THE ADVENTURES OF BUCKAROO BANZAI ACROSS THE 8TH DIMENSION (1984) - Full Watch Along

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension, often shortened to Buckaroo Banzai, is a 1984 American adventure science fiction comedy film produced and directed by W. D. Richter and written by Earl Mac Rauch. It stars Peter Weller in the title role, with Ellen Barkin, John Lithgow, Jeff Goldblum, and Christopher Lloyd. The supporting cast includes Lewis Smith, Rosalind Cash, Clancy Brown, Pepe Serna, Robert Ito, Vincent Schiavelli, Dan Hedaya, Jonathan Banks, John Ashton, Carl Lumbly and Ronald Lacey. Such a niche, camp, obscure, cult classic that I honestly cannot recall having seen a reactor(s) react to... too many words in this comment. I'll just watch now.

Buckaroo Banzai was one of those real litmus test movies during my high school years. If you met a new friend and they liked this one, you just met someone cool.

- The state trooper at the crash site with the 2 hunters was John Ashton, one of the detectives from "Beverly Hills Cop" - Rawhide was Clancy Brown. I'm not sure if Coby has seen "Starship Troopers" or "Highlander"

For some more Jeff Goldblum try these: "The Right Stuff" (1983) *True Story* "Death Wish" (1974 original version) w/ Charles Bronson "Earth Girls Are Easy" (1989) w/ Damon Wayans & Jim Carrey

It definitely feels like it was based on a comic book, but it was not (although a comic book and a video game were released). The genius of this movie is that it gives the impression that there is an entire existing world -- a comic book, a video game, a rock band, a movie series, a fan club -- and that you just happened to have stumbled upon one movie that is part of that world. Plus, I love the fact that it DOESN'T explain everything. For example, the scene where Jeff Goldblum's character asks, "Why is there a watermelon there?," and Pecos says, "I'll tell you later." Of course, we never find out, and that's wonderful!

Coby welcome to the Buckaroo Banzai cult following haha. it is a crazy ride and so many actors you would not think would be in this one. If anyone meets Peter Weller. you must call him Dr Peter Weller, he get upset if you not use the "Dr". Some of his other big movies: Of Unknown Origin (1983) Shakedown (1988) Screamers (1995) Dr Peter Weller was also in "DEXTER" and "Sons of Anarchy". Two great TV shows
