I know a lot of you recommended both the theatrical cut and the Rogue Cut for a first time watch. After going back and forth A LOT, I decided to watch the theatrical version for many reasons. I talk about a few of them in the intro here, but I also realized even for myself the Rogue Cut isn't as readily available for those who watch the sync along format. I also wanted to experience the more fluid storytelling of the theatrical version first which is apparently the reason so many of you loved this one when it first released! I'll definitely be going back to check out the Rogue Cut since I absolutely LOVED this film. What I loved the most about this one was the overwhelming sense of hope vs inevitability. Seeing everyone die right away gave me some serious X-Men: The Last Stand PTSD lol. But then the timeline started to shift and change. I loved the concept of this entire movie! Seeing younger Charles meet the man he will one day grow into was such a beautifully powerful scene. And James McAvoy was still phenomenal. Even when I was angry at his constant toxic cycle of revenge. And Quicksilver! I wasn't prepared for how fun and effortlessly cool he'd be. I remember him from WandaVision and you all told me about the inside joke from his role in the X-Men films. But I completely forgot about that until I saw 'Maximoff' pop up on the mailbox outside of his house! After spending so much time in a future filled with loss and cycles of hatred for mutants, seeing the timeline rewritten felt pretty awesome and satisfying. It has me really excited to see where the storyline goes from here now that mostly everything from the original trilogy is part of the future past lol. See you all in the next one!Thank you for your support on Patreon!Relax and enjoy 🍿🌿SYNC ALONG LINK: https://youtu.be/7lV4qbBLvYcI watched this on Disney+

Awww, I wanted daredevil 😢... It's cool ☺️

Liam Harrold

One of the best x-men films other than another but you'll get there eventually 😅🤭🤭🤭

kaliwali

More Daredevil coming this week! I can't wait to jump back in after vacay now!

Edgar Gonzalez

Jump straight back in, without a parachute! 💪❤️👌👍

If you watch the movie that comes after this before Logan It’s important to remember that by the end of this movie this is technically a new timeline. So everything we get from the next timeline doesn’t line up with the original trilogy because the timeline has been reset and the original trilogy is no longer the main timeline now. If that makes sense

Jojo Garlin

Wouldn’t even call that an X-Men film, really. But yes it is a great film

Liam Harrold

Still I consider it one 😅🤭🤭

Rant with nice words and compliments incoming... I can roll with the punches to save some people here $3 to rent it. Then we all get to watch the same version. I dig it...I am grateful you and your 'team' take the time to care about us at all...hope the vacation went well, and you and yours had fun and much needed r&r...glad to have you back..... I do suggest you watch the rogue cut on your own time tho... The rogue cut explains the plot hole after kitty gets stabbed and sorts a love triangle with ice dice bobby boy and also explains why magneto and Charles waited to execute the plan and it also has 2 extra action sequences and also makes sense of storms death and magneto's death because of what bobby said b4 to them but...ya no biggie...still a great great movie..i would compare it to not watching Civil War in the mcu and then watching infinity war. You might not know why Cap and iron man haven't talked among other things... , not gunna ruin the film but it does change it and how you view moments now and later... Thank-you for taking the time it takes to make your content. I and others love it. Your formula is working... ignore any haters...you r a gamer and know if you are running into enemies then you are probly going in the right direction. My house enjoys ya. Thank-you keep going...

Jojo Garlin

Oh the X Men dealing with Horrible Alternate Timelines is very routine for them. I can’t count on one hand how many nightmare future timelines the X Men have to deal with in the comics

SEAN ƴü KAY

Been excited for this reaction. Thank-you. If i were to make a list ranking every comic book film, this would be near the top for me. It is just such a comic feel and character feel among other stuff...Also curious what your list is... Thanks again for the content...

Jojo Garlin

The autopsy report were from the characters of the First Class. Banshee, Angel, Azazel they were experimented and killed

The Amazing Webhead

I am hyped to watch this. So this movie is based on the iconic X-Men storyline with the same name and premise. The comic was made in the 70's or 80's but it was a important story for the X-Men. The robots called Sentinels are staples in the lore as they appeared in the comics, cartoons, games, and this one. They are dangerous killing machines but are different looking here compared to their comic counterparts. Also seeing the present day cast and prequel cast in the same movie was awesome! The goal with this movie was to basically reset the timeline as the films do start to go off rails with the canon starting with Last Stand, Origins, and First Class as each contradict the previous films with the years and where each character was. Same problems here as well. So now, they created a new timeline where X2, Last Stand, Origins, and The Wolverine no longer happened. Only First Class still matters. Also seeing Quicksliver here was great and I believe he was better here than his MCU counterpart. The scene where he goes slow motion messing with the guards is a iconic moment. As mentioned, both him and Wanda are considered as X-Men characters as thats where they first appeared but soon became more associated to The Avengers. So Fox and Marvel/Disney found a loophole where they could legally have them appear in both franchises. Of course Disney eventually bought Fox in 2019 so it didn't matter anymore lol.

