Where is the Who that hunted and butchered the roast beast?

I think Alex is talking about how open world games, and many others now, completely oversaturate the screen with objective icons and if that's it I 100% agree. I tend to turn off most HUD elements when I play games, they give too much info, and it kills some of the fun for me. I swear Ubisoft games 75% of the screen is HUD.

Good to see Mario Mario spend some time in the sewer, like a plumber should.

Alex always has good points but he struggles to explain them. No shade

I think it's a good thing that assistance options are available but I think the choice to turn them on/set when they offer assistance needs to be at the start of the game rather than as a reaction to poor performance.

Is "What's his nuts" a midwest only thing? It's pretty common where I live.

BRETT you should check out Jurassic World: Aftermath. It literally is Jurassic Park Alien Isolation!

Steve Moore

Mario needs a fire flower power up 😜

I mean sure, I understand how it's "annoying" when a game tells you "HEY, here's your chance to make the game easier since you're sucking!" but honestly, that's NECESSARY. That's built in for players who aren't savvy with videogames, players who wouldn't know how to find the difficulty setting, or might not even KNOW it exists. I like challenges, but I can stomach a game telling me "hey you're doing very poorly" just knowing that it's going to help other 10 kids who are struggling to have fun.

hearing Alex&Brett say "I feel like it's very stressful if you don't just say 'i'm gonna deal with it, i'm gonna just have it.' - Tank it." has been eye opening for me, especially after getting a chronic illness diagnosis. so thanks!

I feel like the compromise for the mercy rule offers would be to add an extra setting to disable those from being offered. Leave it on by default, but it feels slightly discouraging to me to get offered that so I would happily turn it off if allowed.

Boring Conversation Anyway

I feel the need for a Jurassic Park horror game, velociraptors gave me nightmares as a kid. That kitchen scene in the first movie still can set me on edge. There is sort of a Jurassic Park horror game that's exclusive to VR. It's pretty decent but has the cell-shaded comic graphics that sort of come with having a weaker mobile chip to process it. It's called Jurassic World Aftermath if anyone is curious, has 2 parts. It is legitimately scary. Akin to Alien Isolation with raptors.... sort of horror/survival where you have to hide from the dinos.

Assassins creed 1 takes place in 1190 ish which is during the middle ages. In the renaissance on the other hand firearms already start to exist.

I think the whole fricken chicken anxiety problem caused by open world sandbox games could be solved by never telling us about it. Don't show those things as icons on the map. Heck dont even reveal the whole map at all. Keep the main objectives of the plot but don't shout "THERE IS CONTENT OVER THERE!" at me. Sorry for shouting.

MuttBunch

Every time I whiff in a fighting game, I hear Brett & Alex saying "whiff" in my head.

I’d eat the biggest porterhouse they sell at Steak America.

The in-game helpers are also a useful accessibility tool. I think that's probably the main reason they exist. I agree that there should be a way to turn it off entirely, and a lot of games do have robust accessibility menus to toggle a lot of different difficulty options at any time rather than just having a simple Easy -> Medium -> Hard thing at the beginning.

I feel "towers that reveal vast swathes of the map" delete the fun of exploration and discovery.

UnorthoD3X

Absolutely. Maps kinda ruin the adventure, exploration and novelty of discovery. It becomes the theme park dilemma. "I know what is here and I want to do/see more than what I have time/energy/money for."

I was so scared by the JP raptors when I was a kid, and it shattered my whole worldview when I saw that real velociraptors basically looked like little, mean turkeys.
