What I continue to love the MOST about Avatar is just how human it feels.Every episode has me laughing and having fun on the surface but underneath it sneaks up on you and always ends up being about people. Their fears. Their hopes. Their mistakes. The things that shape them into who they become. "The Blue Spirit" shot up there on my favorite episodes list.It made me look at Aang and Zuko in a new way.Do you think we could have been friends? 🤍I genuinely think the answer is yes. They're so much more alike than they realize. I also can't shake the feeling that Zuko is a genuinely good guy. That he wouldn't be like the other Fire Nation Generals and order genocide without blinking. And every time Zhao opens his mouth I get more convinced that Zuko is just different from all of them. The Fortuneteller was also such an awesome and fun episode! Do you guys believe in fortune tellers? I've seen a couple over the years and read tarot cards (more for fun and manifestation than deciding what to have for breakfast lol). One honestly creeped me out a bit because she knew things I never expected. But most of the others feel like they're just giving me good ideas to believe in so I could make them happen myself. And honestly? I kind of love fortunetellers for that reason. They spark the basics of manifestation without ever calling it that. And I love how much Avatar seems to touch on the idea of manifestation in a few episodes now! Believe something is possible. Live like it's your reality. Take steps toward it every day. There's something really beautiful about that mindset and I appreciate it so much in this series ☁️The last episode, Bato of the Water Tribe... It left me feeling kinda sad.At first I was mad that Aang would betray his friends. But it wasn't just a selfish kid wanting attention. It's Aang. The boy who already lost everything and is terrified of losing more.I'm just glad the episode ended by reminding all of them that they're family. And I really hope they keep choosing each other from here on out.Thank you for your support on Patreon!Relax and enjoy 🍿🌿SYNC ALONG LINK: https://youtu.be/uM0GwKi1oWcI watched this on Netflix

Best way to end the day! The blue spirit is an all time episode just so good

Slow Shadow

I was about to go to sleep but guess I don't need sleep that bad 😁

The sync along video is still private kali! I'll still watch through Patreon but just letting you know 🤭

To your point about how there’s things about the characters that annoy you. Understand that every decision this show makes about the characters is very intentional. Even the fact on why Sokka was sexist for example has a reason behind that. The way these characters grow and mature is subtle but awesome at the same time. I always suggest after finishing the show you should go back to watch the first episode just to see how far these characters have come along.

Dude Longcouch

Seems the Youtube link is unavailable?

No worries, Kali. I hope you are feeling 100% 90% maybe? :)

Yep, platypus are one of the five living mammals to lay eggs, the other four are all species of echidna.

20 16

The platypus is one of only two mammals that lay eggs .

Andre Harry

12:55 that reaction floored me haha.

50:00 Yeah, fun fact when Mark Hamill received the script for the series he thought that the show would get cancelled because it was too smart for children. He said he appreciates that the show would talk up to children rather than talk down to them. Which I interpreted that the creators believed that children will catch the morals and themes without turning it into dumb, nonsensical humor specifically for children to laugh at.

dont worry, kali, i got just the thing for your migraine and cold. you just need to suck on these frozen frogs. :D i was gonna make the comment in the blue spirit episode but yeah, the choreography is so good, and i like the setup to it. how aang and zuko are trying to leave instead of making it an all out fight, the desperation of it and thinking on their feet. so good. i forgot how lighthearted the fortuneteller is, with some really good jokes. bato! what i love about the episode thats a bit overlooked is when sokka already pretty much passed his test he was like "lets push it a little more!" and usually when a teacher or more experienced person goes "maybe we shouldnt" the writing reinforces it by having them fail in some way, flying too close to the sun but instead hes rewarded with actually passing the harder part, showing his strengths in leadership and quick thinking. i like the change from the usual sort of hubris path. id like to re-iterate, since he did such a good job with the sound of the platypusbear, the sound the animals make are mostly done by one guy, dee bradly baker. he did the sound for the platypus bear, the frogs, momo, appa, just a talented man.

