I find the contrast funny. In season 1 episode 21, the Separatists invades a Republic loyal planet, take it's resources and massacre it's people. In season 2 episode 5-7, The Republic invades a Separatists loyal planet, destroys it's resources and slaughters it's people. Also it wasn't that green guy in episode 4 who beefed with Padmé. The guy in episode 4 (named Lott Dod) was the one who in season 3 episode 3 (one of the first episodes you watched) tried to convince that alien king to not aid Ryloth and opposed JarJar and Organa. The one who beefed with Padmé was Nute Gunray, he was the one in season 1 episode 8 and also the leader of the Naboo occupation in Phantom Menace. He's mad at Padmé for capturing him in that movie. Lott Dod and Nute Gunray both represent the Trade Federation and want to profit from the war. In public, they say that Nute Gunray leads a small faction who rebels and are loyal to the Separatists when the whole Federation are loyal to Dooku and profit on both sides. The Federation are a coorporation though and they're not allowed in the Separatist senate because they want to prevent corruption. Season 2 episode 6 goes to show how Anakin and Ahsoka's bond are a strength. While Luminara and Barris seem like the optimal Jedi pair, they follow the rules and doesn't create attachments to eachother. That's why Luminara just accepted that Barris died while Anakin never accepted it. Episode 8 showed how problematic attachments can be when Anakin turned to the darkside to interrogate Poggle. Didn't you notice the subtle Vader's theme when he interrogated him?

Mace Windu's lightsaber is definitely purple, not pink :D One of the great things about this show is, is how much more extra stuff you get to learn about this universe. The films only cover the essential topics of star wars, but since this show has much more airtime, it allows for more exploration. Here, you got to see mind control. Without spoilers or ruining expectations, I will just say that you'll get to see much more new topics like this one; things you didn't know existed in this universe. You mentioned Andor there in the end, and you still kind of wondering what makes the Clone Wars so good. I think that, since you watched Andor already, I can give an analogy that you will hopefully understand: What Andor did for your knowledge and view of the Empire, the Clone Wars does for the force and for many of the characters you thought you knew. This show changed my perspective on so many of the characters I watched in the movies, and their actions thereafter (during and after Revenge of the Sith I mean). Not only is the character development rich and diverse, some of the visuals and dialogue are just absolute cinema at some points. I'll spare the details about destiny, the force and such, as I don't want to spoil more :) One last thing I do want to mention, is that the story lines at this point are somewhat separated from each other. In later seasons, yes there are individual arcs and story lines, but it feels like there is an overarching story being told across all arcs. And so, once you finish season 6, you could perhaps, on your own, watch the live reaction of the crowd at Star Wars Celebration event, where season 7 was unexpectedly announced. It was a deafening cheer, perhaps the most positive reaction any of Disney's star wars projects has ever gotten, and you'll understand why :) Oh also, I checked this Alex Hefner guy you mentioned, and I hope you didn't get to see too many of his video thumbnails... luckily thumbnails miss the context, but they can contain spoilers of things to come, even if you don't watch the videos.

Keep your ears open. It'll play a few more times during the series when Anakin's channeling the dark-side and also when there's sith stuff going on.

I think the Boob Droids (no idea if they have a proper name) are probably one more way of showing the Trade Federation as being pretty skeevy. Or else someone just wasn't supervising the animators closely enough that day. More serious note, yeah it's a little forced how Padme goes from finding Anakin too full-on to being okay with him but that takes place in the movie before TCW starts so there's not much the series can do about that. I think TCW does as good a job of fleshing the relationship out as it can. Anakin is still pretty young at this point - his abilities have caused him to be far ahead of someone his age should be. But when it comes to romance he's still very green and asking him to stand by while someone flirts with his girlfriend right in front of him is a bit more than he's equipped for, poor lad.

So I would say it never quite gets to Andor levels in terms of tone, but it does get close as the seasons go on. Because TCW focuses on the Jedi there's always a slightly greater level of high adventure. Lightsabers, weird aliens and plots. But you increasingly get more in the vein of these last parasite episodes which you enjoyed - darker events, more moral ambiguity. Season 5 is TCW at its most foreboding, but it builds from here on. One thing TCW does very well is bridge the gap between Anakin in Episode II and the Anakin in Episode III who finally becomes Vader. It makes the transition feel a lot more believable. I think that's a big part of why people love TCW so much - it helps fill out the weak point of the movies which is that they are a bit rushed due to the time constraints and how much they try to pack in.
