I believe the lore implication is Gerudo women marry/copulate with Hylians, and every once in a while, a boy is born. No shit, I've actually been to that creation museum! Once as a True Believer (tm) since I was raised as a fundamentalist christian and once after I lost my religion. The second time I went was in a student group for one of my college courses "Creation vs Evolution" where we examined the "logic" behind creationist arguments and then the evolutionary facts that proved most of that stuff wrong. We actually got to have a short Q&A with Ken Ham and it went about as well as you'd expect. I don't know how we scored that gig, cause he definitely didn't realize he was up against an entire class of Evolution majors haha. We ended up getting escorted out midway through lol

I always figured the Gerudo were more a culture than a race. All Gerudo are Hylian, but not all return to their mother's home and integrate with the community she was raised in. It's possibly less that men are seldom born to Gerudo women, and more that men are hardly raised as Gerudo in the village. Ganondorf is a rare case of a boy born into the village who didn't live with his father.
