"They've got no weapons, no nothing, but they're scared of them. Because they know they're right." -- Abby has joined the rebellion. :) That was a great outro to the series. It probably is a controversial opinion you have, but I happen to agree - Andor the show is better than the films in many ways. And it is REALLY nice to get a show that thinks writing for adults means subtlety and sophistication, rather than crudeness and over the top sexualisation. I think when people criticise recent shows for being Woke, it's not that (most) people have a problem with diverse casting, it's when real world Identity Politics starts creeping in. I don't think anybody cares if a character is female. Star Wars has always had strong female characters which were very popular. Princess Leia is iconic, Padme is superb and Mon Mothma was leader of the Rebel Alliance right from the first movie. The novels and other spin-off media are filled with nearly as many major female characters as male. And fans always loved them. It's when you get the producer wearing a "The Force is Female" t-shirt and the leads of the Acolyte going on about how they're correcting historical diversity issues that people start to call it Woke. The franchise has always been open and egalitarian and they try to make out that it wasn't so they can virtue signal about fixing things. Which many fans feel a little insulted by. And I kind of see their point, tbh. I think the reason people say Andor isn't Woke is not because it's nothing but straight White males - clearly it isn't. It's because in Andor you're not beaten over the head with Identity Politics. People are just allowed to be people. Vel and Cynta are lovers and it's just part of their characters and it doesn't feel like you're being told how to feel about that. So people are fine with it. In the Acolyte, both in the promotional interviews and the show, you can practically hear the sound of the writers slapping themselves on the back about a same-sex couple and it's heavily implied that female society is good and peaceful and men are bad and spoil things. I think that's more what people (usually) mean when they say the one show is Woke and Andor is not. Everyone in Andor is a character first, not some Identity placeholder for the culture wars. I also find the hypocrisy makes me angry. Like John Boyega is a very good British actor. I like him a lot and he was good in The Force Awakens. But with every subsequent movie his character was written dumber and more marginalised to the point he mostly just walks around shouting "Rey". And on the movie posters for China they edited him out because he's Black (not kidding). That's what I really hate about Disney's Wokeness. They love to use "Diversity" as a marketing point for their shows whilst being totally happy to remove a guy from Chinese marketing because he's Black and that doesn't sell well in China. Sorry - went off on a bit of one there! :) To make clear, the amount I wrote isn't meant to sound rant-y at you. Not at all. It's just long because of the complexity of the subject. I've really enjoyed your reactions to this show. And I'm 100% with you about "adult" not meaning extra violence and sexualisation. It's why I like the Clone Wars, oddly enough. Because while that is a show for kids, more or less, later seasons start bringing in a lot more of the complexity and themes in the same way Andor does. Albeit in a slightly more kid-friendly way. Looking forward to your reactions to Season 2.

Thank you! And I agree with Disney, they really do pick and choose 😂
