Launching Liberation Martial Arts Online (Patreon)
Content
For liberatory collectives, trainers, and individuals who have been looking for a martial arts program to follow that isn't from reactionaries, we're launching Liberation Martial Arts Online. It's meant to build someone up with 0 experience without them falling through the gaps. Safety, longevity, and leaving no one behind have been top concerns.
We're currently building physical and technical scaffolding, but this is useful even for those seasoned in combative arts—or even general sports and fitness—to fill in the gaps, retrain foundational movements, or learn the theory behind the movements. Along with each technique are things to reflect on. None of this is prescriptive, just suggestions and analysis.
This curriculum is constantly being updated; we'll all be developing together. (Feel free to leave any comments you have for any of the units.) The intention is to provide a curriculum and pedagogy even for those wanting to supplement their training or lacking in pedagogy and philosophy.
The curriculum isn't just techniques but also theory. There are stand-alone essays and theses. In addition, all the videos come with transcriptions and closed captioning for those who prefer reading and reflecting or can't hear.
If you're already part of a program you enjoy, this isn't meant to replace that but to supplement any gaps or problem-solve trouble spots. So take your phone or laptop to class and share the videos with others. Share memberships. Help us spread the word. (Hopefully, this will also evolve into in-person classes in Los Angeles.) If you can't afford to upgrade your membership, I'll still be posting techniques on the Discord channel #LMA-curriculum.
And if you don't care about the curriculum and just want to increase your financial support (and help us build an in-person course and cover other costs associated with running this network), this is an option along with the Producer tier. Southpaw is mostly what I'm doing for my livelihood and the only thing I want to be doing.
Find the curriculum here.
