I realised when editing the last video that when Kanan and Hera are talking about their relationship it’s them talking about starting a family, and that when Hera says she wished she had told him she was referring to being pregnant. Clearly I was too grief stricken to think 😭😭😭😭

I haven’t watched this yet but I’m already upset again LOL

This one hurts, Kanan such a good guy.

One of the best Jedi has just left us. We will never forget you Kanan.

Making this it’s own comment Dave Filoni on Kanan’s eyes regaining their color. •Rebels Recon: “When I was drawing it I could just see his eyes and I was like that’s a moment where he can see her. And I thought in this moment because he’s in this point where he’s just kind of energy, where he’s about to die, when he’s more one with everything he’s ever been, you’d have this clarity where things like physical sight just doesn’t matter.“ •SW Celebration: “He is, in this one instance, not so much a part of the material world as immaterial. He’s almost in that world between that I like so much. And I thought it’s this one instance, again the reality of it or not, it’s what you believe, and what you feel. And I think for Hera their connection, that she can see that and she can see him and so...what does that mean? Do you need it to be about your eyes seeing somebody or not? I don’t know. But that was the way to express in that moment, and I thought it was great.” •Director of cinematography Joel Aron on what happened: “Clarity. It wasn’t that they were seeing each other, it’s just that everything connected. For how I perceive that moment is that everything’s okay.” •It’s also been interpreted as a gift from the Force for his ultimate selfless act

Kanan regaining his eyesight to see Hera once more, just as he promised in season 2: "We will see each other again, I promise"... man :'(

Kanan is one of the most underrated characters in Star Wars he's in my top 5 till this day I hate that they killed him off but at the same time i feel like his character wouldn't have the same impact it did on fans without his death, he was a true Jedi till the end so much so the force gave him one last gift of seeing Hera.😭

Jesse

You mentioned never crying @ a Star Wars reaction before the other day 😔

I’ve cried a few times watching Star Wars I think !!

Yes, this is extremely sad. I love how the writers foreshadowed this fate by his birth name, Caleb Dume. He is now one with the Force. I will tell you that Kanan is not a Force ghost, what you were seeing is his spirit. I believe that Hera’s connection to the Force is more intuitive, but she does have one. I believe that Han Solo is a similar situation. I will tell you to watch the next episode with the subtitles on to get the most from the episode. If you want to learn more about Grand Admiral Thrawn and his journey to this point, check out Timothy Zahn’s recent Thrawn trilogy of books. They are extremely good and well worth your time. I would point you to the Star Wars: A New Dawn, which features Kanan and Hera’s first meeting and focuses their first mission together.

Kanan cutting his hair and shaving is very ritualistic so I believe he knew where is path is going to end up and he is accepted it and wanting to help is family. Watching Hera looking on in abject horror as happening is soul destroying. Episode 11, DUME, does a good job of showing grief and the different ways to process it. Hera basically shuts down and it is Chopper that brings her out of it. Sabine and Zeb lash out just as Thrawn expected. I love how Sabine is the one to keep Zeb from killing Rukh because it isn’t what Kanan would have wanted. Ezra is just lost and loses hope, it is the wolf Dume that helps him find it and come back stronger.

You’re watching Star Wars. With very rare exception, *you’ll always go through it.* Welcome to the club 😂 4-9 Mart Mattin’s back. Sato’s nephew The pink lights are just the X Wing engine energy. You’ve definitely seen them before, but i guess only in the original trilogy Chopper’s been able to carry Ezra while flying and had pretty good speed. Hera might be a bit more difficult. And in this situation it might not be a good idea to get too high, let the imperials see you, or maybe make too much noise from his rocket It’s never been confirmed, but it’s a popular fan theory that Lothal is Kanan’s original home before he was taken to the jedi order, hence the connection to the Loth wolves, and why he (and the other spectres) keep ending up back there We had to wait 3 months for the next episode 4x10 The things Kanan hears(?) in the beginning. And as you slightly caught, some of them were said after 👀 •Kanan: Want a ride? •Ezra: The Jedi temple is in danger. •Hera: Kanan, you haven't gotten me a present since we first met. •Kanan: You can learn what it truly means to be a Jedi. •Ezra: You didn't prepare me for this. •Kanan: There's something I need to tell you. •Ezra: I know I can always count on you. RIP to the most valuable rebel: Kanan’s beard Kanan cutting his hair is him fully embracing himself as his old jedi self of Caleb Dume. Although not fully the same, his ponytail was very similar to the kind padawans have, and he’s been a knight since near the end of S2 •This is also indicated with him passing on the mission plan to avoid his attachment to Hera complicating things Hera’s torture is the most I’ve hated Pryce. Until later in the episode. Drunk on truth serum Hera is hilarious. I always felt that Kanan was also going to confess his love to Hera The way Hera screaming No is silent, replaced with a wail of sorrow. That’s how you get me to cry. Every time. 4x11 (Chopper holds Hera’s hand) Chopper. What TF are *you* doing making me cry?! And we see why there’s no TIE defenders in the oroginal trilogy. The rebellion would’ve had a much harder time if those things were around As you reasoned earlier, Hera was always focussed on the rebellion. She and Kanan may have been “together” but not committed relationship together The symbol on Dume’s forehead is the same one Kanan had on the pauldron he used to wear in the first 2 seasons Dume’s voice in the credits is The Force. Damn it Filoni! I’m postive there’s at least some Freddie Prinze Jr in there. Preventing Zeb from killing Rukh was a bit of a jedi move on Sabine’s part 4x12 The biggest question I still have: What the hell did Chopper see when they traveled through the planet? Minister Hydan is an adviser of Palpatine. You see a couple other ones very briefly in Return of the Jedi Minster Tua, S2 premiere: “I've discovered the true reason the Empire came to Lothal. (We know that one. The Empire has a factory and they're stripping the planet's resources to fuel it.) No. There is another reason known only to a few and ordered by the Emperor himself.“ Palpatine is voiced by his original actor, Ian McDiarmid. I thought they would bring in Sam Witwer like they did for the S2 premier, but they got the original emperor! Palpatine: "A conDEW-IT between the living and the dead" The 2D animation for the mural is so cool! There’s dialogue and sound effects from the Mortis trilogy. Like that deep horn sound. Ezra pulled a road runner!

It’s almost been 10 years since the episode “Jedi Night” was released and it still hits just as hard even more so with your reaction. Rewatching the show and seeing your love for Kanan it hurt knowing what would happen, but he truly was one of the purest examples of a Jedi. Similarly the white title of Star Wars Rebels and silent credits was the first time in the show’s history and the moment still holds up to this day. Having an entire episode dedicated to how each member the crew grieved arguably hurt even more than the moment itself. It’s a testament to this show being able to take that extra time and sit with the situation even with only 5 episodes left. Kanan’s is a top tier Star Wars character and his death still might be one of if not the most emotional in the franchise.

Chopper going up to Hera to hold her hand never fails to break me :'(

Kaleb A. Diaz

The way I see it is kind of getting his eyesight back just before he dies is like the force rewarding him for his sacrifice, like in this moment, when he is more one with the force than he’s ever been, and just before he dies the force gives them his sight back one last time to see Hera like he promised he would, anyway, I’m gonna go cry in the shower now

The Chopper hand hold gets me every time