The Amazing Webhead

So in terms with this new timeline, everything coming after this movie is part of this new timeline. Deadpool movies, X-Men Apocalypse, and Logan for example. Still havent watch the video so don't know if you said but I don't know if you plan on rewatching the first Deadpool but I think it be great if you do before seeing the second one lol. Now you know why Deadpool changed from Origins to his movies where he is more comic accurate lol

StrayConfusion

The timeline up to this film: - 1845: Origins Wolverine (Opening scene) - 1962: First Class - 1979: Origins Wolverine (Main story) - 2003: X-Men - 2004: X2 - 2006: The Last Stand - 2013: The Wolverine - 2023: Days of Future Past (Opening scene) - 1973: Days of Future Past (New timeline)

SEAN ƴü KAY

Btw there is no time clock. I doubt this is new info....I personally like when it is there. And your channel in the past has always nailed this and been extremely accurate...not the end of the world, but I would appreciate it personally...if Noone else feels this way but me tho, just ignore it. Not a deal breaker for me...

Lastboyscout73

Love this movie, just because someone stumbles and loses their way, doesn't mean they're lost forever. A very powerful quote that I try to apply in life. We all have our bad days, and we don't always know what is going on in people's lives. I try to be compassionate when people have an off day. I would love to see you revisit Deadpool again, knowing what you know now. Just my two cents.

mitchhamilton64

wooooooh! x-men apocalypse then logan! charles speech to raven at the end is one of x-men's films best. i love it so much! glad you went with the theatrical cut. the stuff added for past stuff in the rogue cut i think is great but the stuff in the future feels weird and out of place. since youll watch i wont spoil what happens but i dont think it adds more than it takes away. fun fact, the two quicksilvers youve seen in the main MCU and the xmen universe have both played in kick ass. the one in the mcu was the titular character kick ass and this one was one of his friends. the non-glasses one. i always find this funny, how casually theyre like "yeah, i made a serum that is able to suppress the powers of a mutant for a short period whenever they need it... also, it can cure paralysis in the legs. no big deal." like, WHAT?! how has he not refined this to make it permanent?! and now we know how the pyramids were built. we all thought it was the aliens but now we know that it was a mutant! and thats a fact! youre right about the humor how its better. watching the og trilogy the humor at times is very awkward where youre just like "...huh?"

Now that Kali has returned from her long-deserved family vacation and has uploaded her reaction to "X-Men Days of Future Past" for us to enjoy, she might enjoy this brief conversation that James McAvoy had with late night host Seth Meyers in 2024, regarding how he got his start as a child with a famous actor and his current love of theme parks in the U.S. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VFtNPPs5Ro

The Dingo

FYI go back and watch Multiverse of Madness and the scenes with Professor X will hit different. Also Charles says the line you love so much in that movie too!

Matt Rowland

Kali, great reaction as usual!

M1 Maz

"because.... because, yeah!" Is pretty much the perfect way to sum up the X-Men timeline chaos 🤣

rubberkidney

X-Men '97, Kelly, is that going to be your short series you're going to watch? I hope so, but you have to watch it. That is as close to the authentic X-Men that everyone experienced in the '90s as you're going to get.

Joe Mallard

Can we get the time back on the screen to sync up?

fireforeffect

Thank you for all the contet you provide, im sure you hear it a lot but never hurts to add one more :P

Howie

Welcome back from your vacation! And thanks for getting this done so soon after getting back. Nah.. Unless you read the books already, I think watching the Extended version of LOTR trilogy is good for a first time viewer! Days of Future Past holds a special place in my heart as I loved the comic book arc the movie is very loosely based on. The story is very different but the essence basically there: going to the past to save the future. And of course I like the fact that it cleverly retconned the events of the original trilogy... essentially a reboot. Maybe a rewatch reaction for Deadpool just for Patreon? Otherwise... Apocalypse!

McShades

Wolverine go this metal claws in the early 80's, this movie takes place in the late 60's or early 70's I believe...

Jonah D Jackson

I would bet my left eye that a Deadpool rewatch would be a big hit with most Patreon supporters. I know I'd watch it.

