Great reaction! so far, the name "rigel" has not come up in re zero. this is the first! "regulas" is named after a completely different star in a different constellation. Regulus is from the constellation of leo, and Betelgeuse is in the constellation of Orion. Another side note: While the star in our universe is named Betelgeuse, in re zero the star is named "Petelgeuse." Apparently, the letter being a "P" instead of "b" for the Archbishop has some meaning which has not been revealed yet!

I’d support a book club if there were also other ppl interested, however you decide to implement it. I love the relation the series has with Astronomy, was the most interesting subject for me growing up. Re Zero is definitely my favorite show of the anime season so far.

Subaru’s parents named him after a star which is where his interest in star names and their myth’s came from.

It’s mentioned early on in the novels but sort of glossed over in the anime. The Memory Snow OVA does touch on it. Subaru and Beatrice (I think) are standing on the balcony at Roswaal’s mansion and Subaru points to the star in the sky that he’s named after.

Also different cultures have different names for constellations. Pleiades is the Greek name for an asterism of seven stars also known as the seven sisters. In Japan that asterism is called Subaru.

So the Pleiades Library could also be called the Subaru Library.

I don’t necessarily think Subaru is Flugel. Flugel might have just been someone who could see the future.

Shaula recognized Subaru as her master by his smell but that could just be the smell of the three witch factors inside him. He has Envy, Greed and Sloth at the moment (I’m assuming. We know that he has sloth because of the invisible hand. I’m assuming he has Envy or a copy/extension of it because of Return By Death. The only evidence for Greed so far is the dream/vision at the start of this episode.)

In the episode where Petelgeuse absorbed the Sloth witch factor he apologised to Flugel. The implication seemed to be that Flugel gave the witch factor to Petelgeuse for safekeeping.
