This show completely stole my heart 😻The acting was absolutely INCREDIBLE. These last two episodes made me realize just how much emotion every single one of them is capable of showing through the screen. Someone on YouTube mentioned the actors were so great because they truly believe in the One Piece story. And that makes so much sense... They are the crew. They are pirates through and through. They sell the story and feelings behind One Piece so well, because they all wear straw hats IRL and it shows 😅After really learning about Nami.. finally. It absolutely broke me. The pain she has been carrying for so long, the choices she was forced to make, the loneliness of it all for years. It was SO heavy to finally understand the sacrifices she has made. No wonder why she doesn't 'need' anyone's help. Why she pushes others away so quickly. Why she looks like she is always somewhere far off in the distance, even if she wants to love the crew. Something dark always slipped back into her voice and her eyes. Aarlong was so frustrating... but in a way that felt very intentional. The way he talks about oppression, the way he carries this deep anger from what his people have gone through. And yet, what he built in Coco Village mirrors the very thing he claims to hate. Control. Fear. Power over others just because. He never broke the cycle, he became it. And watching that made me feel this mix of extreme anger and sadness, because you can see where it comes from but that doesn't make what he's doing any less cruel. The moment Nami finally lets it all out. When she finally screams out her frustrations, pain, hatred. WOW.But Luffy.. without hesitation, without questions, without even really understanding what she is going through 😅 He places his hat on her head and something inside me shifted right there. It was so much more than a gesture, it was a true promise. And it wasn't about being the strongest, or the loudest, or the most fearless. It was just about showing up for those you care about. Without question. Without any doubts. And in that moment, you see exactly what kind of Captain Luffy is. It made me feel this overwhelming swell of emotions that I can't even fully explain in words. Just pure love, admiration, belonging.Like I was watching a crew I wished so badly I could be a part of.Watching all of them come together for Nami, standing beside her, fighting with her instead of letting her fight alone. It was so powerful! So earned, so human. And the best part? THE ENDING.It doesn't feel like an ending at all, just another beginning.A bunch of kids with dreams, living them to the fullest ✨Next week I'll be starting the anime and I can't even tell you all how excited I am. It feels like we're opening a much bigger door into this world, and I think it's going to be awesome having One Piece as a constant on the lineup for literal years to come. Something we get to come back to, week after week, reminding us to live our best lives and be the best version of ourselves 🔥 * places leg up on a barrel *I’m going to chase every story that sets my heart on fire and build a space where we can share exciting adventures, dream big and hang out together!Thank you for your support on Patreon!Relax and enjoy 🍿🌿SYNC ALONG LINK: https://youtu.be/fzt7sZB8zegI watched this on Netflix

Damn! I’m falling behind! I still haven’t watched any of the latest Demon Slayers yet 😭 Hopefully I’ll get a chance to catch up this weekend

Ej Evangelista

this is gonna be a fun journey! glad to be here with you and everyone else Welcome aboard!

rubberkidney

Man, you dropped the reaction I was thirsty for yesterday, so now I just feel hollow and empty. Whether you dangle it out until the end of the week or give it to me hot and fresh early, theres just no winning. lol.

Clearly one of the strengths of this show is sincerity, not just in the characters but in the story itself. So many other anime adaptations seem too insecure or ashamed about the source material to embrace the aspects of these stories that make them what they are, but the cast and crew of One Piece knows exactly what it is and they're not afraid to show it. That same sincerity is present in the new season, so I'm sure you'll love that too, when you get to it. In the meantime, have fun with the anime. Its a bit more dialed up than the Live Action, though now you probably know what to expect at least. This season covers roughly the first 45 episodes of the anime, so you can pick up season 2 after that, if you'd like.

pedro I.S

People have alredy said this but i dont think it really makes sense to start the anime between season 1 and 2 of the live action. Even more so in the content creation part since season 2 has just came out and this is the time everyone is watching reactions to it

PG Modehouse

I loved the alcohol metaphor between Garp and Zeff: Zeff mentions wine as a stand in for the ephemerality of youth and how it's their time to shine. "Leave it too long, and it'll go bad." Garp's response is "Or you can just serve whiskey." Which gets better with age.

pedro I.S

Also you said that other people did this but that was only people who watched it when there was only 1 season out

Terry In the UK

I have loved every second of this season, but I am quite literally wishing the hours away until I can begin watching the animated show with you. This has already become a spectacular adventure, and with my new found love of Animé, I am so hyped for the journey ahead of us. Thanks Kali, this is the reason that John Logie Baird invented the television.

Ej Evangelista

There are other reactors that did do it that way. Daeshas Always Watching and Haylo and Kiss (and some others). Although for Haylo and Kiss they fell in love with the anime after the first 45 episodes and just kept going and now are on 715. I get it man, you and other people want her to start on Season 2 now but she wants to do it this way. 45-90 episodes really isn’t that long though . although I guess it depends on how many episodes per week she will do (most OP reactors typically do 6 to 7 episodes a week)

Excited for you to start the anime! The world building goes DEEP, and stacks upon itself for a rewarding slow burn where the pay offs are like nothing else. There's this thing that Oda does on the cover pages of his chapters, where there's a single frame showing what a character we've met before is currently doing. And looking at these cover page stories in succession, they have their own separate narrative than that of the chapter. The world progresses independently of our Strawhats, and something happening on the other side of the ocean can have far reaching consequences for the world and for our crew. One thing to know is that there are sometimes very heavy spoilers in the Opening intros, and in the episode titles. So up to a specific episode in a particular story arc, we may ask that you look away from the episode title screen or skip watching a particular intro song, until it's safe.

