its own...it's just that a lot of them are bad-mid...Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is by far the best project post the Avengers Endgame because that film is even better than Avengers Endgame. I also feel barely any excitement for the upcoming Avengers movies because it them bringing RDJ back as another character and Chris Evans as Steve feels like a desperate attempt for nostalgia. It doesn't feel like they earned this Avengers movie like the past ones did. Doom played by someone else would have me much more interested, RDJ coulda came back as Stark which woulda been better but still a nostalgia play after a perfect ending maybe, and I love RDJ. Also ScarJo is not coming back as Black Widow as she has moved on to bigger, better, and more challenging things like Matt Reeves' The Batman Part II starring Robert Pattinson that she just got cast in. I am ready for the Marvel reboot ngl. Some actors and characters will stay for the reboot in the MCU after the Secret Wars. They better do the X-Men justice too...💪🏾

eladrin22

I highly recommend Jessica Jones.... and I'll always say it. I love agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. I know there are quite a few seasons and they are long, but even if you just get a chance to watch the first one.

Robert da Spruce

Just wanted to wish you Happy Birthday Kali! 🎁🎉🎂 Hope you have a wonderful day and a very Merry Christmas! 🎄❄️☃️

kaliwali

Thank you so much Robert! Merry Christmas! 🎄❤️

kaliwali

Thank you so much!! I'm glad you've been loving it here and wanted to join the community! ❤️🎄 Merry Christmas!

David Fürstenberg

I hope I'm not too late for you to see this, but I just wanted to say a quick thank you for your Marvel reactions. I don't have many friends who are as big a Marvel fan as I am, and I love it every time someone discovers Marvel for themselves. I'm also looking forward to your reaction to Daredevil. Although I think you should watch the entire Defenders saga and not just Daredevil, and maybe Jessica Jones or something at some point. And I would also highly recommend the series Agents of SHIELD. But ultimately, I love your reactions, keep them up, and happy holidays from Germany.

Joe Blankenship

Daredevil will be a good change of pace for you. He's a street level crime-fighter. No aliens and wizards and robots.

Daniel Morgan

Watching this on Christmas night 1 hour before Stranger Things Vol 2 releases. 🥰🥰 What a night. Also, honestly, I'm personally perfectly okay if you don't follow the superhero Odyssey. 😎😎 Cause ik it's alot to catch up on.

Joe Blankenship

The robot Drax beats up is a GoBot. They were like knock-off Transformers back in the day. Mantis said a GoBot killed Drax's cousin, so I guess they exist in the universe somewhere.

kaliwali

Nooooo. I know that the MCU has gone a bit downhill since Endgame but honestly I've found a lot that I still enjoy & wish they would continue on. I wouldn't mind a mini reset button for some storylines, but overall death of the MCU idk how to feel about that.

kaliwali

I need to see Transformers sometime!

kaliwali

glad for some reassurance on the Superhero Odyssey! I think the way I've been doing things has been working out really nicely so far so I'll probably keep doing that!

kaliwali

Never too late to post here! And that's awesome! I'm glad you've been loving following my MCU reactions here as I finally sit to watch all of them. It's honestly been one of my favorite storylines over the past year & I can't believe there is still plenty to see! I'd loveeeee to watch Jessica Jones and Agents of SHIELD! It'll most likely be a bit 'out of order' but I will definitely be watching them eventually, so I hope that's okay! I still need to circle back for some of the What Ifs and Agent Carter series which I'm looking forward to as well. Thanks so much for being here tho! I'm glad you're loving it!

kaliwali

I definitely can't wait to watch those eventually!

kaliwali

I'm really excited to finally get to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 and the next Doctor Strange (Multiverse of something?) soonish! Those are the movies I'm mostly looking forward to in this Phase. I don't mind the standalone films either, but I guess yeah some of them are mid and just kind of pumped out for the sake of it.. I'm excited to see where the next projects go and hopefully it can help revive some of the MCU a bit! It's sad to keep seeing so much shade thrown at it after Endgame because I've seen project that I still very much enjoy. But I get that not all of them hit.

kaliwali

Apparently I need to see more Kevin Bacon! This was my first intro to him which is kinda funny, but he did seem like a good sport being thrown all the shade from Mantis LOL And that show honestly sounds great! Maybe I should check it out sometime even if on my own!

Daniel Morgan

I kinda mostly agree. 😅 I'm just scared for the shows mostly though. Like, if there are loads of episodes (i.e. Daredevil, Luke Cage, The Punisher, The Defenders, etc. but Daredevil is the best ones though.)

Robert Foxx

The problem is we need the good characters back not all these bottom of the barrel ones that. MCU used to get how good these characters where and like Cap, Thor and Ironman. Its like having DC without Batman and superman it just doesnt work. They would need a complete reset at this point.

pinkdino99

You could always just eat a ton of ice cream until you get a headache. Its the same thing.

pinkdino99

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. gets better and better through the first four seasons, the fourth being one of the best TV series ever made. Jessica Jones season one is the same.

William

FWIW, GoBots predated the Transformers by about a year. ;)

Joe Blankenship

Yeah, they had changing robots in Japan before Transformers got big here.

BloodSwine

im glab i can always come bace to this
