This part of the season feels like we're in the middle of a weird chaotic storm. Every path gets darker and more twisty and honestly confusing.

Matt is carrying way too much. The weight of being Daredevil, the guilt, the responsibility of putting people around him in danger, the constant pull between justice and vengeance. It feels like it's all crashing down on him. You can see it in the way he talks and carries himself now. There were moments where I genuinely didn't know what choice he was going to make. It's terrifying to watch.Frank continues to be such a compelling character in this season for me. Every time I think I have him figured out, another layer gets added. His story is so tragic that even when I disagree with his methods.. I understand them. I get the pain that's driving him. I'd turn dark for my family, too.And then that scene with Matt and Frank on the ship...The sign of the cross before Matt tells him he's done with his lawful methods. He's ready to take a life, "just this one time".For all of Frank's brutality, he's the one who really understand that darkness better than anyone. And I'm glad but shocked he gives it back to Matt straight. There isn't just a one time. He knows exactly what happens when you convince yourself there's one exception, one justified kill, one line you're allowed to cross just because. It was a really crazy reversal to watch. The man who spent this entire season trying to convince Matt that some people deserve to die... becoming the one warning him of the cost it takes. I can't wait to see where this season finale goes... Because WOW.These last few episodes have been all over the place so far.

Yay! That is all, excuse me while I go do a happy dance Carry about your day.

Great reaction, Kali! I can't wait til you get to The Punisher series and One Last Kill witch is just a 45 minute one shot episode. Glad you had a great vacation!🙂

Narutoanime16

I can’t help keep comparing Matt’s guilt to Spiderman, with Matt it just feels so much heavier because he’s religious & how he views what he does on himself, then Peter it’s just bad luck on top of bad luck with powerful powers involved .

Chad Bushue

Shhhhh, don’t spoil things goober 🤪

David L

It's in a trailer released months ago, guy. Hardly a spoiler.

I really like how the show evolves Matt's character from his internal struggle against killing in the first season to an external struggle against forces like the Punisher and Elektra trying to pull him in that direction. But Matt's more secure so he's not just resisting their influence, he's also pulling on them. I do miss Matt's conversations with his priest but the conversations between Matt and the Punisher (and Karen and the Punisher) more than make up for it. The Punisher character is so interesting too. It surprised me he wouldn't take "yes" for an answer when Matt talks about making an exception. Like he begrudgingly admires Matt and wants to preserve him.

She avoids watching trailers, so I get your point, but telling her about things seen in trailers is still a minor spoiler :)

In episode 10, I've always wondered if Matt was faking being dazed and injured by Fisk, or was he really hurt. It's because, even if Fisk was pulling his punches, he could've easily killed a normal person by slamming them into a metal table. And if he was using normal strength, then he must suspect that Matt isn't your average blind person. Yeah, rewatching that scene reminded me of this. LOL Kaii, at 54:42 you held that pose for like 15 seconds 🤣 The whole thing with Stick, Elekta and the Hand should be answered in due time...

David L

Well now I know. I won't do it again. Edited.

Like I've commented before, I think you got to finish the defender saga before you can understand everything about the hand the mystical stuff and personally I don't know if I understood more it it than you when I was at the same point in the show as you are now back when. Since I have already watching everything if that makes sense. You really get scared easily xD sometimes when I watch these reactions with you I think to myself there should be a Kaliwali jumpscare drinking game but we all would probably be dead from alcohol poisoning from this episode alone! Can't wait until next week!

Ricky

lol the punisher is so damn good, i get goosebumps when bernthal as frank castle is on screen, straight up badassary lol

Michael Enos

I love Jon Bernthal's Punisher... and I love the relationship his character has with Karen Page.

Yeah, Claire acts strange whenever Matt is accused by her to be "dragging her into a mess" or however else it's described when all he did was bring people to a hospital because they needed to be there. What's the alternative? Leave them to die while Claire has less of a burden of her job to handle? Should Matt not get ambulances on the scene where all the craziness caused by The Hand, The Punisher, or Wilson Fisk happened? So what if there's crime scene where a dozen people were discovered by Matt to have their ribcages opened up? If they can be saved, that doesn't merit Claire's complaints in what she's been hired to do.

Giancarlo Gasparin

D'onofrio's so good, man. Few people embody a character the way he does with Kingpin.

Giancarlo Gasparin

I have to fully agree with your closing thought on this reaction. It'll be interesting to get your take on the how the season ends, but at this point in the show, I recall feeling like the Elektra/Stick/Hand storyline was easily the weakest and most frustrating part of season. It kinda felt like the writers didn't know exactly where to go with it, and it's a shame because outside of that, the season's actually been really great.

claire i think was kind of in the same state as me a bit with matts attitude. it seemed like matt was just throwing a pity party and im sure his feelings are genuine but its like what that father said to him in like episde 3 or 4 when matt was just going on and on about not doing enough despite saying he did everything he could. basically, matt needs to stop thinking that he can save everyone, that he can always be there. its a noble notion, but an impossible feat. he does incredible good, more good than anyone could or would expect but hes wallowing in guilt over it still. its not healthy, and now hes using it to not go see his friend whos hurt and making himself to be the only hero to stop everything when it could get him killed. knowing anything about the punisher, i knew it wasnt him. way too sloppy. those other hits were against multiple men in a closed off location. the DA? the doctor? easy to see into windows and multiple bullets for one target. frank needs just the one opportunity without wasting ammo to take his target down.

mitchhamilton64

well, killing matt, even with well paid off guards and a lawyer, it would be hard to hide that fact and make his sentencing easier. also, its hard to do life ending damage slamming someone against a table, people usually resist that when youre doing that so, he stops some of the impact.