Cody Miller

Yall needed not to say anything about the timeline because it confused her to much here. Everything in this movie that takes place in “the past” happens after first class. Logan also has bone claws because this was before his procedure.

Beezy0323

Love the reaction. It doesn't explain everything but Mystique for example in the original timeline does get captured and experimented but she breaks out sometime and goes back to Erik angrier which leads to Xmen one through 3 and scientists like stated not perfecting the technology for 50 years. Also in Xmen last stand Charles transfers his conscience into a comatose body that's why he's still alive and as you saw the drugs don't last so everyone like Magneto get their powers back. Lastly Beast is correct in that time for most part does correct it's self and there are canon events ie Logan getting the metal put in him by William. Also Professor X seeing Jean turn into the dark Phoenix in Logan's head allowed him to know so he was able to stop her from becoming evil.

Phil Stubblefield

Fantastic film and reaction, Kali! And I would *love* to see a rewatch of Deadpool! I don't even really like the movie very much — I'm not into the gratuitous violence and language — but I would love to watch *you* see it again, because I'm sure there will be many enjoyable "Aha!" moments due to your newfound knowledge. 😊 BTW, I invite you to go back to 1:49:30 in this film and revisit the short scene in which the Maximoff household watches the live broadcast of Magneto at the White House. There's Mom, there's Peter, and... Wait! Who's that sitting on Peter's lap? Perhaps a younger sibling... 😉

Shane

So the charter you seen at the end credit is an EXTREMELY important figure in the comics and his name is En Sabah Nur and if you noticed in the background there were 4 figures on horses, that's an important reference..... now they kinda botched the next movie a little but it has 1 of the coolest scenes in all of comic movies...... it also has in my opinion, some of the best acting in any of the movies! It's not a bad movie but for most it's a drop off from the first couple in terms of story! Also remember when Peter Maximoff said to Magneto "my mum use to know a guy who could control metal" it comes back around again!

Alexander Ocean

Man I love this movie so much!! I cannot wait until we get to Logan!!

Calbert

If you wanted to do a Patreon exclusive rewatch reaction of Deadpool, I’d watch it lol. Seeing your reactions to some of the jokes and references you didn’t get the first time would be entertaining.

Killua X

Hey Kali, great watch, thanks. Just wanted to say that you're right that James McAvoy is an incredible actor and if you're interested in checking out some of his other movies that would be something I'm sure a lot of people would love to watch. The movie Split definitely comes to mind, which is actually the sequel to Unbreakable (M.Night Shyamalan). Also can't wait till we get to Logan. Idk if you've already watched Deadpool 2 but hopefully you haven't because that would spoil Logan and Loki the series (which is some of the best marvel content to date hope you consider watching that too!).

McShades

Just a suggestion, but X-Men Apocalypse & Dark Phoenix are optional watches, as far as I can remember their stories have no impact on MCU movies and I'm not really sure how popular they would be for reaction videos both movies did poorly at the box office. Even if you don't make reaction videos I would watch them on your own time, even though they're not the best X-Men movies out there, they were still entertaining... My suggestion on what to watch next would be Deadpool 2 (since you saw the first one already), Blade, Fantastic Four (original movie), then Logan, Loki (2 seasons) and then you will be ready for Deadpool & Wolverine or you could go back to the MCU list first before watching Deadpool & Wolverine...

Mister Lou

The cure is a bit obscure.. Mystic got hit by one dart, Eric got stabbed by like 4 or 5 by Beast. And yet Megneto got his powers back, eventually. Even a bit at the very end of 3. So Rogue Cut is great. Its not just a few scenes added to put her in the movie, its actually a new restructured film. I would love to see your reaction to that and a revisit of Deadpool movies!

IsaacDoesStuff

I really want to make a compilation of you saying "that's crazy" xD

David Fürstenberg

The quote "Just because someone stumbles and loses their way doesn't mean they're lost forever" was later quoted again by Charles in the second Doctor Strange movie.

Jose Morales

I like how you mentioned the COVID hair. I did the same thing. Had a life changing event happen in December 2019. Then COVID happened. I was one of the few stuck at the office while most got to work from home, so I grew my hair out and didn't cut it until people were brought back to work in office in May of 2023. Had my hair down to the middle of my back before chopping it off. As for the movies from here on, I watched most of the next X-Men movie, but I didn't like it. After hearing multiple people that have similar taste as me td me the the one after that one was bad, so I didn't even bother. Logan, however, was definitely one that stood out to me. As for the quote of Charles telling young Charles the just because someone stumbles quite was one you heard before when you watched Dr Strange In The Multiverse of Madness when he said it when Strange was on trial in from of The Illuminati.

mitchhamilton64

apocalypse has a moment that leads into logan in the post credits. thats all the movie serves for logan.

