IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE (1946) - MOVIE REACTION - First Time Watching

It's a Wonderful Life is a 1946 American Christmas fantasy drama film directed and produced by Frank Capra. It is based on the short story and booklet "The Greatest Gift", self-published by Philip Van Doren Stern in 1943, which itself is loosely based on the 1843 Charles Dickens novella A Christmas Carol. The film stars James Stewart as George Bailey, a man who has given up his personal dreams to help others in his community and whose thoughts of suicide on Christmas Eve bring about the intervention of his guardian angel, Clarence Odbody. Clarence shows George all the lives he touched and what the world would be like if he had not existed. Hello everyone and welcome to The Coby Show! My favorite Christmas movie - "Family Man" if you're looking for one.

I've seen this pretty much every Christmas season since I was a kid, but didn't understand why all the adults watching it would cry at the end. What's fun about that? Then at some point in my twenties, I understood. Now my eyes are wet every single time, sometimes multiple times in the same year. I knew you'd love this.

Hey Coby, I hope you are, in the words of Sir Paul, “simply having a wonderful Christmas time!!!” This movie is so bittersweet for me. As a child I thought this was just a nice Christmas movie. As an adult it really hits close to home. A brilliant movie, and thank you for doing a reaction. Hope you and Cash have a very merry Christmas.🎄🎁

The role of Mr. Potter was played by Lionel Barrymore, the great uncle of Drew Barrymore. My favorite A Christmas Carol movie by far is The Muppets Christmas Carol, but I suppose you should watch the old classic from 1951 first. There have been quite a few adaptations, the Muppets one is fantastic. Merry Christmas 🎄

It was so great to see someone see this for the first time, after seeing it for hundreds of times, I couldn't even remember what it was first like. So glad you enjoyed! Happy holidays!

Coby, for New Year's you've got to watch The Apartment (1960), directed by Billy Wilder and starring Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine. Perfect follow-up to It's a Wonderful Life. (Amazon has a great-looking version.)
