This stretch of episodes was AMAZING! Honestly I had high hopes going into the Sanji/Baratie/Zeff arc bc it was my absolute favorite parts from the Live Action.I love that the Baratie didn't just introduce Sanji, but reveals him.In all of his chefy, ladies man, oregano hating glory. At first, he comes off exactly how I expected from the LA. Smooth, charming, a little dramatic with the ladies lol. But underneath that, there's this code that runs through his veins and into everything he does. He absolutely refuses to let anyone go hungry. Even enemies. Even the worst of the worst. It feels so simple on the surface, but once they drop the lore on him and Zeff. It all makes sense and the more his choice starts to carry some real weight. It's not just kindness, it's memory. Survival. A promise.Zeff and Sanji's story is everything. I thought I was prepared to hear it again, but I wasn't. The way Zeff shows his love in such rough ways. It makes it so real. And now I understand why Sanji is the way that he is thanks to the lore in these episodes which was amazing to uncover along the way!And Zoro... That fight. Wow.Just like in the Live Action there's no shortcuts here. You sit in it. You feel every second of him standing there, facing someone he knows deep down he can't beat. But choosing to do it anyway. Not for pride, not for ego. Just because his dream demands it of him. And then the promise after. Her sword to the heavens. It shifted how I looked at the Live Action in so many ways. It's beautiful, a turning point, a true promise to Luffy, forever.I love that the anime gives you time to fall into these moments. To sit with the weight of choices. To love these characters even more!See you all next week for more, I can't wait 🏴‍☠️Thank you for your support on Patreon!Relax and enjoy 🍿🌿SYNC ALONG LINK: https://youtu.be/yQHhI1PxfEgI watched this on Netflix in original Japanese with subtitles

We are getting so spoiled this weekend Kali.. From the quirks of Spy x Family, the action of X-Men: Wolverine, the brilliance of Demon Slayer, this superbly fun and chaotic One Piece AND a brand new show with Witch Hat Atelier, and this weekend has been crammed full of goodness.... Thank you SO much, you truly are the epitome of awesomeness... Enjoy the rest of your Sunday..

2026-09-07 13:00 Zeff ate his own leg in order that Sanji could eat all the regular food that they had, saving him from potential further starvation/self mutilation/canabalism.

One piece time!!!!

I watched only half of it, so maybe you mention this later, but Don Krieg appears in live action, during Mihawks introduction, that's whose ship he cuts in half, Ghin also appears when Luffy and Sanji are speaking in the kitchen. In the anime they censored him cutting his leg, live-action follows the manga, in the manga they show how he cuts it off... I don't know if you caught it, Sanji getting annoyed and commenting about Zoro, his dream and ambition, Sanji himself abandoned his dream because of Zeff, because he thought he had to repay his debt, and got annoyed when Zoro was ready to die for his.

Johnny and Yosaka accidentally kissed. That’s what happened

In the anime, I'd say sanji is more of a simp than a ladies man, lol

I really liked hearing your observations about the crews differences and similarities between the anime and live action. I’d love to have a more in depth discussion about that a little bit later but right now it’s a little early to talk about my opinions on this until a little more of the crews personality is fully fleshed out. For now I’ll say obviously the gags and over the top energy of everyone is more understated in live action. Understandably since they are cartoon characters. Sanji is waaay more flirtatious and over the top with women in the anime and manga which would have probably come off as creepy instead of funny in live action. I personally find him the most changed out of anyone in the crew. Nami gets to be a lot funnier in a very gag like way here again because she a cartoon. Both are amazing in their own way. Your observations on Luffy are very interesting. I have a lot of thoughts but that is definitely a discussion to be had a little bit later. Not really for spoiler reasons but juts because the examples haven’t presented themselves yet. But Iñaki still completely embodies Luffy in his own unique way that totally works. As always great reactions and can’t wait for more!

