Great watch, your reactions are the best.

Great reaction, as always! If you like Ed Harris (and who doesn't?), you should definitely watch "The Right Stuff". According to your Letterboxd account, you've already seen "Apollo 13". Well, like "Apollo 13", this is a movie about the American space program. It covers the Mercury program, the astronauts that came before Apollo (like John Glenn, played by Ed Harris). After you watch "The Right Stuff", it would be great if you would react to "From the Earth to the Moon". That's an HBO miniseries, produced by Tom Hanks, that covers the entire Apollo program from start to finish. It is amazingly well done, is quite accurate to what actually happened, but is also very entertaining, with plenty of drama, humor, adventure, and viewpoints that you might never have considered before (like that of the wives of the astronauts, as well as the stories of those who actually designed and built the rockets and spaceships). I've seen many reactors say that they love space but don't know much about it. So far, none of them have taken that extra step of reacting to "From the Earth to the Moon". I would love to see you be the first!

Great reaction Coby!! I'm glad you enjoyed the movie. The director's cut of this adds a different context at the end when Ed Harris is talking to the aliens on their ship. It makes the reading of his texts back to him and him diffusing the bomb and saving them a little more meaningful. You should check it out even for just that part, (the rest of the movie is pretty much the same). Catch you on the next one!

The studio made Cameron cut this down to fit a 2h 20m time slot for theaters. Even the end credits were sped up to scroll at double speed to save time. What got cut was 30min of plot and character development. The 3h director's cut is preferred by fans.

I have always loved this movie. I think I love that Special Edition better. What does everyone else think? Coby you should watch the special edition at the 2:27 mark, when Bud removes his helmet and starts to breathe air again. It brings more meaning and more of a message of how the aliens see mankind.
