Up until now, Daredevil has felt so grounded. Human. Raw. Just Matt, his senses, a few broken bones and fatigue after fighting a night of crime in the city always drowning in it. But then Episode 7 just casually drops things like Black Sky, a child who somehow is not really a child? And suddenly we're hearing about wars, gates opening, and secret forces moving in the night. For a moment I honestly forgot this was a part of the MCU timeline. It has all been so raw and street-level. But then episode 7 snapped everything right back into place for me. Oh right, this is Marvel. And things are about to get wild. Now I'm sitting here asking a million questions all over again. Who is Matt being trained to become? Stick didn't just teach him how to fight. He was shaping him for something so much larger. Something we clearly don't understand yet, and neither does Matt. But man, Stick is honestly really hard to like...Kid Matt is so heartbreaking to look back on. He's just a boy who blames himself for losing his father. His mother is this giant unanswered question that no one will talk about. And on top of that grief he suddenly has these overwhelming abilities that he doesn't understand. That must have been absolute chaos inside his mind for so long. Then Stick enters his life with nothing but harsh discipline and tough love. Teaching him that attachment is weakness and that love will only make him vulnerable and fail. The moment Matt does what any kid would do and shows Stick some compassion; he just leaves him. For twenty years. Just gone. It's painful to watch because you can just feel how much that abandonment shaped Matt. Yet, part of me wonders if Stick believed he had no other choice. If he truly thinks he is preparing Matt for something so massive, so dangerous, that emotional attachment could destroy him... I guess I can't blame him fully. Then there is always this fascinating thread the show keeps throwing in our face: The comparison between Matt and Fisk.People keep saying Matt will eventually kill, he'll cross that line, why hasn't he already. That the man hunting monsters will one day become one himself. The show keeps putting Matt and Fisk on this eerie parallel path. Two men who both believe that they are trying to save Hell's Kitchen in their own way.Fisk truly seems to believe he is building a better city. A cleaner one. But all I see is drugs, crime, and trafficking. Darkness. And that's what makes him so terrifying. Villains who think they're heroes always are. Right now it feels like we're standing at the edge of something huge. Black Sky. A coming war. Gates opening. Matt being prepared for a purpose he doesn't even know about yet.I can't wait to see more of this mystery! I need to know why all of this is happening.