Sadly, they polished all the personality out of the characters for the Netflix show. I think I mentioned that in the first-ever ATLA reaction video comment I made, which was ridiculously long, so I don't blame you for not reading it. I can feel you starting to absorb Uncle into your nervous system. Thats good.

Without any spoilers just common sense logic here if your being held to a stalemate for trying to take the most fortified and heavily guarded city for 8 days straight don’t doubt someone’s pie shong skills a master of strategy is required to have that much determination and dedication I wouldn’t take him lightly . Pie shong basically a Chinese or eastern game of chess so in avatar terms a grandmaster.

charlie

the blue spirit theme is one of my favorites in the show

ATLA harkens back to the concept of family media. Not kids media vs adult media, but FAMILY media. It manages to be fun for kids, and possible to follow, while having deep messages, outstanding writing, and very complex motivations for older viewers. You are now into the fully realized show, and in my opinion, the quality simply does not drop off at any point for the rest of the show (there are always individual eps someone might not like as much, of course, but that doesn't mean they're BAD). Great reaction, as always!

charlie

that duck quacking is hilarious to me every time

In the Blue Spirit episode you mentioned the fight animation getting better, probably because Aang is getting better. Well you’re right and the Cloud bending you saw next in the Fortune Teller episode is a good example of why the fight animation will keep getting better. Because it was an earlier episode where Aang tried jumping on a cloud after Sokka dared Katara to try it, discovering clouds are water in the process. So there will be several instances of small throwaway moments that seem like just fun facts that will turn around and give the characters more creative uses for their bending. Offensively, defensively, and pure utility-wise Also the Blue Spirit episode has to be more creative with its fight choreography by default because Zuko has to specifically go out of his way to not use ANY fire bending whatsoever in the fight. He has to rely entirely on his blades or risk arousing suspicion/blowing his cover. And that limitation makes him have to fight that much harder in order to escape with Aang. That fight probably would’ve been over more quickly and easily if Zuko was firebending. But if he then showed up home claiming he captured the avatar, everyone would piece together he got him from Zhao’s custody instead of on his own. If a rando man breaks Aang out, Zuko can just claim to have captured Aang afterwards

It's nice to put some back story to all the MTG cards I have from this show. This is a first time watch for me and I'm just enjoying the ride along side you.

Shane

yes platypus lay eggs, one of the few mammals that do! and they're also one of the few mammals that are poisonous.... their poison is said to be excruciating and side effects can last months or years..... it's fun being Australian 🤣..... and NO psychics are 100% scam artists that prey on people's suffering! that's why no psychic has ever won the million dollar prize if they can prove their powers! 🤷

kaliwali

Oh no! Sorry about that, I fixed it! It was set to private lol

kaliwali

Thank you!! I fixed it 😅

Shane

Aang breaking the tip off of the spear, that's our boy.

BloodyBen

I can't wait for season two

Ben

I'm not sure I believe in fortune telling, but I've always wanted to go get my fortune read just because it seems like a fun experience to have :)

I appreciate you taking me down memory lane with these uploads. Zuko and Iroh are to this day two of the most brilliantly written characters in all of fiction in my opinion. The way that Iroh never gave up on his nephew, because he knows that there’s still deeply rooted kindness buried beneath this persona that has been created by desperation and pain is just so profoundly beautiful.

I have a mild obsession with the monotremes. Millions of species of animals lay eggs, from spiders to crocodiles to birds to fish. Thousands of species feed their young milk (all the mammals, including marsupials and monotremes). Of all of the species on the face of the earth, the ONLY ones to do both of those things are the 5 species of monotremes. Laying eggs, and also feeding their young with milk... makes the monotremes extremely special.

UTU49

What's the link for? Is it so that we could also watch the video at YouTube?

Dude Longcouch

It's the sync version for people who prefer watching their own copy.

DreadPirateRob

Zuko is an honorable man who was betrayed by his entire family and civilization and that makes him a very angry young man... Maybe someday he will come to terms with that.
