COVID and Frontier Freedom (Patreon)

Ever since the pandemic, major outlets have conspicuously abandoned giving frames of reference. They'll say things like, "countries with fewer people dying are bad, and here's why," with no frame of reference to what they think is good. When people do die, the language is active; it's the country's fault. But when it comes to the US, the deaths are passive. The US didn't kill them; they died because of their individual choices. These same outlets don't condemn the US for their COVID response.
COVID deaths are unavoidable for the most powerful country in the world. Yet, these same outlets don't condemn the US for their response. The unspoken argument is: lots of people dying is good because that means you are free, and preventing premature deaths is fascism. This is the same thing they said about school shootings, people dying from lack of healthcare, dying of poverty, housing and food insecurity, and so on. It's a definition of freedom based on racist settler-colonial ideas of "frontier" freedom.
The US says zero COVID mandates are tyrannical because it obstructs people's lives but doesn't apply that same logic to US sanctions or US global military presence without consent or controlling foreign countries and economies because it's still the colonialist idea of: "we can do what we want." It's the white supremacist default of: "we as whites are free to please our appetites even if it's at the harm of others. If you are not white, you are not fit to rule yourself. This is unquestionably natural," which is why free speech news never think to question it. It's their freedom to rule.
This is why if few people die, you're being savage. If lots of people die, well, it's because you're a "savage." Regardless of the results, to the US and their Occidental allies and their compradors and collaborators, you can never be fit to rule yourself. You are a "savage."
