Y'ALL 🔥 WHAT A VIBE
Disclaimer: This movie had the classic LOUD action scenes and super LOW dialogue scenes. I tried to balance it the best I could but it's gonna be one you turn up/down constantly! Keep the clicker nearby lol.
I went into this so blind thinking I was going to get Fantastic 4 2005 level content.
But OH MY GOD. I loved every second!!!
You all know how much I love those 90s vibes and this?? Immaculate.
The atmosphere, the outfits, the hairstyles, the action, THE MUSIC
I already have this soundtrack saved on my Spotify 🤣
From the blood rave & Blade's first appearance, I just knew that it was gonna be a wild ride
This whole entire movie was an EXPERIENCE
The thing is.. This movie had every opportunity to be so corny lol. We're talking vampires, blood baths, a BLOOD GOD, F-bombs flying left and right, and some of the most outrageous moves and one liners I've ever heard. But somehow... It all just worked so well!? Nothing felt out of place. No one was over acting. It knew exactly what kind of movie it wanted to be and fully committed to every bit of it and I loved that.
Wesley Snipes? I've never seen him before but he was incredible as Blade!
The confidence, the attitude, the fight choreography.
The way he could deliver the most ridiculous lines with a completely straight face
and make it sound like the coolest thing I've ever heard? FIRE.
And Stephen Dorff as Deacon Frost?? Equally as brilliant.
He brought such a fun, chaotic energy to the movie.
They both made these characters feel so effortlessly cool without ever making the story feel like a joke.
And under all the style & action, I genuinely loved Blade's story too. Tragic how he came into this world and the fact that he spent his whole life fighting the very thing that's a part of him. And his mother??? EXCUSE ME 😱 That twist actually got me & I couldn't help but be flooded with "your mom" jokes for a minute lol. But then it became super heartbreaking to see how she never had an ounce of empathy or feeling for her son. It was so cold & disturbing.
I know I've already written so much raving about this movie but.. We gotta at least address the fight choreography before I sign off. The sword fighting was SO GOOD. The martial arts, the slow motion shots, the MUSIC kicking in at just the right moments. It was so ridiculously hype. Everything about this movie had style.
I think I just loved that this never tried to be anything other than what it was.
It was dark, bloody, over the top, funny, tragic, and unapologetically 90s.
I LOVE BLADE. I love his story. I love this world.
I can't wait to see why this one was a prerequisite to Wolverine/Deadpool when I get there!
Thank you all for hanging out!
Should I watch the next ones or should this be the only one from the trilogy I check out?? Lmk!
