A NEW ADVENTURE HAS BEGUN 🔥

I walked into this knowing ZERO about what I was getting myself into which is honestly my favorite way to start anything new. I am so excited to see what all the hype (and hate lol) is about!

Three episodes in, I'm already really intrigued. I love the darker supernatural atmosphere, the ambiance, the music, the unexpected humor, the whole concept of curses being born from negative human emotions. Honestly, I believe in this stuff fully lol. Plus the animation and fight choreography is AMAZING so far!

Yuji is already a super fun and interesting main character to me. He's this crazy athletic and kindhearted kid who just wants to help people. But then he's swallowing a cursed finger and sharing his body with an extremely dangerous existence?? Sir?? His grandfather's final wish really does feel like a curse after he did all of that for a couple of people he just met a few months ago. I'm already sensing his tragedy of being willing to save everyone else, but what about himself??

And GOJO. I love this man already. He's so unserious but apparently ridiculously powerful? He casually dodges the King of Curse's attacks like it's absolutely nothing. I love his energy and I'm really curious to learn more about him.

Then we meet the third in our trio of first years at Jujutsu High with Nobara 🔥 I love how different their personalities are already. Megumi seems like he is so reserved and experienced, Yuji is giving me Denji vibes lol, and Nobara came in with literally ALL of the attitude. But she also has a softer side to her as well tho with Soari and why leaving her village meant so much to her. I like that these characters all have their own personal reasons for being here. And now I'm really curious about Fushiguro's...

So my biggest questions so far:
- Why is Yuji so strong??? Was he born this way or is he different??
- How can he suppress Sukuna? Can that be a blessing or a curse in the future?
- How powerful is Gojo reaaaaally? Is he blind or is that blindfold a choice?
- How does cursed energy really work? What are the different techniques to harness it??
- Is there REALLY no other way for Yuji to survive? Can't he just 'never find the last finger' and keep living his life? Couldn't he just suppress Sukuna forever?

We're only three episodes in and I'm loving where this story is taking us already. I have a growing list of questions and I'm excited to know more about this world, about curses, about Jujutsu!

People will always debate their favorite animes, whether it’s Demon slayer one piece, solo leveling. At the end of the day we should just enjoy these amazing animes that we get to watch and read. We can always debate. Let’s just enjoy the ride.

It is my first time watching (though I was spoiled by the manga ages ago); I was going to start this last December, but then I found Kali's YT channel, and since I thought she would watch JJK someday, I waited, and THE DAY HAS COME!!! (I'm glad I did cause I discovered so many good show besides Frieren and Demon Slayer here, omg I'm so excited!)

I'm excited to rewatch this with you! There will be a few key episodes where i'm SUPER looking forward to see your reaction. Your question in the write up of "- How does cursed energy really work? What are the different techniques to harness it??" is something that I have always wondered throughout during my first watch... and never really got or understood. So maybe the rewatch will being some clarity for me! BTW, senpai is a respectful way to address an upperclassmen or your senior in school!

Third, I'm glad you went with a more light-hearted movie for your conclusion of spooky vibes. I honestly regret recommending The Mist, that movie has the darkest ending to a film I've ever seen. It traumatized Popcorn in Bed and Funny Lil Gal among others recently and I'm relieved you didn't have to go through that. I hope you'll have a more balanced reaction to this show. The show certainly has issues but the fans like to treat it as some unparalleled monster, and it's not. It's treated with extremelyyy high praise, but it lies between good and great, certainly not past great.

"He's built different" *triggered in Edgerunners* lol Jokes aside, this seems like a fun one. Anime that is a bit more mature with the blood and stuff tend to be more my style (though as I've said, not exclusively). But add in some supernatural stuff with some lovable, goofy characters and normally it's worth a watch for me. Looking forward to the rest of the episodes. ...i may have to go binge watch the show and do a rewatch along with you

I mean for some one who is new to anime this is definitely good enough to watch . Though if you have seen a good enough animes this show is pretty genric along with questionable decision making in the back half.

Not sure why anyone would feel so strongly about you not watching it. In my opinion, the animation alone is a good enough reason to check it out even if the story doesn’t resonate with you. Especially as the seasons progress.

