I did not expect this little post-Alabasta filler arc to go this hard and be so freaking wholesome! 😭

After everything we just went through with Vivi and Crocodile and the rebellion and saying goodbye the most epic way.. It was really nice to just hang out with the Straw Hats for a bit & chill.I LOVED getting these little crew focused episodes and glimpses into everyone's past. These are the kind of episodes that made me fall in love with One Piece to begin with. It reminds me how completely different everyone's lives were before joining the Straw Hats but they all somehow ended up on this ship together living out their dreams. And even tho the huge battles and insane island adventures are amazing, it felt really nice to step back and just be in the memories of each Straw Hat for a moment.BUT USOPP THE ANGEL?! 😭Why did that get me all in the feels so baddd lolSomething about Usopp secretly doing something so genuinely kind and meaningful just broke me.He can be so ridiculous and dramatic 99% of the time. But One Piece has a way of sneaking in these moments that remind you just how BIG his heart is.Honestly, I'm really glad I didn't skip these. They weren't huge plot heavy episodes, but they gave me that burning passion for each character once again. Little pieces of their personalities, their histories, their dreams, the things they care about. Always enjoy your filler reactions! I do like how they named the book Rainbow Mist since it always showed Robin reading it for a couple of episodes. Also nice that Johnny and Yosaku had a backstory. You just never know who will show back up, whether it be cannon or filler which is why I like watching the fillers.

2026-10-07 16:00 Yeah having this intro shown on episode 116 kind of recontextualizes so much about every interaction we have seen with robin way too early. But also the entire suspense of episodes 129 and 130 is built around the question if vivi will join the straw hats or stay with her Kingdom and not seeing her here also spoils the ending of that subplot for no reason. This opening is egregious among one piece openings which are already spoiler heavy compared to intros of other anime. But the next one has just one shot that should not be there and does not really spoil anything. Compared to opening 5 which again spoils a lot. Its a mess so just listen to your viewers for now. It wont stay like that for the entire series. (Episode titles not included avoid these like the plague forever :D)

Totally had forgotten everything from these episodes but they're really fun. I really enjoy the more mundane and laid back moments with the crew.

I really miss these "just chillin" crew shenanigans. It that deepens our attachment to these characters and makes it feel more like a day to day journey. Good times. Re: the English dub, personally it's not for me. I feel like Luffy and Chopper's English voices are a little grating, and adjustments to the script are made to match the mouth flaps which can sometimes change the nuance, but your mileage may vary. Maybe you can try the three episode Goat Island arc in English dub and see how you feel about the voices? Though for the arc after that one, the Ruluka Island arc, my vote is for the original Japanese.

The spaces of no subtitles in the outro is because they are singing in English. Their logic is they don't need to do subtitles because they aren't translating anything. It's super lazy work and is another reason why taking to the high seas is a great decision in this day and age. Fansubs are just plain superior to official subtitles nine times out of ten

ok so in japanese a ship has the suffix -go attached to it to signify it's status as a ship. The merchant turned up in a ship called the "Escar". The Escar-go.

Wow these episodes were great. Im shocked Ive never seen them before. If anything I feel we need more episodes like this in the today One Piece story. Modern One Piece is great but I miss the grounded, slice of life from the old One Piece. Reacting in sub is perfect, never been a fan of the dub myself. Great react ty.

I love sub! and I noticed this same thing about a lot of english dub that i've watched so far after watching in sub. it just sounds so much more cheesy for some reason lol

I love the English dub because it was how I originally experienced One Piece but the original Japanese is obviously iconic! I also feel like the subtitles can often be a little clunky and phrase things in a way that's a little off, so while it's more accurate than the dub it can also take me out of it.

I feel like they try to stick to the tone of the Japanese va a little too closely, some of my fav dubs are ones that do their own thing.

Filler arcs are an interesting thing where some series do them well while others they can be grating, one piece has always been one I've more or less liked.
