AND SO WE BEGIN 🔥
I've been holding off on this one for so long because I really didn't think I'd be into it after hearing about the incest & sexual themes. And we're only 2 episodes in and I'm already realizing why all the warnings kept me away for so long LOL hooooly

But honestly.. I'm willing to overlook it for this incredible world, amazing music and these characters already bc oh my goodness. I love when a story makes me feel like I've stepped into a world that existed long before I got there. Already lived in & lore just ready to be explained. I felt that way after watching the first LoTR film & I'm feeling the same way immediately after just these first two episodes here. The castles, the family names, the history beneath every conversation. There's already SO much to take in and I'm loving it 🙀

The Stark family definitely has my heart so far. There's something about Winterfell that feels like home already, especially after the Lannisters arrived with their secrets and drama and bad attitudes and yeah, incest 🤮 Ned's sense of honor is STRONG. The warmth of his family and love they have for each other has me growing immediately attached to all of them. Quirks and all.

And BRAN. That poor boy! Two episodes in and he's already being flung from a window after accidentally witnessing the most disgusting peep show.. The Lannisters must PAY.

Then there's Daenerys and the tragedy of her story. Her circumstances are heartbreaking to watch. There's something about her that has me hoping she can find strength and purpose outside of what everyone else expects and demands from her.

I love that these first two episodes opened the door to so much already. An entire world ready to be explored. One where everyone has a past, everyone wants something, every decision carries so much weight. I'm still learning the houses and the names and the relationships (names are always hard with me you guys know lol). But I love that I have so much to discover and a reason to buy yet another notebook to fill with notes and thoughts as we move through this series!

Winter is coming & I can't wait to find out what that actually means LOL

Not sure if its already been mentioned but this show reaction is notorious for getting spoilers over on youtube, so I would preface each video by saying "please no spoilers of any kind". They like to say prepare for x episode and x thing and x character which can take away from the story and alter expectations. So just be weary of youtube comments and if you have a mod over there, they could delete comments before you check them out!

Oh oh oh another thing...I know you were looking for it with ATLA Season 2 opener and as far as I can remember you did NOT watch any of the intro monologue repeat, but the areas of the map DO change for EVERY single episode in GoT (even if it's -small- baby potato details 😜) but yeah, it IS worthwhile to listen to the song every episode and pay attention to the world unfolding for the episode (aside from it just being a banger hahaha).

2026-11-07 19:00 The reason the words of House Stark are Winter is Coming. In this world the seasons last for years and there's no rhyme or reason as to how many years the season may last. A year's long winter means mass starvation and death. So being the Lords of the Kingdom of the North requires a special kind of people There are so many characters and they'll keep adding more all the time. It's a huge world filled with locations, cultures, languages and religions. Plus so much important history that they guve you a smidgen at a time. People can be brutal to reactors for missing important information but it's basically impossible to catch it all in a first watch through Just enjoy the show and do what you do. Can't wait to see you continue this journey

George RR Martin is entranced by the nature of history, studying it, modifying it a good deal, turning it up to 11 and then adding supernatural elements. Oddly enough, half the crazed twisted or deplorable actions executed in his world of Westeros and Essos come from real life things. I think if you keep in mind the nature of how history is often written by the victors, that may give you some grace and better understanding of how to “survive” this series. Best of luck Kali!! 🗡️❄️

Great reaction, as always! I think you'll enjoy the show regardless of some of the more extreme scenes. The DVD release came with extras that were various characters from the show telling some of the history of this world, which would fill a lot of gaps if you can find them on YT without spoiling...but the show does a decent job of describing the most pertinent parts that are crucial to the plot. Hope you have fun on this journey...I'm looking forward to being along for the ride! 🙂

Yeah this show does not shy away from nudity or vulgarity so if you didn't grow up with it or even if you did, it can be a lot - it's going to get more extreme as the seasons go on too. You're going to see a lot of a lot of people. This show is so strange, I really did/do enjoy it and yet I've not really rewatched it via reaction channels for some reason. There was one channel I started to but didn't end up finishing it alongside them - no idea why. So I look forward to properly rewatching it finally here. Can't believe it's been 7 years since it ended though - I feel so old. Still one of the best intros to a show, it's ever evolving with the plot too. There are actually loads of people in this show you've seen elsewhere, some you may not even recognize. Kit Harington (Jon Snow) had a role in Eternals that unfortunately seems like it's lead to nothing. Funny enough, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) was also in Kingdom Of Heaven. Wasn't sure if you recognized Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) or not, she was Jean Grey in the later X-Men movies. Then you have Mark Addy (Robert Baratheon) was one of the friends in A Knight's Tale. There is also Jack Gleeson (Joffrey Baratheon) was the little boy in Batman Begins. And that's just from episode one.

