Thanks for another video on SB19. I really enjoyed watching this reaction and analysis. Found it informative as well as very entertaining. To me, WHAT gives the theater feel. It also makes me feel very nationalistic. If I’m not mistaken, that first part of Pablo refers to the fact that, during the time they made this, they had just broken free of their old korean-owned company and has become self-managed. In WHAT, they were finally able to show who they are, with Pablo writing the music, Stell choreographing their dance, and Justin in charge of creative direction. They were also able to show their Filipino pride, which is actually very important to them. Still waiting for ILAW, but I don’t mind you taking your time getting there.I love all their songs anyway :) Why don’t you try a concert performance of theirs next. They have the QUIT live performance on their official channel. That was taken during their 2-day world tour kick-off concert at the Philippine arena, the biggest indoor arena in the world.

OMG, yay! What is my favorite song of theirs, I just held off from requesting it because I felt like I requested too many songs already, haha. Some trivia: * This is the first song in their discography that was fully composed by Pablo. Their earlier songs were composed by Koreans, Pablo just provided the lyrics. The difference in the sound and songwriting is very apparent if you compare to earlier songs like Go Up. * The creative director for this music video is Justin! It was the first of their videos that he was the creative director of. He graduated Multimedia Arts in college, and he's stated in interviews that his music career is for him also a means to pursue his main passion, which is directing/conceptualizing. * Stell was the choreographer for this! Actually Stell did most of their choreography for their earlier songs, which is amazing since he's also the main vocalist. Essentially this song is the start of them really taking creative control of their work. During the time What was released they were already doing the groundwork for their own company, 1Z Entertainment, but they had to wait for all their contracts with ShowBT to expire before officially announcing it (Ken was the last contract to expire because he was the one who joined the group last). Sorry that got long winded, I just find this song and the background behind it really interesting 😊 Thanks for the reaction!

One of my faves 😍 thank you for this. Hope you can check the Quit live performance.

Thanks for the reaction! Looking forward to the next one!

Thanks for reacting to this! 😊 It’s one of their more unique songs. I kind of equate it to Bohemian Rhapsody in that it’s got almost a storytelling aspect to the changes in the tempo, the backing. This is all Pablo’s genius in his writing, composing, and even producing skills. I’d like to suggest more live performances. Their ballads are really great: Ilaw, MAPA, Liham and Time on WishBus but search the ones that has English captions. I’ll post links if I find them. PS. Quit performance video is also excellent, as others have suggested.

The similarities to Queen were intentional! I'm a huge Queen fan, which was the main reason I liked What so much. So I was thrilled when I learned that Queen was a major songwriting influence for Pablo. He even instructed Simon Servida (who helped produce the song, he has a making of video) that it should be similar to We Will Rock You, which was why the electric guitar was added.

THE MAKING VLOGS of this song and MV on their YT channel shows a lot of their artistry. This was them finally showing who they are as Filipino artists. 😊

All of their MVs are self-produced even when they were still under Korean management before. Justin is their creative director in most MVs. Stell is the main choreographer when they were starting out. And then Pablo composes all of their songs (together with his brother, and collectively they are known as RadKids).

You should watch DAM MV. They went all out on that MV. It’s like a mini dark fantasy film. You’ll really be amazed.

Hi Tim, I heard from Pablo that this song and its MV is one of the hardest they did. Every member had big roles with Pablo with the lyrics and music production, Stell and Ken with Choreography, Josh with his rap and Justin as creative director. They have videos of behind the scene and you’ll see the blood, sweat and tears shed in its making (with limited resources). This was released in 2021 as part of their first EP Pagsibol. Their level of commitment is really on a different level considering where they are now,. if you haven’t pls check out the MV of DAM., Thanks again. More power to you.
