Everyone in hololive loves Suisei. She recently did a stream where she had other vtuber members come on and they’d spin a wheel for gifts. The gifts were anything from a random rock from the ground, to going to get a nose and throat scope at the doctors together, or even winning 100k yen from her or getting to hangout for a day with her. Nerissa and Elizabeth went on the show and didn’t get anything good, but Suisei changed their gifts to come hangout with her instead because she wanted to get to know them and sing with them in person. Another time she made curry for lunch for the whole entire company as thanks to them.

Of note: After this video came out. Last year in 2025 Suisei did her "Spectra of Nova" tour around japan for the release of her third album "SHINSEI MOKUROKU." The Tour ended at the Nippon Budakon. This is a culturally important venue for Japanese artists used to indicate you finally "hit the big time" as they say. She did a 3 night stay at the Budokan and completely sold out all 3 nights. That's a 14,500 capacity arena for 3 nights straight. Which is unheard of for a first time Budokan show. She's really killin it!

Glad it was Suisei and not Ina, the whole company could have died.

She would have given them all spicy noodles and been confused as to why they were suffering.

To try and answer the art and rigging question from the start - it *can* be done by anyone with the patience to learn, in the same way a music video can be mixed and edited by anyone. It takes a lot of skill to do a decent job of it, and a lot more than that to do it well. I think 100-200 hours of labour is pretty common for the higher end models big streamers use, which is why they can be cost comparable to motorcycles. But as the community grows the cost barrier is coming down; I have friends who spent less than $200 getting their first models, and there's at least one project from a high end artist and rigger to make user customizable models that can be much more cost effective than the 1:1 way they're usually done.

At the time of suisei's debut the resources available was way lower than today making it way harder to start from scratch.

I tried rigging my own vtuber model its hard it will take time to learn theres a lot of layers and small pieces to rig, this is why even tho Suisei is not my oshi I respect her and supported her I even bought her Fortnite skin lol

Nate

I've heard before that the high end models can easily pass $10k in cost

I love Suisei's story and I'm so glad you had the chance to learn more about how she became the shining star she is today! I wanted to expand on her relationship with Azki, the other singer in INNK for which the label had been started. It was meant to be a temporary partnership with Hololive, a joint venture label built around Azki, but for only a set number of years. As the video noted, it was siloed away from the rest of Hololive, leaving Azki and Suisei on their own, but the two of them developed a close relationship to one another. As the contracted period for INNK was coming to a close, they released a song together, titled "The Last Frontier". This was to be Azki's swan song, handing off her dreams to Suisei. The lyrics allude to the struggles they've been through, the relationship they developed, and Azki now leaving things to Suisei. However, rather than ending things like that, it was decided to also have Azki join Hololive proper (like Suisei had done some years before) and continue streaming and making music as Azki. Years later, at the annual Hololive concert "Holo Fes", the two performed this song as the concert closer. Suisei rewrote many of the lyrics in the back half of the song, to change from Azki's departure to now reference the future they will make together. The lyric revisions, plus the heartfelt discussion between the two of them immediately after the performance, left not a single dry eye in the house or on the live stream. Sorry for the wall of text, but I love this story so much, and wanted to give that additional context on top of what the video introduced about their relationship. I will definitely be dropping "The Last Frontier" as a recommendation into Tim's vtuber chat!

There are a lot of vtubers that aren't musical but i think a large reason why so many are musical is because vtubers kind of originated from the idol scene. There is a ton of cultural crossover between vtubers and idols.

Suisei established her own studio "Studio Stellar" Now any activities as a solo artist, including music activities, streaming activities, new merchandise sales, and fan club management, will be transitioned to her personal agency. She will continue her collaborative and group activities as a hololive production-affiliated VTuber despite these changes, with event appearances and product planning to be carried out as appropriate in coordination with COVER and related-party initiatives.