PG Modehouse

I dont really care either way but "45-90 episodes really isn't that long" is so beyond funny to me.

pedro I.S

That is not the point at all

kaliwali

When I'm caught up with the anime!! I'm so excited to jump in when I am!

kaliwali

Wow I really appreciate this, thank you!

Ej Evangelista

Yeah I know it sounds wild. I think I’ve been watching way too many OP anime reactions that even 1000 episodes doesn’t sound crazy to me anymore LOL

Jose Luis Membreno

Happy that your starting the anime cause you going to have a good time

Luii

Id recommend OnePace, which is a project thats done by fans to help with the pacing that the anime suffers from. It’s a little bit more intricate to setup, but worth it in my opinion unless it’s your goal to watch all the episodes . <3

Fred Aczon

Emily Rudd was a One Piece fan before she was cast as Nami, and she absolutely killed that scene. I'm glad that you're checking out the anime, and will have no doubt you'll enjoy it. Since the anime started over 20 years ago, the common practice for anime with an ongoing manga at the time is to deliberately slow down the pace and stall certain moments, and also add a lot of filler elements that are not part of the manga. They do this so that the animation doesn't catch up with the manga, and allow the manga to be further ahead in the story. So as a warning, the early anime is chock filled with Filler episodes, so you might need an episode listing to filter out episodes not essential to the main story.

Space Crow

anime reactions woooot! Welcome to the wonderful world of one piece!!!! ps- she pulled a luffy and called buggy bonkey 🤣🤣🤣

PG Modehouse

Re: Fillers in a show that has had a weekly run... One Piece actually has a relatively low amount of filler story arcs compared to other titles from that era, like Bleach, Naruto, and it's predecessor Dragon Ball Z. I may have a rare opinion, but for my two cents, I enjoy the anime-only canon and filler episodes just as much as the ones that are manga canon. Filler episodes have some of the sweetest, most wholesome crew moments, and sometimes some of the most iconic and funniest shenanigans from our Strawhats. They add flavor and seasoning to the meat and potatoes of the main story. Plus the Japanese VAs really get to play around and have fun, and you can tell they're having a good time. Moments like those are meaningful to me, even if they don't always move the plot forward. Unlike most battle shonen anime, this is an absurdist comic fantasy, a character driven adventure, and some of my favorite moments are when our crew are just hanging out on the ship and goofing around. Even in the filler story arcs, all of our Strawhats remain true to their characters and personalities, so it's always a joy. Once the story eventually hits the gas pedal, moments like those are rarer and rarer, and you start to miss them. I, for one, would love it if you just watched everything, rather than cutting out episodes as many will recommend to you, especially since this is going to be a long term journey for the channel. I think it would be unfortunate if you missed out on those lovely little crew moments. But that's just me. I'm still here for the journey if you choose not to watch the filler.

Josh B.

Do you think you can do the dub this time I heard its actually pretty good and that Oda had some involvement in choosing the voice actors too, also do ya know when you will start the X-Men movies its been awhile since you mentioned them lol

Tom

I'd highly recommend just watching S2 first then going to anime.

Joosh

Back when you watched LOTR, I thought you would really dig One Piece. But figured it would never happen because you didn’t watch anime…and because it’s so long. So wild to see this all come about! Cannot wait for you to start the anime! You are gonna have a blast!

Kal

I'm really looking forward to watching the anime. I always found it a daunting task because of the sheer number of episodes, but watching them along with someone else's reaction and being able to discuss it with the other patreons feels like the perfect pacing and best way to enjoy it.

Shea

I'm going to side with a few others here and hope you watch season 2 first. Everything in season 2 got better than the 1st - writing, acting, side characters, etc.

Jose Morales

I'm glad you fell in love with this show. I love this show so much. I have a backlog of shows I gotta catch up, but when season 2 dropped I binged it before the other shows. Nami shows how strong and resilient she is by living the way she did. Not getting close to people, taking the brunt of criticism from those who knew her, and playing the long game with Arlong, but not for revenge, but to buy the freedom of her home and the people there. When she realized it was just as strong for her to ask Luffy for help, and not only did he hesitate to help her, but entrusted her with his most prized possession, I feel she knew she could trust him and she then became an official crew member and friend. Also, that cast-off ceremony with them showing their flashbacks of their dreams never fails to make me smile and feel emotional. The song at the end of the finale credits and the musical version playing during the Nami scenes is called My Sails Are Set and is so good. I found a random compilation video with the song that I feels captures the feeling. https://youtu.be/uhImyUNT9ZI?si=ZMmcAOL2nYHiRhBX

