George Orwell Is Watching You (Patreon)

You ever notice Charlie Chaplin movies had a lot of anti-fascism and pro-labor elements? That (along with Chaplin's Jewishness) really rubbed George Orwell the wrong way. Orwell, despite what people project onto him, feared the growth of the Left. So he worked with the British government to snitch out Chaplin. He was way ahead of US rightwingers on Critical Race theory because he snitched on famed Black singer, musician, actor, scholar, activist Paul Robeson for being too pro-Black and in Orwell's own words, too "anti-white." (The West should actually look up to Robeson, not Orwell but we know why that won't happen.)

More than actual communists, he mostly snitched on anti-colonialists, anarchists, unionists, progressives, liberals, or anyone he deemed too "anti-American." Many of them were writers who had sympathy for workers, BIPOC, women, Jews, LGBTQ+, and colonized people and emancipation.

(He was also ahead of rightwingers on thinking Jews controlled the media.)

That's the thing about anticommunism, it doesn't just go after anyone actually communist, it goes after anyone not rightwing or "anti-American," or not upholding w supremacy and patriarchy. (The history of anticommunism was almost entirely the massacring, overthrowing, torturing, sexual assaulting, and sabotaging of BIPOC and was fought mostly in the Global South—but also look up the Red Summer massacres. Most of its victims weren't even communists. The worst crimes were committed against women, children, and marginalized groups. So again, who are people asking to get murdered with their anticommunism? They know it won't be them so they don't care. They probably also know it's historically been BIPOC victims, so you do the math.)

This is not a hero. Orwell more than anyone knew what naming someone as communist would do (especially to someone Black re: Red Summers). And 100% there are Left media figures who are just like Orwell—just look for the ones who idolize him.
