Jada pop

That is nice

Jevon Kasitch

A very solid reaction to Chappell's cover here, and you hit all of the points in which she has improved and locked in on the piece. She really seemed to gain her focus on it after her duo with Nancy Wilson on it in her Summer NYC show. It was interesting to see Chappell's band back off a dot to let Nancy do the heavy playing. She did not give Barracuda a break in her sets. She did it a few times in '24 which you reviewed then went off tour. When she returned to touring in Europe in '25 Barracuda was there, and it's appeared in every show that she has done all year. Even when she's cut a few of her own pieces for time. As for new music, you won't be seeing much. Chappell has flat out indicated in several interviews, leading fan expectations with a deft hand, that she is not a speedy writer of music that she sees worthy of her releasing. And that we may need to wait two years or longer for CR2 the next album. She's on record of saying she is not going to rush it, not put pressure on herself to create things except when she is ready and feels it. This means that we'll be seeing very few new things in the year ahead. I and several other core fans wager she'll release a single in early first quarter '26. At some point after her Grammy appearance, and before she heads to Australia for her next tour on the second week of February. As she'll be rolling into the Lalapaloza festival circuit in South America in March there will be little free time in her schedule until the late Spring. So, we are guessing that she'll drop something in Mid to late January to maintain momentum. We also think she'll work 2 singles a year at best until the album is moving to her satisfaction. So she'll be light on new material for a good bit by her own choice about the sort of artist she is. The communities money is on "Read & Make Out" being the January single. But that is only our guess, and she may have a surprise up her sleeve. As always I'll keep you informed.
