Hey everyone!I hope your January has had some soft mornings & just enough magic to make the cold feel at least kind of nice 🤣 I'm excited for this week's fun mix of superpowers, adrenaline, and intense mystery. Here's what I'm watching this week: 🦸🏻 Superman III'm still a bit torn on what version to watch with this one. Part of me wants to experience the original theatrical cut because that's how everyone else had their first experience. But I've also seen a lot of passionate love for Richard Donner's Cut. Honestly, both arguments are very tempting! My current plan is to start with the theatrical version and circle back to the Donner Cut another time so I can compare and properly nerd out. But I could always change my mind at the last minute knowing me... lol👾 Ready Player OneThis one has been highly recommended most likely because I'm a gamer! But what made me bump it up on the recommended list this week was realizing this is a Steven Spielberg film!? I'm not sure what to expect, but if it blends gaming and Spielberg's magic I'm already into it!🦑 Squid Game | Season 1 Episodes 4-6I'm hooked, guys. I'm surprising myself with how much I enjoy this show so far lol. The intensity, mystery, and incredible acting has me so ready to watch more! I'm glad some of you decided to give it a chance with me for the first time as well and are now just as hooked as I am 🤣💌 January Vlog (Q&A, Unboxings, Life Lately)We'll be hanging out this week as I unbox some PO box goodies, answer your question from the Q&A and give you some updates on life, watches & future plans!📌 Sync Along to Unedited Version UpdateI'm currently moving through the list of MOST WATCHED reactions on Patreon and converting them over to Unedited formats that way for now. This process takes such a long time because I have to re-record the movie in a lot of cases and re-edit it into the YouTube format. Right now, I'm working on bringing you all the unedited format for these movies: Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War, The Matrix Trilogy. The Lord of the Rings trilogy is up & in the unedited format now! I did also see a request for Firefly to be next on my list so I'll see if I can work on that soon as well. Thanks for your patience while I get these versions uploaded!I hope your January has been gentle, cozy, and not too heavy. I know for me personally this time of year can drag a bit, especially as we hit the later parts of winter. Grab a cup of something warm & let's escape into some stories together this week!🤍

I 2nd your plans for Superman II. The Donner Cut is an interesting watch.. but more from a fan perspective.. some scenes pieced together from non-mastered, alternate footage. I would still watch it though.. whether on or off the channel.

Dawson Brownell

After you watch the movie I would highly reccomend the book for ready player one. Its a book that I still go back to once in a while

KJ

The order you've chosen to experience Superman II is the correct order imo. I honestly think if you watched the unofficial Donner cut first it'll leave you feeling deflated. Donner cut = "OK, that would have been interesting... " vs theatrical cut = "that was really fun and enjoyable!" I've always meant to watch Ready Player One but never got around to it. It's a love letter to certain genres and pop culture eras too 🥰

Kieran Byrne

Nice, Ready Player One is alot of fun

Andy Jordan

The Donner Cut would've been better than the theatrical cut had Richard Donner been able to complete it. But unfortunately, it's left to be a historical curio. And it's actually a better watch after seeing the theatrical because you have better narrative context for what it was going to be. On its own, a blind first time watch can be a bit uneven and confusing.

The Dingo

Regarding Ready Player One: if you really want a 1980's culture experience please read the book. Not only is the book stronger than the movie (as is normally the case) the book has a completely different vibe. Def watch the movie before reading the book because (at least for me) the movie pales so much in comparison. And this is true even though the movie is good.

kaliwali

Thank you for the input! It helps a lot!!

kaliwali

Ahh, awesome! Another book I can add to my list!

kaliwali

I was thinking that too.. And I heard what you're mentioning about the endings A LOT. So I feel like theatrical then Donner Cut makes more sense as well! I'm excited it'll be your first time watching Ready Player One as well! I hope we enjoy it!

kaliwali

Ahh I see! I keep hearing that it would have been a fun movie to branch on, but unfortunately never did.. I'm glad you agree about watching theatrical then donner! I feel like that's most likely the way I'll go..

Richard

Oh wow Superman II, my favorite Superman movie of them all! Oh no, the Q&A is this week already . . .

kaliwali

Ahh interesting!! I'm excited to add another book on my list to read after watching tho!

