I personally would like you to watch the director’s cut. It adds depth to the story, and is very worth your time.

theatrical

stingo

theatrical tbh

COBY CONNELL

Right?!? See so far most of you say the theatrical, and I’m such a fan of seeing the original of something that everyone saw initially - but over on the poll the other one (special) is winning… I don’t want people to be disappointed either way. Ughhhh what to dooooooooo 🫠🫠🫠

Bryan Fritchie

Didn't finish watching the reaction for the first one because of unbleeped blasphemy. 🤷🏻‍♂️

3 Wise Kitties

I recommend that you see Alien Romulus before Aliens as it has a closer tie in to the end of the one you just watched.

Allen Bond

I voted for theatrical. even if it's going to lose.

Dave Beth

Honestly, you'll be happy with either one.

Rg

Not sure 🤔!! I'm going with the consensus vote 😉

I can see both sides of the argument, but I feel a specific scene in the Special Edition makes it more worthwhile. The other scenes aren't as important but I enjoy them. Of course, I've seen both versions many times. Some people say a certain scene "spoils" a reveal later in the film. I'm not so sure it lessens the impact that much, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. According to Wikipedia, "The extended cut is 157 minutes long, 20 minutes longer than the theatrical cut, and Cameron has stated it is his preferred version."

Max du Coudray

Theatrical cut has no chance of winning this vote, but I guarantee it's better. Fans of this movie can't remember what it was like seeing it for the first time. The extra scenes are mostly lower quality and sap the movie of its pacing. There is one scene that is about 30 seconds long that provides some interesting back story and the other additions are quite poor. It also makes the movie longer than it needs to be. I wish fans could see past their fandom.

Jacob King

I prefer the theatrical. Noting wrong with any part of the special edition but two and a half hours is too long.

Wreath

I vote for theatrical.

Geoman

Debating here and debating on YT 😂 this isn't like dawn of justice special edition where it fills in plot holes...it simply lengthens various scenes and adds extra dialogue..you don't get any revaluations or missing info in the special edition...so I'd go for the theatrical..then honestly stop and go back to the prequels Prometheus and Covenant.. Romulus is just a reboot of the xenomorph alien so they can make new monies in the future...they had wrecked the franchise after Aliens hence the prequels were done.

James Cole

A rare occasion where cut scenes actually should not have been cut. The extended version provides backstory and the entire movie makes more sense.

The extended version

Skyler Thomas

Theatrical. Cut scenes have some additional info but really break the movie pace and just feel janky. It should be nuked from orbit. it’s the only way to be sure!

Gardner von Holt

As I understand it, both versions are "director blessed". The original cut was focused on the commercial need for the film to be lower for theater and public acceptance. Things were cut to reach a more palatable (in those days) length. Later, the special edition was a recut that was not bound by the need to match the theatrical constraints. More color, details, and a reintroduction of some lost things. There are people that prefer both, they each have their fans. If you wanted to spend longer in this world, see just a little more, then choose the longer one. However, if you felt like you couldnt spend any more time in this world that the absolute minimum, choose the theatrical. But i suspect you want an actual recommendation..Personally, I like movies that are well paced, stay focused on the story, and tell that story well. So in this case, its the theatrical version.

Great input.
