WHAT IS HAPPENING?! I feel like these episodes took Chainsaw Man from chaotically ridiculous and fun to WHAT IN THE ACTUAL WORLD is this real??

First of all, the kiss... LOL I genuinely don't think I've ever been so disgusted and taken off guard by a kiss in my life 😷 Poor Denji just can't catch a break. All this boy wants is a little affection and somehow every experience he has with a woman becomes trauma. And Himeno???? Giiiiiirl. That entire night was just a disaster. But then Episode 8 happened and everything shifted completely.. I wasn't prepared for how FAST everything went down. It was genuinely terrifying. The sudden gun attacks, everyone getting shot, MAKIMA!? I was sitting there shook wondering if they really just killed off half the cast like that...And Himeno... Oh man. I wasn't expecting to get emotional over her so quickly. Especially after the whole thing with Denji lol. But watching her slowly sacrifice every part of herself to save Aki was heartbreaking. Especially knowing how much she deeply cared for him and how badly she wanted him to survive. But the fact that she literally gave EVERYTHING and it still wasn't enough?? Ugh.. My heart broke.I'm getting more and more intrigued with Makima tho 👀 I feel like there is SO much more to her. That entire shrine scene?? She's actually terrifying and I genuinely can't figure out what her true deal is yet..I think what I love the most about this anime is how unpredictable it has been.One minute I'm laughing at how unhinged everyone is. Honestly my biggest worry when you picked this was the kiss 🤣 honestly a wild scene to watch play out so early in your anime journey but that’s just how chainsaw man is, I do kind of respect tatsuki Fujimoto (the author) for writing what he wanted to write just a wild scene all the way around though.

Denji did only drink tea. However when Himeno puked in his mouth she also vomited up all the alcohol in her stomach. 🤢...That's how he got drunk. But sadly, R.I.P Himeno...😢. Lastly, I agree Makima is pretty terrifying but she is obviously keeping secrets.

LoL yess!! The vomit kiss! When I first saw it I was in disbelief and dry heaved! Enjoying your reaction! Btw you called Aki Jinshi in the intro too! 😄 I think ep 8 is one of my favorite episodes. It starts off so chill, like any morning after a party. Then it escalates to a massacre and we see our favorite characters get decimated so quickly and mercilessly. And like you said, the animation was top notch! But there something very disarming and yet sinister about Makima. And that's what draws us into the story even more!

Just for some slight context for why Denji swallowed the puke just cause the anime doesn't really explain his reasoning besides what Power said, but being a broke orphan Denji often had to eat awful food, so he trained to make himself swallow whatever nasty food he ate on instinct just to survive, as Power put it "anything remotely nutritious".

Okay, I just watched your intro. I've only watched the intro, but I just have one thing to say about your realization about the depth that anime can possess, and that is Berserk. Berserk, Berserk you will love Berserk. 1997 show with the og susumu hirasawa soundtrack. Who knew the secret to effortlessly throwing up was to have someone puke in your mouth? That'll do it every time. You know, I'm wondering: how could Denji have gotten alcohol in his stomach? There's just no way.....

These episodes went wild. They ended up being a really good balance too. We had the funny, wacky stuff with them all drinking and then all hell broke loose after. Shame we only have 3 more episodes and then the movie. You loving how unserious Denji can be makes me feel like you would like One Punch Man as well. The outro song for episode 8 is by TK from Ling Tosite Sigure, he became one of my favourite artists that I listen to in day to day life that I found from anime. His opening for season one of Tokyo Ghoul is one of my personal favourite songs but he's done a few. On the topic of The Big Lebowski, I hope we didn't overhype it since it really is oddball. But with that said, I am very excited for that reaction later this week.

Denji wasn't drinking but when Arai was helping him puke his "trick" to helping his mom throw up was to give alcohol, so when Arai was helping Denji puke thats how he did it but in turn it made Denji super drunk

Be glad that the kiss was censored in the anime because it was not in the manga 🤮 Also, this is the first show you've watched that is animated by Mappa Studios. Generally, if they animated it, it's going to look incredible. Especially action.

Denji is 16 and unusually young to be a devil hunter. Himeno and Makima are both likely mid 20s at least so not good. It’s relevant information too since Himeno keeps calling him young or a minor. And also pretty crazy that no one stopped Himeno from bringing him home.

Yeah.. It's really upsetting that nobody tried to go get Denji after they saw Himeno taking him home. I talk about it in the outro but Denji has only been taken advantage of and his innocence taken in the worst ways. I feel horrible for him & it's a really dark theme in this show for sure.

For sure. You were definitely right to feel weird about the good boy comments. I like that the show gives her a sad death right after all this to make you feel conflicted. Even with the most sensitive topics it won’t give you a pure black and white. At best, we know Himeno wasn’t in a good place and now she’s gone too soon.

If in order to survive as a Devil Hunter you need to be batshit crazy, I feel like Kobeni (The nervous girl with the butcher knife) definitely will make the distance haha. Also, what that guy said at the end? Did Makima foresee this happening?! Im awe-struck but also terrified of her. Great react ty!

I remember watching this the first time and just being in stunned silence for episode 8-9. The scared knife wielding psycho is an absolute beast. I thought she was super weak but when she gets serious it’s terrifying.

Love your reaction, and I really hope you will start the comic after the movie (or even read something else from Fujimoto, my favurite is the one shot Good Bye Eri). Uh, Denji did actually melt the chainsaw face away in the first episode, just like the sword yakuza did in this episode actually.

I stopped watching this when it was airing after the vomit kiss episode, mostly due to how uncomfortable it was, but also I was moving and didn't have the mental space for it. But wow the show sure takes a turn after, I would have been so hooked! Makimas power is dope. But like you I'm wondering why she couldn't kill the two with powers. It also never occurred to me that bad guys can make a deal with the devil too. The plan was BRUTAL, to not just kill the hunters, but to do it in public, with guns, to generate maximum fear & power for the gun devil. I'm also so happy to hear talk about how wide the medium of anime is, I'd like to suggest the classic Cowboy Bebop if you wanted to further expand your view of what anime can encapsulate.
