"Jack & Diane"- John Cougar Mellencamp. Bryan Adams' gritty/raspy voice is amazing!!

Amber! Great (re)reaction! If you’re staying on the summer kick (and I think you should!) how about trying the 80s UK Blue-Eyed Soul band The Style Council and their gorgeous hit ‘LONG HOT SUMMER’? I guarantee that this tune is made for you! ❤️❤️❤️

Amber, you have to check out the 1996 Live at Wembley performance if you haven't seen it yet!

Did you know the songs title has a double entendre? Yes, it's a coming of age, any age not just 1969, song but it's also sexual innuendo. My husband was born in 69 as well and this song means probably the same to him as it does to your mom.

Hey Rockstar, great reaction...That band that Bryan talks about in the song, yep, that's what happened to ours, someone quit, someone got married, then we spread out to the 4 winds, man. After the Army, 2nd best job I ever had! This song is so great too when it comes to GenX summers. Beaches, buddies, babes, bikinis, bikes, booze, great music, movies, drive ins, bowling, arcades, concerts, camping out for tickets, GAH, sittin' on the hood of my car with my girl at Lake Como, Lake Phalen, and Vadnais, sippin Root Beer Floats at the A&W....those days were the best! I didn't get to post much on your Summer Breeze Reaction, but I'll post that here: One of my favorite memories was after we left the farm and moved to the city. The view from the parking lot watching the sun go down over the Como Lake Pavillion, helluva site. Those Minnesota sundowns, especially on Brainerd and Northern Minnesota lakes, SUPERIOR, oh, darlin, if you ever get a chance to spend a week in Duluth, MN, get out there every night and watch the sun go down over Superior...or up by Lake of the Isles, gorgeous! But when I was young, man, those summers on the farm were the best growing up. "Standing on your momma's porch..." oh those days, man. Sitting with my girl on her momma's porch in the swing, holdin hands, sippin on cold RC Cola, true teen love, man. Then my calling came, Army, desert sunsets, foreign land sunsets, all the while, I just wanted to get home to my girl. One of the most beautiful sunsets my then wife in '92 and I enjoyed was in Salzburg after our trip to Hitler's Eagles Nest. We had booked a week at the General Patton Hotel with Army MWR (Morale, Welfare and Recreation). Amber...you could see Austria, just like you saw in Band of Brothers...what a site. Got to see 37 countries while I was over in Germany. Sunsets from many places and landmarks. I could jabber on, but I don't want to bore you and my fellow patreons. Thanks for this reaction....It was needed today. SGT Rock

You've got o listen to Brian and Tina Turner together in Its Only Love.... (the Live version). The chemistry is intoxicating. You'll love it.

Heaven from that performance is amazing

This is a good song. Your mom's got good taste in music.

Pardon my Swiss cheese memory, but have we already done Don Henley's "Boys of Summer?" Or maybe this is a good time for a full album reaction of The Beach Boys' "Endless Summer?"

All of a sudden I started getting notification after notification of you posting new reactions yesterday..... and doing a summer playlist for the solstice makes sense. Your mom is just two years older than myself (not sure if that makes you really young, or makes me really old ~ laughs ~ ). I think the reason this song stands up so well is because most people had that one special summer while coming of age, and it brings back personal memories for anyone listening to it, even if they weren't actually coming of age in that timeframe. So Bryan Adams was 9-1/2 years old in the Summer of 69...... I was turning 14 years old when he released this song. That particular summer wasn't all that memorable.... but the summer when I was 9-1/2 years old was a really great summer.... and was at the point where both my parents were working full-time, and I no longer required having a babysitter. And yes..... there was an instance where me and my friends had to flee from the cops THAT summer..... nothing major.... just being somewhere we shouldn't have been..... but nothing illegal.
