O BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU? (2000) - Full Watch Along

O Brother, Where Art Thou? is a 2000 satirical comedy-drama musical film written, produced, co-edited, and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen. It stars George Clooney, John Turturro, and Tim Blake Nelson, with Charles Durning, Michael Badalucco, John Goodman and Holly Hunter in supporting roles. The film is set in rural Mississippi in 1937, and it follows three escaped convicts searching for hidden treasure while a sheriff relentlessly pursues them. Its story is a modern satire which, while incorporating social features of the American South, is loosely based on Homer's epic Greek poem The Odyssey.

Most of the soundtrack was done by Alison Krauss and Union Station. you can check out the videos on youtube Here is man of constant sorrow: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuJ8xEByUf4, (You won't believe the guy who actually sings it is producing that voice haha.) It is a very old song. It was originally recorded by Dick Burnett, a partially blind fiddler from Kentucky in 1913. Also here is Emmylou Harris, Gillian Welch and Alison Krauss singing the sirens song Go To Sleep You Little Baby: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94h2L9oBOHM. Hope you enjoy Coby!

Ought to watch "Sullivan's Travels" sometime. This whole movie is practically a tribute to that one.

"I'm just not sure that's Pete". Clooney did plan on singing for the movie, here's a funny story he tells about it starting at about 2:22 (prank story before that, the man loves his pranks) https://www.facebook.com/thegrahamnortonshow/videos/george-clooney-might-get-arrested-for-this-the-graham-norton-show/1763600453974288/ The movie was based on the Odyssey, which I'm guessing since you didn't mention any of the references you either didn't notice or you aren't that familiar with the story. Well, when Nolan's Odyssey movie comes out next year you can instead look for O Brother references in it.

Thanks for doing this one Coby, I always wanted to see this but for some reason never got around to it.

Coby seemed shocked by the presence of the klan. They were still pretty popular in the 1930’s. Fun trivia: The Nazis studied Jim Crow laws and used them as a basis for their anti-Jewish laws.

Great when they run into Tommy Johnson at the Crossroads, who is a well known Mississippi Delta Blues Musician who is said to have sold his soul to the Devil at the crossroads. This is the same as Robert Johnson. Two great Delta Blues artist. Coby you should watch the movie "Crossroads" (1986). Love that movie.

After Tommy Johnson, they are picked up by Gorge "Baby Face" Nelson famous bank robber of the 1930's. Also became a partner with John Dillinger. He died at the age of 25 during a gun battle with the FBI on November 27, 1934
