This morning my office computer would not boot. For much of the day I've been troubleshooting, and I don't think I'm close to a solution. I'm not sure how long this is going to take to be resolved, so I'm letting you all know that right now I'm unable to work.

I'll keep researching and contacting support people, and hopefully this won't take longer than a couple of days. Thanks for your patience. 🙇‍♂️

Do you need data recovery? I literally do that.

Anony mouse

I’m a cloud engineer I could probably get you up and running in 15 minutes

Pembroke

Time to get a backup tablet!

Monkeyspirit

Good luck Meesh! Also prime name for a naughty pic too xD

Ryan McNally

No worries, computers suck. Hopefully it’s a minor issue and not a major time/cash sink!

Chloe Edmondson

Hope you get it sorted soon computers can be stressful 😣

Doc Holliday

Have you tried turning it off and back on?

Valdis

🤣🤣

Paige Hawthorn

Thanks for the heads up! I hope this will resolve soon. ❤️

Richard Awesome

Shit happens. Hopefully the solution is simple.

Atom

Yikes! Sorry about that.

Fibinochi

I hope you get it up and running my dude.

Michael

I just finished a class and passed the test to earn an IT certification. If you need help, I don't mind messaging back and forth to help.

Do NOT rush! Don’t worry about what you were hoping to get done on it. Slow down and move carefully. The top priority is data preservation/recovery. Step 1, check the date and health of your most recent backups. Step 2: remove any data disks and clone the system disk. Only then should you play around with system restore / recovery tools. If your OS and data files are on the same disk, the disk clone (low level image) is even more important. Make and prioritize a list of goals. (Typically it’s preserving data files and work product, then it’s saving all the installed SW and configuration info: applications, licenses, saved passwords, etc. Just making the hardware boot is easy — wipe the hard disk and reinstall the OS — but the resulting computer will be useless without the first two) Also make a list of available resources (backup disks, similar computers that are working, HW & SW tools, people you trust to help, scratch disks you can use, etc)

Fact free confidence is rarely helpful.

Oh shoot, I'm sorry to hear that. :( Hope you get it up and running again soon. Computer stuff is never fun to figure out.

Ari

If it doesn’t turn on at all, I’d give it a shot at changing out the CMOS battery as it might be dead, happened to me earlier this year and is cheaper to try out than buying a whole new PSU straight up.

Fallenaltair

I hope you able fix your computer.

Anony mouse

Yeah I am confident it’s my job. We don’t know anything about the system so I’m not going to give any “facts”, and trying to do that without debugging is less than worthless

H_R

Good luck to Meesh Computer : x !

Korfius

We can start a GoFundMe for memory/drives/GPU. Shit's so expensive muh gawd

Frostwind

Sucks that it happened, but just take it easy. If you have backups those will make things easier, and as long the HDD/SSD isn’t faulty there are forensic file recovery tools for recovering the files on them available, if that will be needed

Sawnesse

Have you tried checking to make sure everything's plugged in right? Maybe a cable came loose or something. Whatever it is, I hope it's fixed without too much stress!

You literally provided a wall of advice with absolutely no known facts which is honestly worse advice given a situation.

Nitrofox

Have you tried sacrificing a goat and dancing around the computer naked?

Anony mouse

I suspect meesh can afford computer parts
