That’s amazing! Thank you for reacting and the shout out! I didn’t know he had a music video for the song. And as far as I’ve noticed, is all the members do release their solo songs under stray kids. Stray Kids formed in 2017, and Deep End was released in 2022. In an interview he said he was scouted via Facebook to audition JYP Entertainment who he signed with at the age of 17. He is from Sydney, Australia. In another interview members of Stray Kids also said Felix can hit the lowest AND highest notes in the entire group.

Ah, I thought maybe I missed a whole music video somehow - this music video is fan made. There are clips in here from some of the other MVs / Trailers. The whole bus scene is right from the Oddinary trailer 😂 And "your eyes" is in there. It's very well done.

Savallion

The funniest thing for me will ALWAYS be that Felix did not even sing for his audition, he just did a freestyle dance 😂 they had no idea what they were getting.

Savallion

I am not an expert on Stray Kids history but here's what I know about Stray Kids' formation: - They WERE all trainees at JYP, they aren't really independent in the way that you are saying - The members were picked by Bang Chan, who had been a trainee for a very long time (7 years) and was given this chance to essentially build his group - They went through a competition show where they had to compete to join the group. Felix and Lee Know both were briefly eliminated but brought back "because of fan interest" though a lot of people think their elimination was solely to drum up DRAMA and they were never really in danger. Either way it was very real for the members, they were affected pretty hard by it and I think still harbor some resentment toward JYP (the boss guy who made the decision to eliminate them). - From there, they are still managed by JYP but they have a unique stance where they do all their own song-writing and producing, which I think is where you got the idea that they were independent from. - They got to JYP as trainees as different ages (bang chan was VERY young I want to say he was 13 when he started). As Anne says I think Felix was 17. He had a really brief trainee period, but also he looks VERY young in older videos. All of them have grown quite a lot since their debut. If you look at Changbin from 2018 compared to now he has made such a change and put on so much muscle he almost looks like a different person. - This IS all Felix. There are other songs where he sings in this higher / less gritty tone, such as Cover Me.

HAHA. Right?! I think that was an interview with Chris. Chris said he danced, sang, and played piano/guitar or something.

Savallion

No worries! Usually I would say go for a fan-made lyric video if there's no official music video but since this is an in English there's really no downside to seeing more Felix 😂 and it's pretty well done!

Savallion

Yeah there's a whole bunch of memes of people doing crazy stuff with the caption "this is what bang chan had to do for his JYP audition" That interview was so funny, I think it's also the one where they had to eat the fish sauce and also said their motto was "do it" (spoilers? probably, they are always spoiling things)

Sophie

I have to be honest this was not necessarily my favorite from the solo Songs when they first released them. But listening to it now I feel like I can appricate it much more😆

Sophie

Oh god I did a rewatch of the survival Show not too long ago and I was downright sobbing when LeeKnow and Felix where eliminiated. Its sooo hard to watch because you can just see how much it hurt all of them😢

Savallion

I haven't watched it because even the clips people put in shorts/compilations are WAY TOO SAD. "I'll never leave you behind" I'm already crying.

GEM

I spent the first few seconds of him going high laughing at the expressions on your face. Thank you for that laugh! Well, we did say (warn? Lol) that he has insane vocal range and we weren’t exaggerating, as you’ve now heard. The way Felix can play around with his voice (he does it casually in vlogs and other content too, often without warning and just to be funny if they’re playing games or joking around for example) is one of the fandom’s largest and most beloved amazements. Thank you for the reaction, really interesting and informative as always!

GEM

Also, if you wanted more deepness for that comparison of yours, he goes real deep in ”Victory song” and ”Side effects”. He also has another solo called ”Unfair” where he plays around with different tones more. That one has an official MV which is pretty cool

Libby

Victory song is one of my favorites and I think its also part of the Lollapalooza Setlist that Tims Plans to do a reaction to😃

GEM

I didn’t know there was Lollapalooza coming but now I’m excited! Are we looking at the song individually or taking a look at the whole concert? Either way, great! And yes, it’s one of my favourites too. But I like side effects as well, even though it’s a bit of an odd one, haha!