Sorry I forgot to add this. This isn’t a spoiler but a fun detail I feel can be pointed out now. Don Krieg assuming Mihawk has a devil fruit shows his own ignorance of the world and especially the Grand Line. Mihawk absolutely does not have a fruit. You do not need a fruit to be considered one of the strongest characters in this world. He juts like mots people who have a small knowledge about the Grand Line assumed that strength can be obtained easily juts by eating a Devil fruit. Of course they can give you amazing powers. And of course since the strongest pirates gather in the Grand Line there are a lot of people who have powers granted by Devil Fruits but it’s not that simple. He can’t accept that someone could so easily defeat him without some sort of “cheat” or shortcut. As usual Oda creates his world with rich detail both big and small.

Man I can’t stop making comments today. Yes in the manga Zeff ate his own leg. In the anime they changed it because they thought it would be too traumatic for a young audience so they censored it. At the time One Piece was not nearly as big and popular as now so things like this were more common. There will be a few more examples going forward but this is a big one. But Zeff eating his leg is canon

Chuckles1004

The reaction not withstanding, luv the hair and the spring fit vibes!

Ancientswords

In the Manga Zeff ate his own foot, but for the Anime it was too much to show, so they kind of left it unspoken/unseen.

PG Modehouse

Yep, understandably, they censored the cannibalism in the anime. At the time for this era of One Piece, the airing timeslot was after school, so it makes sense they'd change it. However the anime adds some peripheral depth to the scene by highlighting the waste of leftovers, and the irony of having all this treasure and no food. And also Zeff's new dream, now that he's lost his primary weapon as a pirate.

Clifton

Yes, he ate his leg. It's heavily implied in the anime but outright stated in the manga and the Live action

Zoodinger

As the other commenter said Don Krieg is in the live action, he's who Mihawk fights while Garp is calling him. But what few people notice (I didn't either until it was pointed out to me) is that Pearl is in it too, lying dead on the ground in one of the shots.

Zoodinger

Also Zeff doesn't talk about wanting to have a restaurant in the live action. It's things like this that make me love the anime more than the LA overall. Another thing I like that they skipped is the whole leftovers thing.

shu

Baratie was inspired by a real restaurant where ONE PIECE creator Eiichiro Oda used to held a part-time job as a teenager . Oda worked at a restaurant called Baratei, which means "Rose Arbor."

6 episodes in a week is amazing. let’s go!!! ❤️❤️❤️

kaliwali

Ahhh that's awesome! I knew it had to have some sort of meaning.. Thank you!

Between Zoro and Sanji, I can never decide who is the best member of the team. If Zoro is Luffy's right hand, then Sanji is his left. The actual goats.

I am enjoying your reactions a lot... I'm just a bit behind. The reason why Zeff immediately jumped into the water after the kid (Sanji) was because he just kicked him twice so the kid would be immobilized, paralyzed, only semi-conscious. The wave swept in sideways and took young Sanji off the deck. He had no chance, he would drown for sure after taking 2 kicks from Zeff. And the reason why he kicked him was because he was armed and fighting with a knife. We see all the other adult cooks were on the sidelines not fighting. The entertainment system they have you know is manga... and then anime... and OVA... maybe a movie... and sometimes they recreate the same story again for a special version... and maybe sometimes they make a chibi version lol. Anyway, each time they can add refinement to the story, changing things a little. Oh and now they make a Live Action version too. Each time they retell the story they can make some changes, add detail or use shortcuts. To me it's all fair. Anyway the leg... many say that in the manga he eats his leg. In the anime we can clearly see he used the anchor chain to remove his leg that was pinned. Of course people can "see" what they wish to see, it's all good. They make changes to details of the story at will, for example the live action may use different details, I think we know this. Also someone must like the "he eats his leg" route because they put it back in or suggests he does it. In the anime, if he found his amputated leg then maybe he could eat it... but maybe maybe that doesn't create the desired metaphor. It's all okay. If people want we can question the validity of destroying one appendage to try and eat it... but the vitality lost in the destructive act does not return more vitality in the act of eating it. Also the reason starving people become skin and bones is because the body automatically starts eating fat and muscle n the starvation process... the body eats itself anyway. Adding trauma to the body will probably quicken death... it's the quickening. Anyway what a great show!
