HAIR (1979) - MOVIE REACTION - First Time Watching

Hair is a 1979 musical anti-war comedy-drama film directed by Miloš Forman and adapted for the screen by Michael Weller, based on the 1968 Broadway musical Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical. Set against the backdrop of the hippie counterculture of the Vietnam era, the film focuses on a Vietnam War draftee who meets and befriends a "tribe" of hippies while en route to the army induction center. The hippies and their leader introduce him to marijuana, LSD, and their environment of unorthodox relationships and draft evasion. The film stars an ensemble cast including John Savage, Treat Williams, Beverly D'Angelo, Annie Golden, Dorsey Wright, Don Dacus, Cheryl Barnes and Ronnie Dyson. Dance scenes were choreographed by Twyla Tharp and were performed by Tharp's dancers. Hello everyone and welcome to The Coby Show! Thank you for supporting me and I hope you have a good time here! Looking forward to this! I grew up on the original Broadway cast album, saw a production in the early 80s (which was billed as an”period piece”), and also saw this film. The film has much more of an actual plot than the stage show did. I was so mesmerized by the youthful, confident optimism of the opening number, and so bitterly disappointed that none of its prophesies came true, that I wrote a short story about it.

This was a Broadway musical that opened in 1968. It was famous for a scene at the end of act 1 that was a nude scene and most of cast performed nude. It was all about freedom.

I’m just now getting around to watching this. I always got this and Jesus Christ Superstar mixed up. Great reaction, bonus points for mentioning Schitt’s Creek. I love that show. I binged watched it all last month. I almost didn’t recognize you with that hair, I thought you were Darryl Hannah in Splash for a second. Didn’t love the ending, I see why it upset you. It’s still a very cool movie. I’m a hippie at heart. Hope you have a great week. ✌️ ☮️