Kinetic NRG

NGL season 2 before anime is the move, but it's your life Kali ill back the choices, please ENG DUB over SUB tho.. i dunno if your debating or polling or whatever, but certain animes suit japanese [ naruto / demon slayer ] and some suit english better [ DBZ / one piece / pokemon ]

Kinetic NRG

also glad you love the show, its truly epic im so happy i took a chance and watched this way back when, unreal show / story

Ej Evangelista

if you are still debating on whether to watch the anime in sub or dub you could always watch the first two episodes, one in sub and one in dub and you decide from there personally, in my opinion, it sounds A LOT better in sub (sorry for sounding like a broken record lol). EDIT: Not sure if I am allowed to post youtube links here so I apologize in advance This is a very short clip (26 seconds) showing Luffys english voice to his subbed voice. One Piece: Luffy's voice in Japanese and English (NO SPOILERS): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCv2ghnx6Yg

ColossusIX

Ohh Starting the anime is so nice. Id be reccomending the sub version because while the dub is decent you just wont get the same emotional gutpunch like the sub will during scenes like the "Luffy help me" one in Arlong park. So happy you enjoy the series that much and dont let ypourself get pushed into watching stuff like one pace if you love the story as much as you do you will cherish every moment and interaction of the crew no matter how small.

DreadPirateRob

McKinley Belcher, the actor who played Arlong did such a bang up job! He has to be one of the best villains so far, his acting was so good.

Paul Walker

I better not see some clown trying to say AI wrote that summary. Happy you enjoyed the season and I'll be here waiting until the release of season 4 for you to catch up with season 2.

Malcolm Ferguson

One thing that's cool looking back after finishing the season is that you can kinda see how Garp was protecting Luffy from the beginning: He arrested Axe-Hand Morgan and recruited all of his Cadets so their story of Luffy wouldn’t spread throughout the Navy. He refused to contact other Navy branches for help capturing Luffy, and instead sent Mihawk to capture him under the radar and bring him back to him. And of course, he refused to let Nezumi go after the Straw Hats at Arlong Park, and took over the operation and fought Luffy himself. Of course, now all of that is going to end – now that Luffy has a bounty on him, Garp can no longer use his influence to protect him. When he told Luffy “You’re on your own now”, I think he was warning Luffy that other Marines will be coming after him now, and they will have no reason to show the same mercy that Garp did. I also think his talks with Koby & Zeff, as well as being reminded of Gold Roger after seeing Luffy’s sheer determination even after being destroyed in that fight, finally gave Garp the perspective he needed to let Luffy go.

ChristianM

Can't wait to watch your One Piece anime reaction!

Markus X.

Its gonna be great to see your reaction to the anime 😊 For information Season 1 of the LA covers Episodes 1 to 45 and Season 2 Episodes 46 to 90 😉

Dufore

This show is such a love letter to the anime. It feels like the genuine article and not some knock off or money grab. I'm really proud of what they made and can feel the passion the actors and directors have for the source material. Can't wait for you to watch the anime, I'll be tuning in every week!

James Park

I shouldn't laugh but your reaction to Arlong's teeth was hilarious

kaliwali

LOL I have nightmares of teeth falling out and this just... made my stomach turn 😅

kaliwali

You can post links here! Thank you for sharing!

kaliwali

Ahh that's awesome! Yeah I never saw myself loving anime THIS MUCH but I can't help but really fall into it lately 🩷 Def following my heart down this anime path lol

kaliwali

Yeah as a first time viewer, I won't be doing One Pace or skipping any episodes just because they're fillers. I'm here for the lore, the love and the journey ✨

Nomyrose

Loved your reactions to this show but I'm a little confused as to when exactly you will be getting to season 2, are you watching/reacting to just the episodes of the anime up til the end of season 2 LA or are you doing the WHOLE anime version and THEN going back to season 2? If the latter than does that mean we won't get your reaction to season 2 of the LA version for YEARS?? I hope not but I also know I would probably be in the minority there. Also I don't want you to feel pressured by me or what I've said one way or the other, just asking for clarification so I know what to expect, I respect whatever you decide to do of course.

Ej Evangelista

Im fairly certain she said that she wants to watch the anime and then revisit Season 2 of OPLA when she catches up to that point in the anime (correct me if i'm wrong though please). EDIT: ok yeah just had to make sure lol, from her other post: "I'm not skipping it :) When I catch up to that point in the anime, I'll jump back into Season 2 which honestly should be this year"

Nomyrose

Ok cool, thank you for the response!! Glad it won't be too long before we get season 2.

Robert da Spruce

Great episode to cap off the season! Loved that they gave Nami’s backstory! Zoro and Sanji’s relationship reminds me of Legolas and Gimli 😄 And Usopp seeing himself on the wanted poster reminds me of Mike Wazoski in Monsters Inc. Can’t wait for the Anime adventure to begin!

Christian F

I'm sure your mods are already on this, but it's okay to watch season 2 now. You are now passed the story in the anime That season 2 of the live action adapts. And my goodness is it good, a lot better than the first season.
