Jessica Jones continues to impress me. She is not written like a shiny hero. She has jagged edges, exhaustion, sarcasm for armor, and a pain that I can very closely relate to somehow. But she keeps moving. Keeps choosing to protect people even when she can barely protect herself. There is something honorable about a person who saves others while still bleeding.Kilgrave remains one of the most unsettling villains I've ever seen. He enters that sacred space where choice is supposed to live and he turns it into a prison. Every room he enters turns colder. Every conversation he has feels poisoned. But what makes him the most terrifying is that the still sees himself as misunderstood instead of monstrous. Victim instead of executioner. This show doesn't feel interested in easy victories. I respect that.It is asking us what survival looks. What healing looks like when rage lives on.What strength looks like when it's exhausted.I noticed in these episodes how similar Matt Murdock and Jessica are. On the surface, completely different people. But they both carry the same impossible question: Do you become the thing that you hate in order to stop it? Neither of them wants to kill the monster in front of them. They want the law to matter, to mean something. They want justice to mean something beyond vengeance. That there is another path besides blood and rage. But can the justice system really contain people like this? Will it protect future victims or just delay suffering? When someone bends every rule, manipulates every weakness, and weaponizes power itself... the law starts to feel so small and slow in comparison. And that is where temptation always steps in, right? In that suffocating feeling.Because crossing the line can look simple. Fast. Easy. End the threat and end the fear. But Jessica and Matt both understand something deeper.Sometimes killing the villain is not the hardest thing to do.That hardest thing is refusing to let the villain rewrite who you are underneath. And I love that wrestling parallel between them ❤️Thank you for your support on Patreon!Relax and enjoy 🍿🌿SYNC ALONG LINK: https://youtu.be/SFUz9hGoVR8I watched this on Disney+

Thanks for the uploads, little one. So glad you're the getting through all the copyrights and strikes. 😀❤️💪

I think for me, this is still the best season of television Marvel has ever produced.

I love how this show & daredevil really let us feel how much of these characters lives were in. Like they never sugar coat anything the world is dark & you don’t know what tomorrow will bring you just have to keep going & make whatever you can out of what life deals you.

It's very poetic, although not very subtle, how Jessica realizes that she is strong and doesn't have to "listen" to Killgrave anymore. I love how they treat very realistic things like abusive and manipulative personnalities through the supernatural lense, similar to how Daredevil always has the theme of Catholic guilt with Matt. And the death by a thousand cut scene was awesome, Carrie Ann Moss was finally able to showcase more than her ice cold acting chops there with how terrified she sounded.

My continuing thanks and appreciation Kali for you incredible reactions to so many incredible shows.... The always make my evenings so much more complete.. Thank you.

Marvel did not produce these. They are Netflix.

KJ

Respectfully... Marvel's chairman and ceo of entertainment at the time Ike Perlmutter gave Netflix the time-based exclusive broadcast rights, but it's still a Marvel production (Marvel Television, in association with ABC Studios and Tall Girls Productions). That's why they're no longer on Netflix but are now homed at Disney Plus. Perlmutter ran the entertainment division separate from Kevin Feige who's role then was President of Marvel Studios (movies). Feige became Chief Creative Officer in 2019 ahead of the Disney Plus launch, pretty much pushing Perlmutter out.

Kaitlyn

love your reactions and i'm glad you like jessica jones

I had forgotten about that coffee table bit. As soon as it came on screen all I could think was "Man, Kali really put two opposite ends of the tonal spectrum on her list between this and One Piece" 🤣

Mister Lou

I've always, always ALWAYS hated the dumb "cop" Simpson.. ever since he wouldn't leave Trish alone. And the weird red head twin completely messed everything up! 🤬 ugh! Such a frustrating episode! But good drama!

Howie

Your hair looks great, Kali! One again I really appreciate your write ups. “Every conversation he has feels poisoned.” You couldn’t have phrased it better. Even when Killgrave was locked up and “powerless,” his words felt venomous and were able to manipulate. Btw, Simpson is based on a comic book character called Nuke. Do you remember back in the first few episodes when you said he reminded you of Captain America? I thought it was ironic because Nuke was also a soldier and had a American flag tattooed to his face (and fought Steve Rogers briefly in a Daredevil comic). Thanks again for the great reaction! Don't blame you for feeling woozy as these two episodes were probably the most unsettling of this season for me too. But we’re almost at the end!

rian

your hair’s so pretty tied up 🤩

Unlike daredevil which ive rewatched probably 3 times, i have not seen any of this show since i initially watched it nearly 10 years ago. I remember liking it, just not liking it as much as daredevil, but i feel like i always remembered much more about the other shows. Holy BALLS i did not remember how dark and uncomfortable it gets. These episodes actually made me kinda squeamish 😵‍💫

Jose Morales

Great reaction. These two episodes looked like they pushed your tolerance of the blood/death, and understandably so. When you mentioned not wanting a glass table like that, I immediately remembered my old glass table that looked very similar. I used to bump my shin at least a couple of times a week, minimally. What was worse is one corner did break off from a move. Once that cut my leg (nothing serious) I tossed that table. Stupid table. Lol. Anywho, can't wait for the next couple of episodes next week.

SgtOddity

I find it funny how Simpson's involvement starts so small and spirals into any entire sub plot. I dont think its amazingly well done but I do like how it has some parralel themes about control. Another plus is that allot of the Simpson sub plot happens off screen which is really important in not detracting from the main story so whilst his story isnt super well written, the way it is edited into the main story is a masterclass on how to have sub plots which are interesting but dont screw with the shows pacing.

Amir

I think the scene with Hogarth and her girlfriend is meant to demonstrate shes just like Kilgrave bc she says the same gaslighty bullshit to her girlfriend that kilgrave says to Jessica "Well I personally didnt make you do it you chose to do that." Which is manipulative as fuck

kaliwali

oh man.. for sure! super manipulative and very comparable to Kilgrave

kaliwali

my weeks definitely feel a bit whiplashy with this in the mix lately LOL but I love it!

StrawPaladin

Great reaction as always. It is unsettling to know that of the many villains out there in comics and even real life, this sort of villain is truly one of the scariest imaginable. For me, watching this show made me realize that giving up control over my own life for someone else's benefit doesn't need to happen. Although broken in so many ways, Jessica teaches us that you can overcome you own weakness and stand strong.

KJ

Even before episode 10, I'd heard about the dangers in having a glass coffee table in the home 😳

Chris

And every character is always interesting and complex. Motivations are understood (sometimes very slowly but even more fun). I really would have liked to write Simpson out of the story, I wasn't fond of the character as much, but watching it a second time I'm more at peace with it. Probably because you liked him. Oh no you're a Mini-Kilgrave! Jkjkjkjk sorry. 😜