This season basically has two parts, the punisher part and the Elektra/hand part. The punisher side is really good. So good, in fact, that when he is on screen it feels like it is his show. He is so captivating as a character and the performance is incredible. The other side with elektra, stick, and the hand is confusing/frustrating.

kaliwali

Yeah exactly!! I couldn't tell why her jabs at Matt were making me so mad but you finally put it into words. She's a nurse. She said it when she quit too. The hospital is supposed to help people no matter what.

kaliwali

Yes! When The Punisher is on the screen it definitely shifts into his show lol

Lastboyscout73

Elektra finally has her signature weapons! All that mystical stuff is a long story line, yes it pulls you in and you want to know more but you will learn it.....eventually.

Onno Smits

Very interesting reaction of Castle when Matt said he'd be open to killing "just this once". Such a cool multi-layered character! We have very different interpretations of Claire's behaviour. I think she's just very worried about Matt, still cares deeply for him, and that's why she's saying those things. Not to hurt him, but to try and dissuade him from continuing on this path. She (correctly, I think) believes it will end horrendously for Matt. And I was right, I definitely hadn't seen these episodes before, so I can theorize without spoiling anything. Looking forward to more! The "The Hand"-stuff still really irks me, but I'm very curious how the Frank Castle/Blacksmith storyline progresses.

Finally Electra gets her Sai (I bought ten Electra comics today for my birfday !) You should not throw Claire under the bus for her tough love. This isn't personal with her. She recognised EXACTLY the dangerous line Matt is treading by acting like a martyr and forgetting what is important - Foggy and Karen, both of which he has cut loose over the course of this season. AND his law firm. He is ungrounded. As you say... he's lost hope. He sees that the only solution is being the vigilante. Claire tried to bring him back, BEGGED him to come and see his friend. Yes her words were harsh, but if that was my friend I'd be the same (oh I've been there... I'd bonk him on the head with something !) This sets us Claire as her alter-ego in the comics - The Night Nurse !

TheTriibalChief

Punisher's monologue in the diner from this episode always gets me choked up. "She'll never hurt me again. I'll never feel that." You never know when the fight you're having with someone could be the last one you ever have with them. Even in the bad moments, it's so important to cherish the things and the people you have. Gets me every time.🥲

I said it in the last reaction... make sure that you watch S1 of Like Cage and Iron Fist before you start Defenders. Things will make a lot more sense. Little bit surprised you didn't do the expected standing ovation when Reyes got killed... anyway it will get a lot easier to follow things and understand a little better if you realise that what you are watching is in actual fact a war, with civilians right in the middle... and in a war Law is irrelevent. Also I told you before (after 7,8 9) that things were going to get weird... well it'll get weirder still. Have fun. look forward to the final 2.

Dude Longcouch

OMG Kali, your reaction to the creepy kids was so adorable lmao. The way you just wanted to nope out of that entire situation 😂🤣😂

Claire is just being real with Matt and she is %100 right he is acting like an idiot

Derrick C. Shields

Yeah, I was thinking the same. Her response to the hospital scene talk with Claire was weird for me. The Hand shows up, Matt believes he can stop them alone, he can't, they succeed in their mission and retrieve the victims. Then Matt shows up like "I'm fine. No changes needed. Other than I need to do better and save literally everyone." I don't know what part of pointing that out and trying to get Matt to admit he can't do this by himself is showing a lack of faith. Claire has said more than once that she believes this city needs Daredevil. So if anything, she sounds like she's giving her good friend a reality check. "You can't do this alone"; "how will you help anyone if you die fighting an army of ninjas"; whatever way you wanna take it. Faith in a friend is great, blind faith is stupid, and I think that's what Claire would have if she tacitly supported him like "you're right. Keep trying to protect the entire city and blaming yourself every time someone gets hurt, even when you saved three times as many lives. That's healthy, good plan."

SMPUNK

Basically when i saw this the first time when it came out on Netflix i had the same feeling as u girl. Hopefully if u keep goin with the defender saga u'll see some more connections and what not and questions answered as well. much love Kali

Giancarlo Gasparin

The scene between Frank at Karen in the diner is easily one of the best scenes in the entire series. There's something so captivating about watching a character who's experienced such loss and unimaginable levels of physical, emotional, and mental pain, so accurately describe what love is. Frank is spitting the coldest of truths when he says that love without pain is no love at all. "But she'll never hurt me again. You see, I'll never feel that." Hits like a sledgehammer. Watching that scene has always made me feel some type of way, as it's one of THEE most IYKYK real life moments I can think of.
