Every week I'm looking at this show completely differently.Every character gets crazier and stranger. Every plot turn gets deeper and darker.I thought we were getting closer to solving the mystery, but somehow that was only the start?

Those poor kids at Ledoux's compound was hard to watch. And I understand why Marty did what he did. He's never been great at handling that anger. But I'm also sad that those guys died before Cohle could pick their brain apart. There's something bigger going on here. Those weren't the killers we were looking for..There's a Yellow King somewhere still lurking around.Rust continues to fascinate me. He's so consumed by the darkness of humanity but he seems like the only one to actually be willing to look it in the eye. I find that kinda beautiful and strangely poetic. He talks about life having no meaning but he is so determined to uncover this truth. Maybe it's giving him meaning. Maybe it's all he has left. I've been wondering why people on YouTube said "Another reactor to this, time is a flat circle" 😅 And these episodes finally answered that lol. I guess in some way I actually believe that, just in a more positive way. The way Rust looks at it is terrifying. Especially when you look at what happened to his own daughter, those kids at the compound, Marty... Marty just seems to keep making the same mistakes over and over while desperately wanting to believe he's a good husband, a good father, a good man. I wonder how much of his daughters' struggles are because of the instability they've had to grow up around. It's really tragic watching someone convince themselves they're doing what's best for their family only to end up being the very reason it all catches fire.AND MAGGIE. GIRL WHAT ARE YOU DOINGI understand she's reached a breaking point, but using Rust was just cruel. I lost a lot of respect for her in that moment not gonna lie. But now I finally understand why Rust and Marty had such a huge falling out. Haunted Houses.Everyone in this story seems to be haunted by something.Grief, guilt, betrayal, secrets buried so deep that they've almost convinced themselves they're gone.I can't wait to see how this show wraps up next week!See you all there 👀SYNC ALONG VERSION: https://youtu.be/2_jgcCknGs8

This show is crazy... Lets continue! 💪

Hey Kali what's the chance of doing a compilation of all your jumps scares from your shows and movies, they are amazing to watch

James Park

I support your harsh opinion of Martin to cheat on your wife and destroy your family and blame everyone else is asshole behaviour probably one of the worst things to do in a relationship to destroy that trust

Steve Mercier

And here is where the already spectacular show gets good...holy shit the next two episodes (holy shit all the episodes--these two episodes). One of the greatest seasons of television, plain and simple.

Just completed your E5 reaction. Awesome acting by Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey. I like some of the Marty dialogue (the older Marty in present time) in E5: "realize that the good years came and went" "life slipped through your fingers" "the future is behind you"

Naj

I kind of cut Maggie a little more slack than most people. It's a shitty move obviously, but she is a person that's been emotionally abused for 17 years at this point and causing this level of destruction is the only way she can see to escape it. She doesn't even trust herself to not forgive Marty in the future, she knows the only thing she can trust is the level of narcissism Marty has at that time. The actions of a truly broken and desperate individual.

Holy crap, I forgot Erin Moriarty played the older daughter in this. I mean I guess I didn't really know who she was at the time before she went on to be a lead in The Boys years later. There is something about the southern, backwoods, swampy, bayou setting that is so eerie so I get you being on edge even during the day scenes. Nothing gives me the heebie jeebies quite like it. Not haunted houses, graveyards...none of the standard "creepy" settings. With that said, and in regard to your comment of waiting for the show to get "scary"...I don't think it really does - at least not in a way it had to be a Halloween show, there are other true horror shows that would've been better. This show is unsettling, and psychological, and it's brilliant but it's not *that* scary. Sure everyone has their own thresholds, I admittedly have a higher threshold than most but this didn't *have* to be a Halloween show - I think that set certain expectations for you going in. It's funny how out of the gate this show wants you to think Rust is the messed up one with the way he talks, thinks, etc. But it's really everyone else, they're all kinda shitty and manipulative, covering shit up. P.S - Marty is a piece of shit and the people that gave you hell for giving him shit earlier I'll never understand lol

Mister Lou

Let's keep this train going!

"All my life I wanted to be near God. But the only nearness...? Silence." In a show full of lines that give me chills, that's lowkey one of the most chilling.

If the rest of the season you mark as crazy, well so far it has been a 6.5 on the 'holy shit scale' ...and about to go to a 10...and rapidly.... ...sooo...put a diaper on, your seat belt on, and your tray tables up...no spoilers But this show hears you say crazy and then says hold my beer...not a light show or a dull moment. Some of the best tv every made imo...but not for the faint hearted...

Anyone remember rust down payment joke on marty lol wow rust is even better then he thought

"He's so consumed by the darkness of humanity but he seems like the only one to actually be willing to look it in the eye." - best sentence you've ever written.

I was feeling super inspired by the emotions this series has me feeling! I'm so glad I watched this season 🔥

The Ring has the best one ever when the cat jumps up behind her !

