Bridge and Neck Stability (Patreon)
Content
It's crucial that you be able to maintain your posture while in your fighting stance. Your posture starts with your head. Leaning forward and sticking your chin out might now be normal posture, but in combat, it will get you knocked out, taken down, or thrown. This is why we're leveling up our postural strength, to prepare us for the next phase of our curriculum. Maintaining posture and alignment is a personal responsibility, not only for safety but injury prevention. And LMA is about building you up step by step like an overpowered character in an epic Webtoon.
To complement the plank with neck stability, we'll be holding a bridge with neck stability.
You can use a foam roller, yoga block, balance ball, bench, boxing gloves, mitts or pads, or a rolled-up martial arts gi as a prop to lift up your upper body.
Same as before, get your neck into a neutral position. Imagine elongating your cervical spine in a straight line from where it meets your shoulders. Now rotate your head from side to side so we can strengthen your neck without moving your neck out of alignment. For your bridge, keep your spine neutral, push your heels into the ground, and contract your glutes, abs, and hamstrings. Swivel your head up to twenty times.
