Are there any movies or any media type that would be vastly harder to consume because of how much you’ve changed over time?

I would say "Dear Zachary" is harder to watch now. I saw it years ago and it really got to me but now that I have a daughter, I can't imagine ever watching it again. I tried last year and it destroyed me.

the mario music is a nice touch

Joshua Levine

Same with me with Bridge To Taribithia... Having daughters, I could NEVER watch that again. Although, I didn't like it the first time, so...

I don't think I could watch Ghost or Fish Called Wanda... My mom and I used to quote those 2 all the time as jokes (particularly, "don't call me stupid!" and "damn, baby, what did you do to your hair!? it's autumn sunrise!" She has dementia now and doesn't remember who I am. Watching either of those movies night break me and I don't have the bandwidth to recover from that trauma right now.

I tried watching Superbad with a female friend of mine and realised it’s not the same movie I imagined it was。

I always find it hilarious when the operator makes a joke/pun and it completely misses the boys! He doesn't go for it again and I can feel him shrug through my phone! I feel like I wish I could like, nod at the operator, "Damn". Lol I want him to know I heard it in the moment. It happens a lot in katamari. Stand Proud Pun King 👑 you're killing it

I never understood why they made us read that in grade school. I think the moral of the story was "life sucks"

Boca ~ Autumn

great episode, i just wish the underground theme didnt give me anxiety. as for media i cant watch anymore, I used to be into cringe comedy, but now it just hurts me.

other common sounds that should be replaced with a media specific alternate: Emergency vehicle sirens and Phone alert/default alarm.

I can't watch shounen anime like Fairy Tail anymore. I need more complexety in my shows.

Love the Butt Slam on the big bug at the end. That was the most satisfying OHKO I've seen in a while.

John Duell

It’s not a movie or media but I don’t set off fireworks anymore. I used to get bunch every year to set off for my grandma. The year after she died when I tried setting off a bunch I had a massive weeping cry fit come over me. So I don’t do that anymore.

QOTD: Video games. Time investment is brutal. Not for all games. Really just for the really good ones.

Becoming a dad has made me feel things so incredibly differently just because now the passage of time and change is made so apparent. Your kids grow RAPIDLY and all of a sudden you’re older. Certain things I listen to or watch make me think of my life or my family in ways I didn’t usually think of those things back in the day.

QOTD: Reading books. I know Alex mentioned last episode that he doesn't think people listening to books is the same, but with my work schedule and gaming hobby I don't have time to sit and read a book. So I listen to books on audible while I'm working, eating lunch, or driving to/from work. It's not exactly the same as reading it (I miss the smell of a good paperback), but I still appreciate it just as much. EDIT: After watching the episode, I love how much I misunderstood the the question on the post.

Ted - that "dam!" at the end was underappreciated

Saurdaux

Ted with the Overlord reference at 22:47!

Joseph Torres

Coz was recorded as used first in 1708!

Ceth Reitsch

Hey wait a minute, but it's used in Romeo and Juliet! Shakespeare wrote that in the early 1500s! Act 1 Scene 5, Capulet guy to Tybalt: "Content thee, gentle coz, let him alone."

Joseph Torres

Nice! I was just checking for usage, maybe the doc I was looking at only scaled back 300 years.

I've stopped recommending things I enjoy under phrases like "Oh YOU'LL love this" or "I think YOU'D enjoy X or Y." I now instead always correct myself and say things closer to "I really enjoyed my time with X or Y." I find more people are willing to engage with things I like if I express that I enjoy them and not put it under the umbrella of making people feel like they're being told to enjoy something.

Hook was an ex’s stoner movie. She would get stupid high and we’d watch it together. Hadn’t thought of that in like 10 years, holy shit