It's animated by mappa whom is said to be the best action animators. Some of the shows they also have made include Chainsaw man, Attack on titan final season, Vinland saga season 2 and Hells paradise. Would personally recommend you to watch Hells paradise.

honestly there's not a single character who I've seen where i thought "that's a lame power".... you're going to absolutely love so many characters! you do get A LOT of lore so it's good to see you take your time and go back of you need! I'm so hyped!

The bones in ashes scene is a Japanese custom for cremation. You collect the bones after cremation and place them in the urn. As for people telling you not to watch this show - it's probably because it's mainstream and targeted at the biggest audience - teenage boys.

To elaborate on the senpai part. It's not JUST in a school setting, though that is one you will see more often than most in anime since a that's one of the more common settings in anime. Senpai can also be for someone who's simply older or like a coworker who's been there longer. The way I've always explained it is someone who has more experience in whatever your relationship is centered around (school, work, life, etc.).

JJk as your next shounen pick is really interesting right after chainsaw man. Two manga that released the same year both about a boy possessed by a devil/curse joining a team with an emo dude with a sword and a hothead badass woman. Lead by a strong but aloof/mysterious and frightening leader. Looking after fragments from a powerful entity (Gun devil, Sukuna) Both have a universally beloved movies at the end of the first season and Manga endings that were equally hated by both fandoms. But even though premise and structure seem similar, both autors have completely different messages they want to convey. Really exited to see how you will like this after loving Chainsaw Man so much.

it’s one of my favorite anime’s and a show that i would stop watching everything else for, if new episodes were airing… so idk why some people were not wanting you to see it 😅 i think you’ll enjoy it. it’s solid and the animation just gets better and better. you’ll also see why Gojo is such a fan favorite 😁

Yeah I think you'll definitly need notes for the show. They can become handy in 2nd and 3rd season where there's lots of lore dump regarding names and techniques.

Most of the paper things you see why the so called glyphs are sealing talismans as in the western mythology not just anime but in Chinese and Japanese mythology there have been a lot of gods and demons sealed with paper sealing talismans from many different sources just an fyi

I think the mixed signals are because the show does some things really well and on some things it drops the ball. I don't want to say anything that would give spoilers or set expectations too hard. I myself found it frustrating. Sometimes loving it sometimes feeling like it loses focus for no reason. But overall I think it is a great Anime, so I hope you will enjoy it.

And you never take (or give) food to other from chopsticks to chopsticks at the table when eating. My colleagues were quick to explain me why when I’ve worked there: after crematory, if there are more family members, they do transfer the bones from their chopsticks to the next family member’s chopsticks, until the one putting it in the urn. So never do that at dinner, put it in a plate. Japanese people often live as shintoist, but also often do the « end of life » ceremony as Buddhism, I think it is to hope for a good afterlife for the deceased ones.

I remember watching this when it aired way back when and while there wasn't really anything in particular that I disliked about it, it also didn't grip me enough to really care at all when a second season eventually came around some years later. So I'm curious to not only watch season 1 for the first time in 6 years, but also watch season 2 and 3 for the first time period.

I haven't been keeping up with much of the anime lately (almost 100% due to time constraints; the Dude has been busy lately!) but this is one of my brother's favorite shows and he talks about it all the time, so I definitely need to make time to squeeze this one in... let's go!

Personally I think the big divide is because JJK is like every generic shonen trope mashed into one. BUT it does those generic tropes very well for the most part. For some people this doesn't really matter and it being generic is too much of a turn off.

I’m so excited to see you care for our boy yuji the GOAT that all young men should aspire to be. Strong and masculine but caring and kind even if a little dumb at times. It resonates throughout the show and I find myself looking forward to his small acts of kindness

I’d argue that JJK wouldn’t get this extreme amount of hype, if it wasn’t so visually stunning (just like Demon Slayer) and if it hadn’t repeatedly broken the internet with thirst traps like Gojo. 🤣 Still a very good show though - Just can’t compete with truly great ones in my opinion. *cough* Like Attack on Titan *cough*
