Happy International Dog Day everyone!!! No better day to celebrate how loving, loyal and incredible our canine babies are with this beautiful story of Hachi (Hachiko). Even if it means me crying for 2 hours straight. Sorry for the tear-fest, but this film broke me with its puppy love… 🖤 Tonight 6pm EST.

HACHI: A DOG'S TALE (2009) - MOVIE REACTION - First Time Watching

Hachi: A Dog's Tale is a 2009 American drama film and a remake of Seijirō Kōyama's 1987 Japanese film Hachikō Monogatari. This version, which places it in a modern American context, was directed by Lasse Hallström, written by Stephen P. Lindsey and Kaneto Shindo, and produced by Richard Gere, Bill Johnson and Vicki Shigekuni Wong. The film stars Gere, Joan Allen, Sarah Roemer, Jason Alexander, and Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa. Hello dear. I am really looking forward to being at this reaction. I loved the movie and not ashamed to admit I was crying at the end and parts in between. I hope you can make it, if not, I want you to know you will be missed. I was stationed in Japan for almost 2 yesrs and i feel a different attachment to this movie than the rest of you do. Brought back many nice memories of Japan. Thank you Coby!!! 😊 🥰

After last night, I'm not sure I can take more dog-based tears! Luckily Mini is OK, but I felt SO bad! (you'll understand when you see my latest message). I'll still be watching though!

Hey Coby, I watched this with you last week with my 2 girls, Sandie (a medium golden labradoodle) and Sophie ( a Boston Terrier). Loved your reaction. I didn't cry as much as the first time I watched this but every time you started balling a got choked up. You have a heart of gold. The first time I watched it I said never again, not that it's a bad movie but it's just so so heartbreaking. That being said I'm glad I watched it with you and Cash.

As often as I have seen this, Coby's reaction was the best. I felt like I was watching it for the first time. I love dogs so much, and watching this true story about a dog that is absolutely heartbroken and never gives up hope of seeing its Master again absolutely destroyed me. I can almost deal with any movie, but if you add a dog to a film that is hurting or might get hurt, that's it for me. I'm glad one of my friends didn't come over while I watched Coby's reaction; they would have asked me who died.

Thank you Coby....a beautiful reaction to a beautiful movie. You really do make such a difference to our lives, you bring joy and happiness...and today, tears. But we all love you and thank you for being there and brightening up our lives. xx ♥️

Bless you Coby! I couldn't do it, so you are stronger than I am, lol. Back in 2002, I watched the 'Jurassic Bark' episode of Futurama. If you're not familiar, Philip Fry is frozen and revived 1,000 years in the future. At the end of this episode, it is revealed, that Fry's dog Seymour waited at the same spot for Fry to return until the day he (Seymour) passed. Based on the same story as this movie, I cried my eyes out as a guy that was way too old to be crying at cartoons. I haven't watched that episode since and I don't want to relive the story in real life by any means, lol. Because of that episode I have the constant thought in my mind of when will I be 'Too Old' to get a new dog. I used to be heartbroken over losing a pet, and I still am... But the thought of me passing and leaving my pooch... There has got to be a time where I'm either too old to own a dog... Or I have to have caregivers in place who are a part of the dog's life while I'm still here. I can't bear to think about leaving my dog alone. Thank you Coby for so bravely facing this movie, and I apologize I couldn't suffer with you. 🥲 ETA: I posted the same thing on Youtube because I don't care who knows I'm a big softy! All the dogs I've had the pleasure of sharing my life with deserve me being honest and open. Bless them all!

Puppies are the sweetest companions . Happy Birthday to your cutie.

Hey Coby, thank you for reacting to this beautiful movie. I appreciate you sharing this, because i know it wasn’t easy for you. Your love for dogs says a lot about who you are. Honestly, it’s how I can spot a good person. People who genuinely love animals are usually the best people. You were talking about losing your 16 year old dog before you had Cash. I lost my 15 year old beagle Jack earlier this year. Even though I have 3 other dogs, Jack was the most affectionate, and I miss him every day. I still have his brother Strummer, who’s almost his twin, and I often find myself calling him Jack. BTW, Cash looked so adorable in the pic you posted on Instagram, wearing his little leather jacket. I hope you guys have an amazing week.

Hachi is an Akita. Thanks for the reaction.

The statue dedicated to Hachi and his owner is outside of Tokyo at Shibuya station.

Beautiful reaction. The director, Lasse Hallström, made many noteworthy movies, including, in America, What's Eating Gilbert Grape as well as Hachi. But his masterpiece is a Swedish film called My Life As a Dog he made back in the 1980s. It's an absolutely beautiful, heartfelt, if offbeat, coming of age movie that if you ever decide to watch, I'll be here. But note, it has subtitles. Its greatness is undeniable.