The flat circle thing also shows up in quantum physics. Years back a scientist summed up the entire universe inside of a (relatively... heh) simple mathematical formula. However other scientists whilst proofing it were despondent after finding that the calculation does not account for time. Because if you are observing the universe outside of itself then time does not apply. This is the core of it. And you get it. We are born back into this same reality again and again, and ABSOLUTELY YES... if you spend these hours we have being a good person towards others without thought of recompense or reward, then yes... your life will not only be fulfilling, but very likely rewarding. Yes there will be the same old hurts again, and again. But who we are defines how we move on (or not) from these hurts. But what you said about circles branching off makes no sense in this model. Because if you approach a junction, metaphorical or otherwise then you will decide to either go left or right. For every decision, it WILL be made a certain way. Yet outside of time every decision that you ever make HAS been made. It therefore cannot be undone. The alternate theory which is just as valid, but a thousand times more scary is that when you hit this junction you choose both to go left AND right (and stay still, and turn around and go back the way you came. And for every molecule, every atom, every "decision" that anything ever makes, a new reality and a new space time continuum exists to account for that decision. Either is valid. One has been mathematically proven (although an alternate universe has also possibly been detected). Sweet dreams.

The thing about Rust saying we're all "Trapped" in an eternal loop that never ends and we never remember it, is, if that's true, it kind of doesn't matter? Like if I'm unaware and can't ever stop it, if it's that far beyond my control, then I should just do as you say and try to live a good life. But I think it speaks to Rusts obsessive nature that he can't help but despair at it. In that same vein I think you'd enjoy "everything everywhere and all at once" As for these episodes, man Marty is, uh, disappointing. You'd hope he'd learn after he lost them the first time. But I guess he never really did lose them, it was only a few months. Immediately sus as hell on the church guy, but then every megachurch guy is sus.

I like shows that reward intelligent thinking. More like this (will take your brain jogging) ; DEVS - TV series from Alex Garland about a cutting edge tech company. The less you know the better Annihilation - again Alex Garland, Nathalie Portman investigates something other worldly Ex-Machina - again from Alex Garland about birth of Ai WestWorld - 3xTV series about a theme park where you can go shoot Ai robots (and worse)

kaliwali

Oh yeah totally. What she did was awful, but I totally get and understand why she did it for sure. She was at wits end & put up with so much. Anyone would have snapped and honestly she held it together much better than I even would have

kaliwali

this is a good idea! someone over on youtube asked about it as well lol. I'll have to round up all the jumpscare moments 😅

kaliwali

I thought Marty would redeem himself at some point with the 'you're being too harsh on him' comments in the beginning both here and on YouTube. But now... How do people stick up for him? I truly don't understand and never will lol

James Park

My favourite is kick ass when you almost fell off your chair

Steve Mercier

It's interesting...I agree almost entirely with everything Rust says...but I empathize mostly with Marty. I think it's because Marty is so human, and so incredibly flawed. Flaws are universal. I sure as shit don't condone Marty's cheating, or his toxic masculinity--and I don't feel the need to defend him. Fuck him for what he's done. But Rust is a bit of a...well, he's a bit of a superhero. And Marty's a bit more real to me. So he gets my empathy. I think maybe I want to punch him in his face sometimes (and also, who the fuck would cheat on Michelle Monaghan? dumb ass). But anyway...after watching your reaction, and hearing your thoughts on Marty, I felt compelled to say this. Not to start some shit, or to disagree with you for the sake of disagreeing with you; and I'm certainly not saying Rust is bad or inhuman, or not awesome--he is. But I tend to gravitate towards flawed characters. They're usually the ones that say something about the rest of us. Anyway...just a thought.

I really like the very last shot in the 6th episode. The taillight represents the state of relationship between Marty and Rust. It was broken way back when they had a fight and Cohle yeeted Marty into the truck. And the taillight is still broken, yet it functions. There is still light coming from it. So, there's still hope.

Me

The girl Marty hooks up with is 25, she's not still underage. Maggie screwing Rust is definitely what Marty deserved but definitely not what Rust deserved. Pretty unforgivable, really. Also, everything Rust said to the baby killer is true. It was honest advice. Why is it considered bad?

Ray

It's Marty's fault that his daughter is acting out. He's a horrible father, husband and role model.

Ray

Rust fought such a good fight trying to resist Marty's wife. He really tried.

Ray

She didn't just want a divorce, she wanted Marty to have a taste of his own medicine.

Opticblasting3

You say "true" when Rust tells Marty "without me there is no you". While that is half correct, the other half of the fact is that without Marty there is no Rust as well. Remember nobody in the department likes Rust or cares what his opinions are on virtually anything. Especially the Major. The task force would have taken the case back in the day if Marty didn't keep pushing it back. The old captain even said it to Rust, "our bosses here dont want you at all. I dont want you. You are upright only by the grace of this man's reputation". Ppl forget that Marty is the one ppl in the department respect as he was already senior detective before Rust got there. So Marty is also 100 percent correct when he tells Rust "im the only one who has ever stuck up for you". Rust would not have gotten as far as he had without him. You see what happens in the latter half of episode 6 when Marty stops speaking up for Rust with their bosses...he immediately gets shut down. Rust is the leg man and gets the work done but he tends to forget Marty gives him the ground to stand on in the department. Once he loses Marty's backing...its pretty much over for him there.

I like the "Thing" reaction. There are a couple of good one

Arduran

I like Wood Harrelson better

Loving this series still! Can't wait for more! Also Random Thought. Played any new good games lately? I'm waiting for Zelda remake and GTA 6 right now