The sex/nudity happens less and less as the show progresses. I think the showrunners used it to initially pull people in, but eventually realized the story was strong enough that it was unnecessary to have it in so much. Robert the king's last name is Baratheon which was mentioned. Arya is indeed pronounced Air-e-ah. Watch the intro to learn the world's geography. It will change, showing only those locales which will be seen in that episode. Don't worry about remembering all the names, no one can after only a couple episodes. You will soon know them all very well. Have fun !

Great reaction. But I wish you'd never skip the intro. Please? It's so important to memorize the map, and it's one of the greatest intros ever. I think most people watch it everytime ❤ Please think about it, they did such a great job with the intro. Even though in the books the map is so much more detailed. I read them several times and I still looked at that map all the time 😂

My wife was very similar back during the GoT heyday. I was obsessed and got my best friend into it, but she was put off by the graphic nature. A few years later, after she had been working as a nurse for awhile, and seen some real life stuff that I can't imagine, she decided to watch it with me and became almost more obsessed than I was!

At least you got through the incest. My parents tried watching it once, but they'd had enough after about the fourth or fifth beheading. I'm not sure if they even finished the first episode. Edit: Ned mentioned Robert Baratheon's surname in the first episode when he beheads the Night's Watch deserter. I'm not gonna recite the whole spiel, but it begins, "In the name of Robert of the House Baratheon, first of his name."

I can't imagine watching this for the first time at 2 episodes a week, I'd go mad wanting to know what happens next. Also with the amount of characters, family trees and place names to learn it might help to write some down on a notepad or something if you struggle with that.

Between each season there are these roughly hour long videos for each season called "Histories and Lore" they would be a welcome addition if you are up for it they give you tons of information of different houses and expand on events on mentioned in passing in the show. lots of lore that the show had to cut from being explored on screen to keep the story more on pace

For a show this big, I suggest a version with a timestamp for easy line up...you will get more internet traffic, especially the deeper you get into this show...and the intro doesn't always pop where you think it will nor at the start...additionally compounded if you have decided to put 2 episodes in one video instead of splitting it up...even if you watch and drop them back to back...having an accurate word clock and rolling timestamp underneath does help smooth some issues...just a suggestion. I don't wanna step on toes and I apologize if I am out of line, not trying to tell you how to run your channel. I appreciate your content...

thankfully you don't see too much graphic incest but it is a common theme! I wouldn't worry too much about names, the are said A LOT! so you'll catch on! Ned Stark (and Starks in general) is known for being the epitome of honour and loyalty so imagine being his wife and having his infidelity in your face every single day! she has every right to be bitter but she takes it out in Jon instead of Ned! this show is like an R rated LOTR just without the hobbits and elves! another banger choice!

It's not crucial to watch the intro map, but the map in the intro changes each episode to highlight places relevant to that episode. Also, watching the map helps to gain a feel for distance. And direction (e.g., Winterfell is north of King's Landing, and the Wall is north of Winterfell).

You are doing well assimilating info. Takes several episodes and is ongoing. You will learn and retain the names. Even if you've just watched the previous episode, I suggest to watch previously on at the beginning of each episode = a good summary (reinforces) and provides context. Helps to assimilate week in/week out the massive amount of info you are inundated with.

I was always under the impression that the screen being pretty visible (yes barely but still not blurred at all) was enough to keep things lined up pretty smoothly! Based on the YT numbers most people just watch the copy here vs doing the sync along version, so that's why the timestamps/extra bits aren't over there. But I was always told that the transparency and not being blurred was good enough to keep things going smoothly!

Halleluya ... Something to put your teeth in... And possibly break them as you grind them in horror and amazement. As for the sexual stuff ... Don't let it dissuade you in the least. It is what it is and really it's kind of unavoidable in the genre of world portrayed. It would not feel nearly as realistic otherwise.

Kali, Above all else, you have to be patient with Game of Thrones. All of the House names on this show WILL be revealed, more than once. As a matter of fact, House names on this show will be mentioned to your heart's content. Exercising patience on this show is the key. Do not allow yourself to be spoiled by spoilers. Resist the urge to look up actors' names. Do not watch any lore or YouTube videos. Lastly, when this show came out in 2011, a majority of the audience hadn't read the GOT books, so we had to rely on the TV show to provide us with the information. RESIST spoilers!