Łukasz Jarczewski

Well, just because it's a Spielberg film doesn't mean it's going to be good. On the contrary, it's probably the worst film of his career. But hey, have fun. I didn't like it at all, and I love playing games. But Superman 2? I'd love to see your reaction.

Sky Quest Music Official

Dude I've been so curious and have been wanting to watch Ready Player One!!! I can't wait for that one!!

M1 Maz

Omg Ready Player One! That was one of the rare movies that I was able to drag my sister out to the theater to watch with me LOL. So really looking forward to checking that one out with you!

Terry In the UK

Wow, that is an amazing line up..... personally I am so excited for the q+a... never had the privilege to be a part of Patreon on past ones, so this'll be my first and I'm already pumped for it.. xx

KJ

Book Club pick?

Joe Baines

The Donner cut is awful 👎🏻 stick to the theatrical version 👌🏻

SpiffMan

Agreed, the book has so much more than the movie. Very much like the Harry Potter books, not everything can be kept in when adapted for the screen. Fantastic book, definitely don't overlook it!

Richard

I'm overnighting something, hopefully will arrive before you record 😁

Bruce Steve

Everyone so far seems to be on the same page about the Donner cut. It may have the better story but the film is pieced together of unmastered scenes and therefore feels disjointed. It’s not like a traditional “director’s cut” that you might be used to or thinking of. The theatrical version on the other hand is a finished product and feels complete.

Daniel King

I would watch the theatrical version then the Richard donner cut. Just to benefit the difference

Jose Morales

Unedited versions of Infinity War and Endgame? Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.

Dave Olden

Ready Player One! Yes! Not only a Steven Spielberg film, but since John Williams was already committed to The Post, scoring duties went to Alan Silvestri (music for the Back to the Future trilogy, The Avengers, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame … etc).

David L

Great picks again this week, Kali! I can't wait! Have a wonderful day! 🙂

Ready Player One is heavy on nostalgia from the 80's... I know you'll catch several of the references but I can recommend some movie trailers to watch so you can get the most out of the movie, it might be considered minor spoilers but at the same time if you don't know what their referencing, you won't get it anyways... Let me know if you want to watch the movie trailers... it's only a few of them..

McShades

I would probably wait a bit before you read the book, because it's so heavy on pop culture, the more movies you see especially from the 80's and early 90's the more you'll enjoy the book IMO...

Antonio

Can’t wait to see you react to ready player one and Superman 2 💙💛❤️ R.I.P. Christopher Reeve

Al Higginbotham

Looks great! Here’s a small list of underrated suggestions… Warrior (incredible performances, probably an entire box of tissues. Warning it has heavy parental issues but inspiring ending) Wind River (tough watch but really good, tissues needed) Stardust (fantasy/love story, great cast) Master and commander (didn’t do great in the box office because it’s not pirates of the Caribbean but beautifully shot, scored and acted) Cinderella man (true story, great cast, great performances, tears of joy) Sorry if you’ve already seen some of these…

James Park

Awesome line up, you're knocking it out of the park

Michael Tuffin

For sups do the theatrical and watch the donner cut on your own. Everyone is split on which is better. The donner cut does bring an emotion scene I won’t spoil

kaliwali

Thank you for the suggestions!!

Angel

Ready player one! One of my favorites. Hope you enjoy the movie 🎬

Black_TYGR

Superman II and Ready Player One. Chef’s kiss. Great line up this week!

James Park

I was just about to rewatch you matrix reactions on YouTube i think I'll wait now

Kanus

Hi Kali! I'm not sure where to make this request, but since this is the most recent thread I'm thinking you may read it and then direct me where to put in a request. I would like you to consider watching Chuck, the series. It is lighthearted, but a favorite of many "nerds", including me. It is also a bit dated, but if you are okay with s1e1, you will be good on the dated part throughout. Just a suggestion to consider. The AI generated synopsis: “Chuck” is a light‑hearted action‑comedy series about an ordinary guy who accidentally becomes the U.S. government’s most valuable spy after a top‑secret database is downloaded into his brain. It blends humor, romance, and espionage, making it a fun, fast‑paced watch.

Black_TYGR

from my prior experience…Kali handles everyone’s blessings and gifts with grace. I can’t wait to see everyone at the event and seeing the big reveals with folks merch and gifts this round! lookin fwd to swimming in all of our love and oxytocin during the Jan 2026 Q&A event.🤍

McShades

I know right... lol
