SO MUCH HAPPENED IN THESE EPISODES 😭

I think what I love about Apothecary Diaries the most is that it really rewards you for paying attention to the smallest things bc wow. The Shrine of Choosing, the people from the West, the red/green colors, Fox Village, the hunting incident... IT'S LITERALLY ALL CONNECTED. We're not only dealing with poisons and secrets anymore.. This is becoming a full blown rebellion fueled by generations of resentment, mistreatment, and scars left by the previous Emperor 🔥And Shisui was actually Loulan this entire time!?!? I knew something was off about the bubbly insect-loving servant, but I thought she was just a cousin or something looking out for her family. But I think the even MORE interesting part is how complicated this now makes her seemingly genuine relationship with Maomao. I don't believe that every moment between them was a lie. Shisui/Loulan has been way too kind for that. And after seeing Loulan's mother? I feel like she is trapped in this blackness rather than believing in it. But there's also Suirei, Shenmei, this entire family tangled up in resentment. It feels like we're watching generations of pain turn into something poisonous and the people born into it are just left carrying the consequences.... And the Royal army is now coming for them all..And Jinshi.. 🥺 Watching him finally confront his true identity and weight of his family's history was honestly one of my favorite parts of this season so far. He's spent so much time gaslighting himself into being merely Jinshi the Eunich. But the world keeps pulling him back into who he is meant to truly be. It's beautiful in a way that Maomao's dissapearance has allowed Jinshi to realize how powerful he is.. And to use that power to find her 🤍Everything feels like it's bubbling up to something HUGE.A rebellion, a war, a stronghold.. The “big sis/little sis” thing is pretty normal in a lot of Asian cultures. For example, in Korean culture, girls will often call an older female friend “unnie” (older sister) and an older male friend “oppa” (older brother), while guys use “noona” for an older female friend and “hyung” for an older male friend. It’s kinda like calling a close family friend “Uncle,” or saying something like “son, I’ve been doing this since…” It doesn’t necessarily mean they’re literally family.

I speculated Shisui might be Loulan after finding out that Loulan was using her ladies-in-waiting to cover up. But I kinda didn't take my suspecion seriously for the same reason you had, the age. For some reason I thought she might be older. I was also fooled by her facade.

little detail not touched upon thats cute and funny but lakan's accounts are nearly empty because he threw such an extravagant wedding for i think a week or nearly a week when he got married. thats why his son came in and was trying to lower the cost of repairing the door, theyre nearing broke. tbf of jinshis mom not "sticking up for him" these are just rumors. like how can you just stop that? she can claim all day every day that he is her son and the emperors son but that doesnt just stop speculation. when you said "that gave me breath of the wild vibes" you were so right. i never thought about it that way but you were so right with the music, and the wheat there. it reminded me of kakariko village.

Not piecing together who Shisui was until Maomao said so made for a really great reaction though! Don't beat yourself up over it and the ending to ep20 still gives me goosebumps. To see Lakan on his knees, bowing and pleading to Jinshi, crazy!

I didn’t catch Shisui being Loulan until the ghost story episode where MaoMao mentions she looked familiar at a certain angle. The only other person who looked like that was Loulan when she was wearing her hair up, the eyes and hair color matched too. I felt so slow I didn’t catch onto it at that point, which I usually am pretty good at clocking stuff like that in anime but they made sure to show just enough/not enough of concubine Loulan that she becomes an afterthought compared to everyone else. It’s why I love the series so much, and I can’t wait for you to finish the finale!

Once you’re caught up and you start season three, you should totally go to the theaters to watch the movie. There is nothing wrong with doing reaction video to something you’ve already seen. Watching apothecary diaries Demon slayer or whatever movie. You should enjoy going to the theaters as well with your friends. Regardless, we will continue to support your channel. Anime brings out the best in all of us.

It was amazing seeing your reaction to the loulan/shisui reveal! Back then when I was watching the season I was completely fooled by her, so don't beat yourself for not catching it. I mean you almost did! back in the ghost stories episode you almost said it out loud, but the age does make her facade believable, and I think that's because Loulan dresses herself in such high fashion and wears heavy makeup, never says a word and always looks the other way. While shisui it's the complete opposite. Anyways, excited for next week!

Once you've read enough manga and/or watched enough anime, you start to notice a lot of narrative structures or details (eye and hair color for example) that tend to carry over to similar stories or styles. So don't fret about not figuring it out earlier, it made for a great reaction, and the writers are doing an incredible job at making you second guessing (although i was sure you were going to get it with the snake, I blame the horror movies and lack of sleep 😂).

Lakan going off on Jinshi was 100% justified, and honestly he held back. Maomao nearly died saving Jinshi at the end of season one, and now that she's the one in danger, he's stuck behind a desk? Lakan doesn't care about palace rumors. He just wants his daughter back, and he knows Jinshi has the power to make it happen. All that "I'll do whatever it takes" talk, and Lakan saw right through it. Jinshi was playing it safe. Time to stop being Jinshi and start acting like the moon prince and help me save my daughter

I'm going to be honest the first two times I tried to watch Apothecary Diaries I couldn't make it past 5 episodes for whatever reason, but after seeing it through the reaction videos I enjoy the series now and highkey just want to already see what happens in the next batch of episodes 😭😭 As for the Loulan reveal, I pieced it together around the time Maomao mentioned "Concubine Loulan, that's the only one I'm not close to" with the ice cart situation. I figured there's no way they'd wait so long to establish something with the fourth concubine and that she probably has already played a role in surrounding events and given Maomao's comments about how Shisui was well-versed regarding court affairs alongside her similar appearance + a few other things, I had a feeling. The reveal still surprised me though 😭