Libby

as far as I know it will be a full concert reaction😄

Sharon

All of this! I'm watching the survival show for the first time and just watched the episode where Lee Know got eliminated last night...bawling my eyes out it's just so heartbreaking! I haven't even gotten to Felix yet and I just know it's going to wreck me...

Sharon

You know when Time says "What is happening?!!" it's going to be good lol. If it gets two or more What is happening?!!s it's gonna be amazing. :rofl The more I listen to this song, the more I adore it. When it plays in the car my 10yo daughter always says "can we skip this one? It's too sad and makes me want to cry..." Yes baby, same, that's why I'm listening to it! XD I've been listening to Stray Kids' earlier songs and thought it was interesting that while Felix clearly has a lower voice in the first few songs, it's not until a little later that they really lean into it and start intentionally highlighting his deepest range.

Savallion

Good luck, be strong

P Ch

Both Felix of Stray Kids and Ken of SB19 are talented singers, no doubt. There’s just a different texture to their deep voice, and they may also be using different techniques. Ken’s bass sounds like it’s coming from a drum. Felix has a more husky windy texture. Can’t wait for your commentary! :)

Libby

I feel like they got so good at highlighting each memebers unique voice and tone in general. Hyunjin for example sounds sooo good to me in their newer songs🤭

Libby

Since you asked at the beginning I wanted to add that they did release all of these solo Songs under the straykids name. When you Look at spotify you will see that the Interpret of the Song is Straykids and only a "(Felix)" in the Title. They did that with all their stuff so far except for some Features and OST. In general they have done very little solo Songs anyway but that might change when some of them go into military Service

Sharon

Definitely have to agree with this! They are each so unique and wonderful and I love the way they all complement each other. 10 years ago I would have said I didn't like rap and now Han and Changbin's raps are some of my favorite parts!

GEM

Fun! Thank you! Using that version of Victory song for the comparison might be a bit hard though, seeing as Felix is so hyped at that point that he’s more screaming than focusing on nailing the tone, haha :)

Abby

Haha glad you read my comment😂 You put so much efford into learning the names it would be mean to not warn you about suddenly appearing extra members 😂😂 Also I think its amazing that you have your first Kpop Bias (the Kpop Term for favorite) with Felix 😆

Maria

Funny you mentioned Jackson Wang, as he and Got7 were also under JYP until 2021. So that might play a role in why the songs feel similar. Or it might be a coincidence. Skz were quite literally babies when they started out. Born between 1997-2001, joined JYPE mostly at ages 13-16, only Lee Know was 18 when he joined up, but he had been going to a dance academy for about 5 years, and part of a professional dance crew for 3 years by then. Chan, Changbin and Han formed 3racha somewhere in 2016, they released their first official songs in January 2017. You can find them on soundcloud and 3racha youtube (recommend checking those older songs out too someday, a few of them were later reworked into Skz songs). Then probably in the spring of 2017 Chan was tasked with forming the group that would later become Skz. From august-december 2017 they filmed the reality show, in January 2018 they released a mixtape with the songs they created during the show. On their debut date March 25th 2018 I.N., Seungmin, Felix and Han were 17, Hyunjin and Changbin 18, Lee Know 19, Bang Chan and Woojin were 20 (he was a few months older than Chan and left the group in October 2019)

André de Veer

I think he was inspired a bit by Bono's singing style, sometimes he started with his normal voice and reached then out to very high notes.

Kat

This song has such a beautiful resonance, it makes my brain silent.

Franzi

just since you were surprised about felix difference in voice there's also a few group songs where he is doing not so deep parts lol. One of them was that crazy that it had stays discussing wether it was him or leeknow to the point that bangchan mentioned it at their concert clarifying that it was indeed Felix. (Song: Cover me) If you want something with an MV Stray KIds( yes that's the song name also has an interesting felix part(the beginning of the song)!

tintin mauri

New member here. And I'm also Felix-biased but I still love them all.

tintin mauri

Felix once said during an interview, before hitting puberty he had a very high tone.