Fred Aczon

I don't know if you caught it, but the scene where Magneto is making his speech to the world, and it cuts to Quicksilver's household, and Peter/Piotr was watching with his red headed sister, that's supposed to be the FOX universe's version of Wanda. The rights to who can use these characters was messy at this time, as Wanda and Pietro has ties to both X-men and Avengers. In the MCU they had to change their parental origin because Marvel Studios couldn't use Magneto. Can't wait for Logan!!

Amko Basic

Like a couple of other people have said I wouldn't mind a deadpool rewatch even if it was only for patreon to see if you catch all the references you missed the first time. This one is probably my favorite x-men assemble movie just because of charles whole storyline. I have rewatched this movie probably about 6 times and I didn't even know it had an "rogue" cut lol.

Chad Bushue

Great reaction as always Kali! Please make sure you watch Logan BEFORE you watch Deadpool 2 as well as Deadpool and Wolverine I’m trying to prevent the added grief of spoilers from Logan if you watch Deadpool 2 first Keep up the great work!

StianWiu

I would definitely love to see you watch Deadpool again with all of the context of the previous movies.

Ron K

Please put the complete X-Men animated series on your list. Not just the new seasons of X-Men 97' (1 already out, season 2 on its way), but the original seasons that that came out in the 90's. It follows the story lines from the comics and you see a lot of inspiration from it in the movies. Plus they spend a lot of time on character development including the love triangle between Jean, Logan and Scott.

Hans Engelen

Honestly for LoTR and The Hobbit, the Extended versions are the only ones anyone should watch. People will disagree with me but meh ... They are just plain wrong ... the end.

KamikazeCDN

While I won't give away any straight up spoilers (no plotlines, no specific characters, nothing like that), I can't avoid giving you some sort of idea to something in the future when leaving this comment so apologies. Perhaps if a mod sees this first they can give you a nudge and I can get rid of the comment before you notice it? It may be worth your time watching at least the first Fantastic Four (2005) movie and the Blade Trilogy (Blade, Blade 2 and Blade: Trinity) before watching Deadpool & Wolverine for reasons. I won't say why but those who know will understand the suggestion. You can totally watch the sequel (Rise of the Silver Surfer) to that Fantastic Four if you want but it won't add any further context. And technically you could get away with just the first Blade but they are all good movies and you'll get some further context as well.

Al Paka

Actually, I don't think either version is bad, but I do prefer the theatrical cut. The film was like a rollercoaster ride, and I think all the actors were great. ^^

Christian F

Calling Peter Dinklage "the big dwarf from Thor" is a tragedy lol. He's most known for playing Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones which is one of the best characters in TV history.

Daniel Morgan

That line when Charles Xavier talks to his past self: "Just because someone stumbles, loses their way, it doesn't mean they are lost forever." (1:25:38) That's the same line from Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness, when he let Doctor Strange go instead of voting him out while the Illuminati were facing Wanda.

pinkdino99

This is the best it gets, and is the best it got until Logan. The original comic Days of Future Past waaaaay back in 1981 was the first time the X-Men had a visitor from the future predicting ultimate doom, something that happens so often in the comics these days that its even been lampooned. But in the original comic it was Kitty Pryde that got sent back into her 15yr old self. But this movie is great, marrying the original trilogy with the rebooted cast beautifully and somehow also delivers a reasonably coherent time travel movie. Again this is largely due to the strength of this awesome assembly cast. And you touched on the central theme of all X-Men material... neither Charles nor Eric are completely correct in their motives. Eric can't solve everything by simply killing all the humans (there is a comic series called M-Day which proved that...) any more than Charles can forcibly make humans stop hating and killing mutants. The answer is never black or white. Right or wrong. This grey area in between is where the best X-Men stories lie.

Walker

You seemed so touched when Logan saw Jean. Were you just happy to see her alive or does that mean you are rooting for Jean and Logan now? 💕

Jacob

Don't forget, this is just one of many universes, things may or may not match up perfectly, but it's irrelevant because we have now idea what universe this takes place

Chris Waltman

I've been waiting for this since you started with the X Men. In my opinion, this is the best movie out of the whole Fox X Men franchise.

DSJ.

The only way this movie could have been better is if they had MagMcKellen teaching a class at the very end. (Probs would be teaching Shakespeare.)
